cp3 I'm sorry your h's family are challenging. And I get being sad about your dd's birthday(s). Maybe we'll be vaccinated before she turns 3. But even if not, she probably won't remember her 2nd or 3rd birthday anyway. I get that you will, of course. 😭

I had day dreams of driving to my parents in AZ to surprise them for Christmas (we had all decided early on that it was going to be hard, but the right decision to not see each other), but once cases went crazy that was crushed forever. At least my MIL is hyper local to us and has been in our bubble since April. I think we are going to try and do a big facetime gift opening with my family though. We’ve never attempted anything like this... it will be interesting

What do we think about this change to CDC guidelines on quarantine duration?

What do we think about this change to CDC guidelines on quarantine duration? I was like ok makes sense, until in the next breath it says 14 days is still best (in the version I read). But some people really have to work... so maybe it's a reasonable compromise?

But some people really have to work... so maybe it's a reasonable compromise? It does seem more like a compromise. Although maybe it's worthwhile if the shortened duration plus negative test results in wider compliance and covers majority of the cases.

But also, we are currently under quarantine due to my kid being exposed at preschool so I am especially interested in the guidelines. I'll be curious to see if our state official addresses this in the briefing today.

lemondrop I'm really hoping the Janssen one performs well, it's the only one I know of so far that is single dose. Compliance for getting a second dose is going to be an issue, even without side effects. Compliance in these times* is actually pretty good because the stipend for some trials is $$$ and some have a completer bonus. *irony. I meant once the vaccines are released to the public. Especially if they have side effects. Get one shot, have a day of feeling sick, never go back for the second

Dr. Cox I think it’s a pregnancy thing. I just normally have been creamy all the way, and now I just want that crunch.

lol my husband said it was grounds for divorce. I made myself a pb&j the other day and he kept looking at me like this We only use crunchy for cookies. I'm not a pb fan so I have no other opinions on it. Eldest child prefers Skippy, youngest prefers Jif. Thankfully only one lives at home.

I mean, the celery was mainly just the vessel for shoving massive amounts of PB down my gullet, but "healthy" made my RE/OB happy. Sprinkle a little crushed plain potato chip on top. Trust me.

Sorry for derailing. But on Covid news. My cousin texted us this morning saying she got Covid. She thinks she got it at work. The only thing that worries me if that she lives in a house with her two daughters and their families. So lots of people in the home and just thinking about how would they be able to isolate each other. It’s nearly impossible. I hope everyone stays safe there. She says it’s mild. Who knows. Time will tell.

We have to decide if we will send DD1 back hybrid in Feb (earliest they think it will happen, and tbh I think that it likely that it will be later than that). 55% of staff said they are willing to return, so that is the max amount of students that can return as well. No guarantees on the same teacher or classmates (but I would think that would have to apply to online only too, if your teacher is suddenly reassigned). We are leaning towards keep her virtual, but I'm having trouble submitting the survey.
