jewels , i’ve been meaning to find this thread to tell you that we’ve been going through some of the same issues with Charlie on and off since about late November (mostly the constipation but some seeping and daily miralax). I just had a conversation with his ped, and he said that sometimes the cause can be a gluten intolerance, if not even a full celiac allergy. We’re going to try and go gluten-free for the month, and see if it makes any of those changes better. Then we’ll go for blood testing . I wanted to throw another idea your way in case things haven’t been getting better. Interesting! Sorry to hear you are dealing too. I should try that for j, especially since I have a sensitivity. I am incapable of remembering to give j miralax or benefiber each day, so it continues to be a struggle, I am of no help😔 I have to set a reminder on my phone. I used to have an amazing memory....pretty sure I lost it 2 years ago.

guster I’ve thought of that. He had a whole panel done last year shortly before shut down but I was looking more for immune deficiency. I’ll have to check if they tested for that. As to remembering, it’s just my routine. 1st water of the day gets the probiotic. I fill his water just before dinner w the miralax. So he never misses a dose. He’s been better since I’ve been consistent w the miralax. He’ll go regularly for 2-3 days, then skip 1-2 days, then usually 2 times on one day, then repeat. His worst pee accidents are usually when he hasn’t gone for a bit.

It doesn’t feel so overwhelming bc we do so much gf already. It’s mostly snack choices for the kids. I just spent a fortune to cover the cheese cracker/pretzel, granola bar situation.

I may have asked you this before, but how does his poop look on the Bristol Stool Chart?

Also, something that helped with M was making her sit on the potty routinely for a period of time. The GI wanted me to do it after every meal, but that can't always work unless you're a SAHM with nothing else to do. We made her do it in the evenings before bath. She'd have to sit on the potty for 5-10 min. No electronics. We chat about her day or read books. I know you have to solo parent a lot so it may not be very convenient, but it helps if they know it's part of their schedule and just have to sit there and relax.

As to the chart, it’s usually a 3 or 4. Prior to all the miralax it was 1 or 2

I just saw this - my pedi recommended it too. We do it after breakfast and dinner daily. We let him have the tablet after dinner. Mornings I don’t cuz I’m usually in a hurry to get him to day care. Any reason why you don’t?

My kid is weird.

If he'll try muffins again: www.superhealthykids.com/recipes/power-packed-fruit-and-veggie-muffin-for-picky-eaters/These turkey meatloaf bites have veg in them: weelicious.com/cheesy-turkey-meatloaf-bites/If he'll eat eggs you can try these. You can use whatever veg you want in them. I usually find I have to chop the veg pretty small so they don't notice it as much. Mini Veggie Omelets (makes 24 mini muffin sized omelets) Ingredients: 8-10 eggs 1 cup Daiya cheddar-style shreds (or 1 cup regular cheese) 1/2 cup Unsweetened So Delicious Coconut Milk (or regular milk) Your Choice Diced Veggies! (I used broccoli, spinach, red pepper, onion for this time) Olive Oil Garlic Powder or Ground Mustard if you wish! Method: Mini Omelets cooling before flash-freezing. Preheat oven to 350. Spray mini muffin pan with non-stick spray. Chop all your veggies-- I usually use whatever I have left in the fridge that I want to get rid of! Be creative to your hearts content! ( I will estimate approximately 1 cup of sauteed veggies is what I end up with to mix into the eggs- so you may want to start out with 2 cups raw veggies if they are veggies that shrink when cooked!.) Warm a small amount of olive oil in a saute pan over Medium Heat (approx 1tsp) and then throw all your veggies in. Cook until tender (approx 10 min). Set aside to cool a few minutes. In the meantime- start cracking your eggs! I usually do between 8-10 eggs in a medium sized mixing bowl. Next, add the shredded cheese, milk and optional garlic powder/ground mustard. Mix well. Once veggies have slightly cooled evenly distribute in mini muffin pan. Now evenly distribute egg mixture. (will expand slightly while cooking so don't overfill any of the cups- but most of the time mine are filled almost to the top.) Place in oven and bake approximately 15-18 minutes or until cooked through. Once mini omelets have had a chance to cool a bit, transfer to cooling rack. Once cool enough- transfer to cutting board/baking sheet that will fit in your freezer and flash-freeze. Once frozen - transfer mini omelets to ziploc bag. ** To defrost- I usually defrost these in microwave for 1 1/2 minutes before serving.

My kid is weird. no, that makes sense to me. I started giving him the tablet as a bribe to get him to sit for more than a minute. Now he often asks for it. I haven't noticed any difference as to if he poops if he has it or not, so I keep giving it. And now that I said he has been better with the poop, he hasn't pooped since Wednesday. I just picked up from DC and no luck. Never in my life did I think I'd spend this much time worrying about another humans bowel movements.

thanks tgrimes! he won't eat eggs, but we made a giant batch of meatballs with a bunch of vegies in them that he loves and takes for lunch 2-3 times per week. We made some "green muffins" that he tolerates too. It was a huge batch so when that runs low, I'll try the ones you posted. We tried 3 or 4 other recipes and he ate none of them. But the flax seed whole grain oat & banana choc chip cookies were delicious - I ate the whole batch since no one else in my family would lol.

Just curious...what’s your (anyone’s) magic # of days without going when you really get concerned?
I noticed S trying REAL hard on Thursday to go. She never did produce anything. So I have gave her miralax Thursday, Fri, and Saturday. This morning since she still hasn’t gone, I bumped it up a notch to milk of magnesia. So then I started trying to remember the last time she went...and I can’t remember. So I messaged her aide to see if she went at school any this week. Turns out, she hasn’t pooped one single time at school all year! I usually just assumed when she wasn’t going at home, she was going there. At this point I think it’s easily been 6-7 days, maybe longer...I just can’t remember. I guess I’m going to have to start keeping better track because this has been a bit of a recurring problem.

lfig, I think the longest B went was about 6-7 days, back when he was really struggling. I've learned, with him, that if I don't get a handle on it quickly, it starts a really bad cycle. So now if it's more than 2 days, I really increase all his laxatives and load him up with fiber and water. I think if he went a week at this point, I would give him a suppository or something. Thankfully the laxatives have always worked after a few days.! Good luck.
