Can we do a gift idea thread? I think the littles are getting old enough to really get into the spirit of things and it might be nice to share some ideas throughout the holiday season. This early Nov thread brought to you by my binge watching Schitts Creek (holiday episode on now) to avoid election results

I think I'm going to get Ev a trampoline this year. Maybe as her big gift? Im not sure, we havent really established our own family gift giving rules yet. Shes super into jumping on her bed and uses the crib rail as a handle so I think supervised she will love this

cythe if we had the room for a trampoline I would definitely have gotten that already! I am all here for everyone’s gift ideas. DD1 is old enough to ask for specifics while DD2 just claims to want what her sister wants. We really don’t *need* more toys but I would like a gift or two for DD2 to open.

DD2 loves these Crayola Scrubbies thing. She has scrubbed all the “washable fur” off of hers from so much use so we will probably replace her set.

We have quite a few magnet tile toys but I don’t mind adding to sets of toys we already have so I thought about telling one of the grandparents they could get DD2 this “sparkly” one. Name brand Magna-Tiles are just so expensive though too 😑

cythe Both my girls love the Scribble scrubbies. I’m also thinking of getting a trampoline since winter is coming. danvers We have the magformers brand of those, DD1 just started getting into building more complex things with them.

So far on the list for the girls is snowboarding gear since we got them lessons starting in January. We are going to start tracking down some used gear. Both seem to want the Barbie dream house, I got DD2 this Stacy play set with puppy dogs and she loves it. DD1 has started getting into board games, she loves Candy Land and Race to the Treasure so we will probably get another one. We already have a ton of lego and duplo so I will probably suggest to the family some craft and art sets. And books, always books.
I have to go through the playroom and get rid or pack some stuff away.

We love magnetiles! We were lucky to get a bunch of them for cheap from one of the neighbors on our swap and shop. They are super expensive. I put the scribble scrubbie thing on the list. That looks cute. I'm thinking to get her accessories for her baby dolls e.g. high chair, crib, etc. We also can never have enough books. We've been going through the 5 minute story books at bedtime.

Picked up the trampoline the other day, I'm pleased with my purchase even more so because I got it on sale. My husband did tell me though to be sure to keep receipts because apparently Target will honor sale prices if you purchase after X date and it goes on sale. No idea if thats true, but might be something to consider

danvers never seen the crayons scrubbier...I'll have to check them out. The boys would love them. cythe yes! to Target price matching. I remember doing this once and then within a week Amazon had a lower price and I had already purchased a Playmobil aquariumm set for DS from Target so I chatted with a CSR and she credited me the difference. It would cost them more to restock plus they'd rather not lose a sale to a major competitor. Amazon will also price match.

We too have waaayyy too many toys danvers lil fella will also "want' the same things as DS but he did request a few books. X-marketing does work! at the back of existing books. So Santa will be getting him some books. They're all Leo Lionni books and if you aren't familiar, they are really great books. The illustrations are gorgeous and stories are just charming. If you like Eric Carle, you'll love Leo Lionni. BTW EC was inspired by LL. Personally I prefer LL writing and illustration better and I don't mind reading them a hundred million times a day. We had gotten lil fella a compilation of Virginia Lee Burton's books for his birthday and we're getting him one last one - Choo! Choo! Again highly highly HIGHLY recommend her books. Lil fella is obsessed with Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel and Katee. As an adult I can read them all day too. Illustrations and the entire design for Katee is absolutely stunning and the writing and prose is beautiful. If snow plows and steam shovels aren't of interest for girls, Little House will do the trick. All her books are just beautifully illustrated and written IMO. cythe does E have Duplos? Lil fella loves them and we were lucky my sister gave us hers which is a crazy many so we never got any other sort just because I think it just gets out of hand. How about puzzles? Lil fella started getting into puzzles. We have theseAgain we already had them from my sister hah!

This thread got me putting a list together haha! Like what danvers said whatever big bro want's lil fella wants too...well almost. So I added walkie talkies, binoculars and magnifying glass to the list and a bunch of books. They'll be getting more trains and misc. accessories from the train lot lol! Thinking of maybe introducing normal sized lego sets? ??? cythe do you have any animal sets? We have these and they are great value and have held up with so much abuse. They're good sized too, the insects are huge though which is wild and the kids love them and play with them daily. linklink

My mom gave her some barnyard animals a few months ago and she LOVES them. They're hard plastic and she brings them to bed a few times each week. I think she definitely would love more, probably some water animals

Those of you that are wanting magnet tiles, Picasso Tiles brand are great. We have several sets, and I've purchased more for Christmas gifts. All three of my kids love them, and they have held up well at a much lower price than Magnatiles.

cythe you should get them. They're hard rubber so they won't do much damage to furniture or floor when they throw them around like my kids. I almost forgot, we had gotten lil fella these frogsfor his birthday. Same brand and we're impressed with the quality. We actually decided to keep them for Christmas as stocking stuffers shared between the boys. Well DS wrote a letter to Santa yesterday and listed all the things he really like for Christmas because he had been good this year hah! One of the things he asked for was Pooh bear so we might get lil fella Eyore to complement Pooh I suppose? cythe I have another idea how about lacing beads if you don't already have them and really great for their motor skills and for sorting etc. These are so cute I am so tempted but we already have the M&D ones link

Random gift idea for those still needing ideas... or maybe it’s just me 😂) DD2 is obsessed with toy horses and loves taking baths. Under 20.00 on Amazon so it was the perfect suggestion for that wayward relative who randomly asks a week before Christmas (that would be my younger brothers 😂)

I am so happy to see this thread. Anyone still deciding on magna tiles or similar, do it. DS1 (7) still plays with his and DS2 is now super into them and tries to carry his creations in the car. Best purchase(s) ever.
DS2 is into dinosaurs, so we got a couple toys but I don’t want all his gifts to be dinosaur themed. He’s also asking for a big train.

I was browsing and putting the boys lists for family and came across this! perfect for stocking stuffers if anyone is looking. linkAlso danvers I added the crayons scribble and scrub in the list. Thank you for the suggestion! I've heard so much about the magna tiles and trying so hard to not get any because we're trying to keep to no more than 2 building type toys or I think it gets to be too much. We're heavy into duplos still and have a large Tegu set. curmudgeon I saw this Duplo Toy story train link Maybe? and if you have other Duplo pieces, you can extend it's playability? We've heavy into the wooden tracks and trains and my gosh! it gets played with every minute of the day. For us, great investment. Thoughts on Kinetic sand? Anyone? I added it to the boys family list link

duskymonkey that train is super cute, thanks! He’s getting into legos a lot now so I’m sure he’d love it. My kids love kinetic sand. I think I would be more ok with it once we don’t have carpet anymore. I got a bunch of sand and accessories when virtual learning started so DS1 could be occupied after lessons.
