Checking in on you this morning, polson. I hope you’re snuggling a sweet baby by now but if you’re not, it won’t be long! Sending good thoughts your way.

Congrats polson! Cannot wait to hear his name! I had a moment of sadness last night that I will never name another person. I don’t want anymore babies but I love picking names so much.

Also, yesterday turned out to be in the 70s and absolutely beautiful, so our photographer was willing to do an outdoor newborn shoot with us. The foliage, the falling leaves behind us... I cannot wait to see the photos. G did such a great job- no fussing at all. DD SCREAMED her way through newborn photos. We have an excellent one of her just in mid scream with a huge bow on her head 😂

katespade, that's great that you were able to get some newborn pictures! So glad that G did a great job! How are things with your mom? Has it settled down a bit?

She basically never acknowledged what happened. Didnt call DD for 2 days and then she did and acted like all was good. She’s actually coming tomorrow and agreed to Covid testing without any complaint. She was pissy that I told my sister Gs name (my sister suggested what we ended up choosing as the middle name) but I could not care less 😂

Last time she was here I “made her feel unwelcome in my home” because she literally sprayed half of a can of hairspray in DDs bathroom and the entire top floor of our house smelled like hairspray. I had to open every window in the house to air it out and I asked her why she felt the need to use that much spray when DH has longer hair than my mom’s “pixie” cut (I put pixie in quotes because it is shorter than what I would even associate with a pixie) and HOW EVEN DARE I.

I’m having a really stressful morning. I broke a tooth last night and my dentist is only open 7-11am today, closed on Fridays. I started calling right at 7 and now it’s been over an hour and they still haven’t turned their phone lines on. Their website is down and now I’m starting to question if they’re even open today (their automated message says they are but ugh).
I snapped at MH and the girls this morning because everyone needs me and I just need to not be needed. I also feel really guilty because MH should be working while I manage getting the kids ready for school but I can’t even think straight right now.

sorry for the stressful morning Fearsy! i hope you heard back from the dentist and they could get you in. katespade i’m glad you managed to find someone for photos. we ended up just doing the hospital ones this time - not the best but at least it’s better than nothing and we got a few decent pics. last night was first night at home and it was not great. he gave us one 2 hr stretch. i think he was cranky and uncomfortable from circumcision. he also just wanted to nurse nonstop. i think my milk is finally coming in so i’m hoping that will help. the girls were absolutely over the moon meeting him last night - dd1 basically ran right past me asking where her baby brother was - it the sweetest thing. dd2 is wanting to “pet” him all the time🙃. we waited until literally the last minute on a name and ended up going with h’s choice - al.fred j.ohn. not sure if he will be an alfie or freddie at this point.

Congrats, polson!! Hope you're doing well. Fearsy, I totally get you on being needed. Between DH, DS, my boss- even the pets! I'm everyone's problem solver. I'd like to not hear my name/mom/dog whining for a little while. This baby has been hiccuping non-stop the past few days. It's so weird; I haven't felt hiccups at all this pregnancy until now.

he will not sleep if not held😑 it seems he will be following in dd1’s footsteps. he basically nursed all night and i got 2 hrs of broken sleep. h conveniently forgot to tell me that he has a short case to do this morning. he has essentially taken 3 days off and will be back to work full time next week. i’m a little irritated.

I’m sorry G also prefers being held. He is 100% a mommy’s boy already. And I feel you on the DH front. Mine has to go back next week to start working on the transition.

Oh no, I’m sorry! Hopefully he starts sleeping a little better soon. And yeah I’d be annoyed with YH too. Mine is taking a week off and then back to work, although I’ve convinced him to work from home at least through the end of December.

i just wish he would be more transparent about his schedule. don’t tell me you took a full week when, in fact, you did not. he does this all the time so it shouldn’t surprise me.
on the bright side my milk finally came in. i was getting a little stressed over number of wet/dirty diapers and the fact he is looking a little jaundiced. taking him to first pedi appointment and hoping it’s not too bad.

How is everyone? How are the new babies? How are the inside babies?

How is everyone? How are the new babies? How are the inside babies? G is doing well! Getting better with diaper changes thank goodness. He sleeps better than DD ever did and I cannot wait to see what he weighs on Thursday because he wants to nurse all the time. He is starting to be a bit more alert too. When he’s awake, he’s wide awake and looking all around. He is already trying to lift his head to be able to see stuff. Definitely has FOMO 😂

And I’m good. I’m basically down to taking ibuprofen twice a day (once in the AM and once before bed). I still think I’m going to have a rough looking scar- I am definitely more self conscious about it this time. With DD I was like THIS IS MY BATTLE WOUND and now I’m struggling with my feelings about it.
On the plus side I’ve lost half of the weight I gained, so that helps me feel better.

That’s awesome that G is doing well and sleeping and nursing great! I anticipate that I’ll feel a way about my body after this time. Differently than before due to this being my last baby and also being at my biggest. It’s so much easier said than done but be gentle with yourself ❤️

we are doing pretty well. sleep is much better - he only woke 3 times last night and i managed to shower and get ready before everyone was up for the day. the girls are also doing great with all the changes so far but i’m sure there will be hiccups. i hear you guys on the body front. it’s such a struggle to be kind to myself about it. the nursing hunger is real right now too.
i feel like i’m really struggling with covid stuff right now. im just down (as i’m sure everyone else is) about the holidays and lack of new baby visitors. h and i are both really close with our families and live in close proximity but we decided that we really needed to close our circle back up with the way things are going around here.

Big hugs! Does close your circle mean you’re not having any family visit right now? When do you think you’ll open it up for short visits? We are feeling nervous about it too and thinking at bare minimum we’ll have visitors staggered with short windows for visiting and require masks. It’s such a stressful time.

Ultrasound appointment went well this morning. The marginal cord insertion isn’t causing any issues and baby is still growing perfectly. 38 weeks (technically 39) tomorrow so it’s just a waiting game at this point. I think I have about 2.5-3 weeks left.

Fearsy that’s great the cord insertion isn’t causing issues! you’re so close. as far as covid stuff - we are limiting visits to grandparents at this point. we had his parents for dinner last night and now probably won’t see them for awhile. they aren’t in the best of health and h’s family is being more cautious than mine. i will still see my mom but won’t go to weekly family dinners or brunch with my brothers family. they are total “it will be over after the election” about all of this. my mom and aunt and brothers family have all had it but i guess i’m worried about reinfection? i don’t know this all seems so arbitrary since no one is really quarantining around us anymore and h is in healthcare and working outside the home. we are trying our best but i still feel like we could be doing better i just don’t think i can mentally handle not having my mom around right now

polson, that’s what we’re thinking too. Grandparents but we’ll also have my sister and nephews visit at some point too. My plan was to do an introductory visit so everyone can meet the baby - staggered of course with a time limit before we kick them out 😬 Then I’m sure we’ll gradually see everyone at some point again for Christmas but again will be in our home and staggered because we’re sure as heck not traveling this year. It feels so tough to know what the best choices are and how to stay safe while navigating all of this. Glad I’m not alone in that.
