My place doesnβt do pics anymore, only texted photos. But they do include some gifs which is nice!

Itβs been a while. Iβm bad at check ins. Iβm 19 weeks. Had my anatomy scan today. Everything looks good. Iβm at the point where Iβm peeing all. The. Time. Confirmed Iβm having boy and girl. We werenβt sure about girl so Iβm glad we have certainty now. Yay! I'm obviously partial, but B/G twins are the most fun!

I have a question about babies. Do you keep newborns in your room or not? With DS I lived in a tiny apt and didnβt have room in my bedroom but he was still very close by. Now I have more space, but I would feel better keeping the baby in the nursery (in the snoo with an owlet) from the get go. Is this not advisable? Google has mixed results.

I think studies show that having baby in your room reduces the chance of SIDs, so it's "recommended" for the first year. But honestly, I am not keeping the kid in my room for a year. We had the twins in our room until 4 months, when they transitioned to cribs. I plan on a similar timeline for this babe, depending on how sleep/nursing/all that is going. The nursery will be on the other end of the house so that's part of it for me is not having to trudge as far if I'm still getting up many times each night. I think it comes down to personal preference and if baby is in a safe sleep space, no matter in your room or its own, you're good.

Part of my worry is there isnβt room in our master for a rocker/glider, and Iβm afraid of nursing the baby in bed and falling asleep with him/her in my arms. Having the baby in the nursery at least forces me to get up and move whether itβs for a diaper or feeding or whatever. Also, H is a sleepwalker so I donβt really want the baby in our room with us where he can wander with him/her. π That sounds bad but itβs a real concern.

If you wanna go with kiddo in their own room from the outset, go for it. Technically, rooming in is "better" according to AAP (I think), but if you need the space for your own stability/peace of mind, having you feel comfortable is always what I default to.

I am in the process of switching doctors due to insurance and my appointment is next week. Iβm assuming they will test me early, they did last time but it was a different doctor. I am going to ask to just do blood sugar checks rathe than the drink. I always fail the one hour. Even when I didnβt have it early last time and I get really sick and throw up with the three hour so end result is having to do blood sugar checks for two week. So I would rather skip the drinks and just start with that. I hope they will let me! Good for you for trying to eat well now. I have not been doing so great. At least if we both have it we will have someone to commiserate with. Did you need medication last time? Iβm sure Iβll fail the one hour and I told my midwife I want to go right to testing if I do. I took oral meds for about three weeks just for my fasting and they kept making me too low so I stopped taking them. Aside from that I was diet controlled but they made me get induced early and after two days I had a csection. It wasnβt a good experience so Iβm really anxious for how it will all go this time. That sucks. Iβm sorry your experience was so bad. My mom had it with me (her first) and didnβt have it again so I hope you donβt have to deal with it. Mine was diet controlled with both of my first two but was harder to manage with my second so Iβm nervous about this time. I was supposed to be induced at 39 weeks but went into labor at 38 with my second so luckily got to avoid that. I had difficult deliveries though and both my babies were small or average so Iβm worried if I have trouble managing GD and baby is large Iβll end up with a c section. I get the anxiety!

I woke up this morning wondering if I was really pregnant or if it was all a dream. Must have been in a weird part of my sleep cycle when my alarm went off because that feeling was hard to shake this morning! Never fear, the bump, boobs, and US on the fridge knocked me back into reality!

Just coming over to chat about where baby will sleep. I feel like i have no good option. Our room is tiny and really no room for bassinet or anything. With DS i just decided their was no safe way to have him in there. And the nursery is so close it's almost the same room with doors open and video monitor. The problem is that DS is in that room still and there's not really anywhere else for him to sleep. So the two will have to share as soon as at all possible. How early is that? π¬
Eta: i really should just make a thread on GD to get anecdotes on this. First trimester seems a little early to discuss that, but i keep thinking about it lol

I think the cosleeper we have is maybe 20-24ish inches wide, so it fits in a small space pretty well. Can the new babe sleep in a bathroom, maybe? I've heard some people do that in a pinch when they didn't otherwise have options.

DH will hear DS long before i do if i don't have the monitor by my head. So i couldn't do a co-sleeper cause I'd be terrified of pillow or blanket being pushed in. And i just really want DH and I to have our own room!! I feel DS pry slept better for not being in the actual room where we were getting into and out of bed etc. We could for very short term put a proper bassinet in our room kinda half in our closet cause it doesn't have doors, but i don't want to buy, store, or walk/dig in my closet around a basinet.

Ah, gotcha. The cosleeper I have (Arm's Reach) has the bit that folds up/down and makes it a standalone bassinet as well, so I didn't worry much about my sleeping stuff falling in. I'm also a super deep sleeper and never had a problem noticing my big when she was crying next to me, but definitely did have issues noticing her while she was in another room (monitor next to me or not). Is there any other place for new baby to sleep on the same floor as you other than your or brother's rooms? If not, maybe you could get a temporary shelf or side table thing to put your clothes on so you don't have to work around the newborn in the closet? That would annoy me, too, haha. Basically hugs. I don't know if I'm helping at all, but I know you'll do something that works best for you all. β€

The anatomy scan went well this morning! Took a bit longer than expected because baby girl kept curling up and moving away, so I may need to go back for more pics, but everything looked good. We got a cute pic of her legs up above her head too!
Other than that I think I need a coffee iv drip today. DD1 wet the bed at 3 AM (UGH) and DD2 woke up twice last night prob due to teething. Luckily thereβs no school this week and weβve got nothing else planned so maybe I can sneak in a nap.

We are keeping the baby in our room for the first several months at least. I'm going to get a bassinet for her that goes next to our bed. DS slept in our room for about five months and it was tough for sure. It's hard to share a room with a baby, but it's better for my anxiety. I don't see anything wrong with babies sleeping in their own rooms from the start though. I did and so did my brother when we were babies and we were alright! We also might be moving next summer, so it doesn't make sense for us to set up a full nursery. Once we know if we're moving and if we do move we're going to get DS a toddler bed and then she will inherit his crib. Hopefully it'll all work out!

Anatomy scan went well this morning. Measuring right on track or slightly big and all measurements indicated a healthy little BOY! I am so surprised. Trying to figure out how to tell the kids tonight. My daughter has been team sister from the beginning and told me the other day that if it's a brother, she'll cry, so this should be interesting. I think I need to play up the exclusivity of it being just her and I in the girls club or something. Any ideas??

To follow up: She did indeed cry. Like the put your hand up to your mouth to try to stop it but the tears stream anyway kind of cries. So of course I started to cry. But she quickly agreed that a mommy/L girl's club sounded like a fun idea and she'd like that with a big smile. She's still going to be the best big sister.
