Maybe this was a breather episode leading up to the season finale, but I liked it. I loved the way Mando shows how much he cares for the little one.

I really liked this episode! It was a nice action adventure with some good humor thrown in. Boba Fett’s looking fresh! Looks like Din got a buff job too. Glad to see the jet pack made a reappearance. Yeaaaah Din. Take off that helmet. You could totally see where they were laying the groundwork for it.
I appreciated Mayfield’s redemption arc.
Mh’s little nerd heart is just so happy that Boba Fett is one of the gang and the Slave I features so prominently. He was so excited for Fett to drop that mine (bomb?) on the tie fighters.

Face time with Din this week! Actual footage of me: I really enjoyed this episode. Mayfield was significantly less obnoxious this ep than last season. (Confession, the jail break episode is probably my least favorite from Season 1.)

Oh, my.... {Spoiler}So, quite the cameo! Now I can't wait until Christmas 2021! Wonder if I'll have any fingernails left by that time - worried about where this story is going! I know this is under a spoiler but I'm almost afraid to say any more even here.

Spoiler tag for initial reaction. {Spoiler}There was so much giddy screaming and then SO MUCH SOBBING. Like, literally burst into tears and spent several minutes ugly crying.
Post credits stinger was cool.

Soooo good! What a badass female squad. I loved it and can’t wait to see where they go. I’m okay that they’re potentially writing Baby Yoda out. Honestly I’ve always enjoyed the episodes without him or the ones where he doesn’t have a large role more. Although I do enjoy the space dad narrative. I was never on the super hype Baby Yoda train anyway. I think Mischief agreed with me (I don’t want to tag you into a spoiler).
It was so moving to have Mando take off his helmet to say goodbye. I thought he was going to give Grogu the ball from the Razor Crest. But I guess he’ll keep it and we will get a scene of him holding it in the future and thinking of Grogu.
Loved the cameo. Excited for Boba Fett’s story. The ending scene of him on Jabba’s throne was 🔥🔥.

So do we think the post-credit stinger is going to be a spin-off or Season 3? Because I need to know what happens to Din and Grogu. Need.

So do we think the post-credit stinger is going to be a spin-off or Season 3? Because I need to know what happens to Din and Grogu. Need. I hope it’s a spin off. I want more Din. Maybe an episode here or there where he gets some Grogu visitation and deals with some shenanigans. But I mostly want Din. Is he going to join Bo Katan for a bit? They have to solve the dark saber dilemma.
I’d love for him to meet up with some of his old covert. Especially the Armorer and Paz Vizla (big blue heavy infantry dude). It would be interesting to see how he reconciles taking off his helmet if he meets up with them. I don’t think the creators would have used a name like Vizla, an important house/clan in Mandalore, and not bring the character back.
Do we know if Dune is getting her own spin off? Is that what Rangers of the New Republic is going to be about? Because I could see them setting it up well with her bringing Gideon in and going from there.

@icedtea - my answers behind spoilers: {Spoiler}1. Boba is a clone of Jango Fett, like the other clone troopers (but Boba was unaltered - meaning his DNA wasn't changed to speed up the growing process, etc, and Jango raised him like a son.). Jango may have been a Mandalorian foundling, but since Boba's a clone I imagine the Mandalorians don't think it applies like passing father to son... I guess? And since those Mandalorians in particular hate the empire, I imagine they don't like the fact a clone is walking around in their armor. 2. Grogu is not in the most recent trilogy. So what happens to him is potentially wide open. We don't actually see any of the other Jedi at Luke's new order school/training ground/whatever besides Ben/Kylo Ren. We do know Kylo kills them all. So I REALLY HOPE Grogu isn't there by the time of Force Awakens, but he could have been. 3. I hope so too - the entire first two seasons have been about Din and Grogu's relationship, it can't just end like that... right? 4. Bib Fortuna was Jabba the Hutt's major domo. He must have survived the explosion on the sail barge, while Boba went into the sarlacc pit. So I totally get wanting to shoot his ass. Looks like Bib took over if not Jabba's palace then probably some of his empire, so Boba may be the new crime boss of Tatooine? Honestly, I have no idea if "Book of Boba" is going to be a spinoff or Season 3 of The Mandalorian. I really hope it's the former. IMDb lists Pedro Pascal as the only cast member for Season 3, but who knows what that means. Obviously I'm incredibly biased but I need Pedro back

Mh thinks there will be a time jump eventually. Din helps Bo Katan do her thing. Then they jump to the future so he can meet up with a more disciplined and trained Grogu. Space dad adventures ensue. He is Team Grogu has to split with Luke eventually so he doesn’t get slaughtered by Kylo Ren. He doesn’t think they’d write Grogu out completely.

so, and I really don't star wars that much - Luke left Yoda's training to save his friends. Kind of symmetrical if Grogu leaves Luke to save dad? Well, I cannot stand it if they just leave everything 'like that'. Boba Frett is fine and all, but my heart is not invested in him and his book yet.

Okay. I am here. I’m not a SW aficionado, but my little sister is so I've asked her a lot of stuff and researched in my short time of binge watching the Mandalorian. My thoughts/questions are: Grogu is 50 and trained with Jedi, which implies he was at the training camp that Vader slaughtered with order 66. Who saved Grogu from being killed? Yoda and Windu seem to be popular guesses. This interests me a lot.
I wish Djarin didn’t take his helmet off in episode 7 so his reveal to Grogu would’ve been more impactful. It was so sweet regardless though. I had some wine so was full of emotions and instantly cried when he said goodbye to him.
I don’t want them parting ways but he really became an afterthought I noticed and was too inconvenient to work into the script for a lot of the episodes if we’re being honest. They’ll see each other again I’m sure.
Jango Fett isn’t actually Mandalorian either. He was assumed as such for a long time but then I think in the Clone Wars it was confirmed he wasn’t. There wasn’t much explanation given though, so maybe they’ll explore that? Who can say. There are so many plot holes and inconsistencies with SW for my brain to handle, but I try to not take it so seriously.
I took the book of boba fett to mean a spin-off. Season 3 will probably be about taking Mandalore back. The dark saber bit really complicates things so I’m sure they’ll run on that.
Ben Solo was confirmed to be Luke’s first student, so idk how they’re going to explain Grogu if he’s being taken under his Jedi wing. Does someone else ends up training him? Does he return to Djardin? I don’t think Kylo Ren killed him with his Jedi training massacre, they have to have something better in store.

If Grogu did become the master Jedi we know he can be, why didn’t Luke find him for the sequel trilogy? I haven’t seen all of the new ones, but you’d think he’d have been helpful. If Grogu dies I am going to the dark side and channeling Sith energy.
Eta: he’d actually be less than 100, so still a kid for his species. That very well could be why lol.
ETA2: BUT THEN WHY is Luke how he is in the sequel trilogy? If he had contact/access to Grogu and was still involved with his training in any capacity he wouldn’t be that way.

I should be embarrassed how into things I get. It’s probably a good thing I only started this show last week. My two year old saw Grogu and keeps going around saying that she’s baby Yoda and tries to use the force with her eyes closed now.

Warning there are spoilers.
I nerded out when they showed the tie fighters being deployed. Straight up squealed with delight and replayed the scene several times. So. So. Cool.
The death troopers. I am very 😬 about them. They seem like a Kylo Ren wet dream. Darth Vader wannabes. Yes, yes I know they're droids. That's not the point. The point is they have this very Vader look to them that I don't like. It's not scary. It's silly. Now I see why Kylo thought his helmet was so cool. What can I say, I'm a Vader purist.
When the X wing came my exact reaction: "Watch it's going to be Luke.... Holy Shit. Are you fucking kidding me!... *hysterical laughter*... You know what? Im ok with this. *More laughter*"
When Grogu touched the screen during the lightsaber battle my mind immediately went to "I wonder if he's thinking that the last time he saw someone destroy everything in their path with a lightsaber, all his friends died."
The dramatic droid force crush was very unLuke like. I was a bit taken a back by it honestly. It would be like Captain America punching someone repeatedly to death.
Ok, the fucking Darksaber thing is such incredible bullshit. "Has to fight for it" my ass. Listen, in rebels a bunch of shit happens with Death Watch and Darth Maul eventually Sabine essentially finds the Darksaber in a fucking cave. Uses it to defeat a bunch of stuff and save crap yada, yada, BUT THEN SHE FUCKING HANDS IT TO BO KATAN. HANDS. IT. TO. She does this because she believes Bo Katan to be the rightful leader of Mandalore. (Side note, Bo Katan is the sister of Satine. Satine was the leader of Mandalore. Satine and Obi-Wan Kenobi had a "thing". She was killed my Darth Maul and died in Obi-Wan's arms. Satine has a "nephew" that many believe is her and Obi Wan's love child.) And do you know what Bo Katan did when Satine handed her the Darksaber? SHE FUCKING TOOK IT!!! This guy does a great job explaining a quick history of Mandalore and the dark saber and then does a good job of trying to explain reasons for the whole "take in battle" thing. They're all horse shit theories though. This is what Star Wars does guys, it takes it's Canon and throws it out the fucking window.
So the end credits with Bib Fortuna. I'm fucking laughing that the Hutts would just be cool with Jabba's territory being taken over by a Twi'lek seeing that they have fucking ruled and enslaved Twi'leks for centuries. But Palpatine had a kid so anything is possible I guess. 🤷♀️
I look forward to the new spinoff series.
I have no thoughts or theories on Baby Yoda. See my Palpatine comment above. There are no rules or logic anymore. I think they'd be stupid as fuck to get rid of him completely, solely from a merchandising standpoint. Baby Yoda got people like my mother to pay attention to star Wars. He's a powerful asset to the fandom.
Oh and @icedtea the most likely reason they started fighting in the bar was A. Fan service, Boba is known for being a complete asshole B. Giant pissing contest. Mandalorians are known to have a temper and are quick to fight. C. It looked cool.

I appreciate your deep dive sheilathetank! I do not have the mental energy to remember details of any fandoms anymore 😅 I am very much in watch and enjoy mode. Spoilers below...are we done with hiding spoilers at this point? I forgot about the tie fighter scene, it was so cool to see the mechanical aspect of launching them. I’m okay with a diminished Baby Yoda role but you are right about the merchandizing. So he’ll probably be back. I didn’t know that’s how Bo Katan got the dark saber so that’s obnoxious. Mh has told me all the overarching stories from Clone Wars so I’m familiar with the idea but not the details. Not going to lie, I was more upset they showed the Razor Crest exploding again at the start of the episode than Baby Yoda leaving. Still not over it.
