I have still been bad about checking in here! Not that I have anything to report- hah. It's been hot here, and I am hoping it cools down to at least the 70s so that we can do apple picking/ pumpkin patching this weekend. It was close to 100 last weekend so we scrapped our plans.

Whoa, so hot! We had a crappy September, but October has been a lot nicer. It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, so we're doing a small family gathering in the afternoon so we can be outside 😊 quite looking forward to it.

We have our first COVID case in N's school. It's a staff member who primarily works with the 5th grade. The way our school is set up 5th grade is part of the middle school. 5th-8th in in one side of the complex (same building) and pr-k-4 is on the other side. N has no interaction with any of the middle school kids even in a non-COVID year. But it's still too close for comfort. Two fifth grade classes have to quarantine for the next two weeks. Ugh.

I hope you got to enjoy the cooler weather. We were further south Sat and it was almost chilly swimming with the breeze! It’s going to get warm again though. I really want it to cool some and make some chili or pho soup!

Unfortunately pumpkin patch in 100 degree weather is normal here. It’s always way too hot in October. 😭 @idubhawksfan we did enjoy the slightly cooler weather! We went to Julian, because we have never been, and they had a pumpkin patch we wanted to check out. It didn’t work out because it was super crowded, but we did a gem mining thing instead which ended up being really fun for the girls. It’s supposed to be 88 degrees again tomorrow. 😒

And now daycare is closed for 2 weeks. I’m so sorry! We are one week down, 7 days until he goes back. Honestly I think it’s been good for all of us and it’s probably helping him adjust to having a baby sister at home, but he’s getting tons of extra mom/dad time.

October weather was always the best with less crowds than summer, part of why We picked Oct to get married, but this is excessive. We are doing an OC pumpkin patch wed in hopes of less crowds. They actually require tickets for the wagon ride and reduced capacity to 40%, but I’m still hoping that 4:20 mid week will have less chance of others. Of course it’s going to be upper 80s that day.

Cases are still surging here but so far our area hospitals are OK. DS1 and H got exposed to covid last week (FIL- he’s doing fine). DS1 and H both got tested and are negative- DS1 hated the swab but it was nothing a milkshake couldn’t fix 😊 I reached out to his Kindergarten teacher for what to do for this week and learned the whole class got exposed to someone else in the class so they’re all virtual for the next 2 weeks! Luckily H is home for a few more days with his initial quarantine and then my boss is being very flexible for the rest. My parents offered to watch ds1 but I’d rather keep them apart until we’re past the incubation period.

In non covid related news, my FIL passed away over the weekend. He was 85 and just got an infection he couldn't kick. Sad, but not totally unexpected after his leg amputation a year and a half ago.

Cases are surging here too jules1614, and we have had a few possible exposures recently. Only H has had to get tested so far though. DS1 started in person Kindergarten today so I'm sure it is a matter of time before he is exposed there. It is stressful, especially because most people where I live don't take it seriously. Fx you guys continue to be negative.

I'm sorry for your loss blabbermouthI'm glad you guys are all negative jules1614. AS I have shared before, My H is from WI and we have been watching the numbers there. My state has been holding steady. We went to yellow at one point in our county for school but we are back in the green. My county has had no new cases in 4 days. It's amazing.

What's everyone doing for Halloween? We are not trick or treating. My 6 year old couldn't care less because he's much more concerned about COVID. And E doesn't remember Halloween from last year so he's good. We are going to decorate Halloween cookies, watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, do a candy/toy hunt, order out for dinner, and have one last fire in the fire pit. The boys only know about Charlie Brown, dinner, and fire pit so they should be excited.
