It's rainy and dreary here (so much for our pool reservation at 11) but the temp/humidity has dropped and it's starting to feel like fall--yesterday was amazing.
DH went out to Dunkin' so I had my first pumpkin spice donut of the season...mmm.
We have some odd projects to do around the house and I think we're going to take the kids out for seafood tonight.

Morning! My sister and 3 nieces spent the night and we are lounging with coffee while they play. My house is a disaster (they aren't tidy people) but that's ok.
I put the heat on for the first time because it was 57 degrees in the house when I woke up!

Morning ladies. We can go out for the first time in over a week! Yay! This week felt like a year long.
The girls have been working hard at school so I got them new pj's yesterday. Footie style without the feet. They loved them.
Going to take Lily on a long walk. She's been so bummed but seemed to understand it wasn't healthy and wasn't begging to go out.

I talked to ds about the meeting we had with his teacher yesterday. I tried not to put words in his mouth and just ask how he felt at school, if he felt okay and safe. He cried so much. He talked about not knowing how to make friends and that he missed his old class so much. It was heartbreaking, even Dh got emotional (mind you this is the guy who didn’t even cry at our wedding or when the kids were born...). We told hem that are probably lots of kids who are feeling like this at this point. We talked a lot about to cope with feelings like this, how to try and make new friends and that it most likely will happen at some point naturally. We also emphasised that he can always always always come and talk to us.
We made his birthday invitations afterwards to show him that he does have friends, even if they aren’t all in his class. I made a group chat for the parents to give them a heads up and all seven kids rsvp-ed within an hour. He was really happy when I told him. Parenting is hard people!

Morning! H has soccer at 10, which is in the middle of Ls nap so we are going to bike there so L will (hopefully) nap in the burley and we can all go to soccer.
We have family pics this afternoon. It’s going to be a beautiful day and the leaves are just starting to turn so hopefully we get some great pics!
I bribed h with ice cream to smile and look at the camera and we’ve been practicing all week. He’s the king of looking off to the side with clenched teeth. We’ll see if this works.

Morning. Last night work was a shit show. So busy and I kept having to police people that were, or were trying to break the rules. I was glad to get out of there. I came home and pretty much went straight to bed. H has a soccer game at noon today.

I finally got a slot to have my groceries delivered about 5 weeks ago and I have to say I love it! I get the bulk of the food I need for the week, make a mealplan every week and stick to it most of the time. Our house and fridge are small, so I do need to head out at least one more time, but it is saving me a lot time and money.

I’m sorry he’s having a rough time nam2013. Is there anyone in class he is somewhat friends with that you can set a play date with? I’m thinking having one person he knows is his friend will help and that person is a gateway to others.

I had to go to Walmart again today because the Bakugon I got C a couple weeks ago broke. Of course I threw out the receipt and packaging. It’s only $8 but annoying. And of course I spent $80 there.
It’s my brothers birthday so we are going to my parents for a small dinner tonight. His kids are there as well and C hasn’t seen them in months since our state was blacklisted by CT during the last time they would have been down. We are dropping C off a couple hours early to play. I’m hoping to nap during that time.
I have so many feels about RBG passing. She spoke at our court in 2018 and was amazing. We did a court field trip to see her documentary as well. She was an amazing person and did so much for women and our country overall. I love that young people saw that and recognized it. I’m hoping that this and the TikTok ban will really get them out to vote this time.
I’m trying not to stress about the open seat since it takes an average of 70 days to appoint someone and I am hopeful Trump will be voted out and congress would hold off on appointing someone. I do have a similar feeling of doom that I had November 4, 2016.

I’m thinking having one person he knows is his friend will help and that person is a gateway to others. One of the girls from his class he has known his whole life (her dad and I have know each other since birth, since our parents are best friends) and he has a few other girl he’s known for a while that he’ll talk too/play with. But he sort of doesn’t see them as friends. I think part of it is adjusting from kinder to 1st grade, missing his best friend that went to another school & really missing his old teacher (she really was the sweetest ever). We invited a few kids for his birthday in a few weeks, i’m hoping that will help a bit. It’s just sad to see your kid like this.

nam2013 it’s hard adjusting to something new. Maybe because there are so many new kids he feels he feels alone. I agree with PP and set up a play date with one of the new kids.
Big hugs you are an amazing mom.

C let me rest upstairs for a little bit this morning and him and L made banana muffins. I was able to get a test done and watch a couple episodes before he had to get ready for work. E is down for a nap and I’m letting L watch ducktales whole do some more homework. Afterwards we will all play a game.

nam2013 its good that he can talk to you about it. This is a hard age for friends I think. Im sure in time, he will find his people! One of my best friends came by last night and some neighbors came over, so we got the fire pit out. Sat outside drinking until 1am. Im so tired today, I napped on the sofa and am feeling somewhat normal. Im way too old for 1am!

The girls and I spent way too much money shopping today. I had a bunch of those "buy $x and get $x off" coupons where they trap you into spending money you wouldn't otherwise. It was fun though.
Got home and sent them to the park. Now I'm watching a movie.

Finished a paper and two tests and started writing my project charter for school. Did a load of dishes that C left me from making me muffins and working on the 3rd load of laundry. I’m about to start my yoga for the day. I’ve really noticed a difference in how I feel at the end of each day when I do it. I wish I had time before work to do yoga but right now I’m unwilling to get up at 3 am to be able to do it.

Hi hi - we had outdoor haircuts this morning and N was miserable but it looks great. Mine...TBD, she said she likes the length and was going to shape it or take an inch or two off, but it is a LOT shorter. She did a conditioning treatment so to was in a pony all day, hoping it's okay. She said it'd be $100 for all and then tried to tell me it was $159, and I was not pleased and paid her $qpp plus tip since the text said as much.
Our new deck looks great except minor detail that acorns STAIN in the rain🤦 it's already dirty. My dad and SM came over to see all the work and get takeout and it was really nice. We also have the new sitter starting on Tues, so operation get our house semi organized has commenced.
I want to get down to SCOTUS to pay my respects, but not sure I am. Mh and I both yelled from across the house last night when we found out, such a loss. And so scary for the future.

Morning! My kids need to learn that weekends are for sleeping late. More rain here today; we have pool plans with some friends in the neighborhood but I'm thinking those are going to be nixed. High is only 78 here...yes, laugh away, but that is fall weather in FL, and we will take it! DH is talking about a Costco run and I'm hoping the kiddos will want to go with. tgrimes how is H doing, any improvement?

Morning. We took the kids to the dunes to pre-walk the treasure hunt well make for ds’ birthday party in a couple of weeks. Good thing we did, because not all of the route was clear.
Lots of bibs and bobs around the house, more clearing the garden, Dh touched up some of the outside window sills, folding some laundry. We have a walk by birthday party in an hour & I think we’ll head out for icecream in a bit.

Morning! Trying to make a meal plan for the week but I'm in a rut. Just cleaning, grocery shopping, ect today over here. Seriously silly, but I made a list of all the things we eat on a regular basis (30 dishes or so). Each week I look at what’s left in the fridge/freezer and at the list and then make a mealplan. It is not the most inventive thing, but it makes things easier.

It’s amazing what antibiotics can do and he’s only had 3 doses. You’re sweet to check on him.

tgrimes my dad used to make that last one quite often, he just add a layer of spinach to add some veggies. I’m really craving this dish lately, but no one in my household will eat this except me ☹️.
ETA glad H seems al little better!

tgrimes glad he has improved! That Rachel Ray recipe looks good, as does the CBR casserole--similar to something I saw in Southern Living this month. Might have to try that!

I'm laying in bed but doggo is waiting for me to get up. She's so happy to go outside again.
Taking the girls to the Children's Museum today and when we get back playing baseball at the park (casual play is fine, watching several hours of a game is torture).
