For some annoying reason I think I do both. I do the same thing with caramel and Caribbean, change how I pronounce them depending on the sentence and/or context. Why am I the way I am🤦♀️ I think I say the T sometimes, but I voted no T because I think that's how I pronounce it the majority of the time.

I pronounced the T until first grade. We were going over words with silent letters and I could not figure out why the word often was there alongside salmon, knight, etc. Mind was blown but I never went back to pronouncing the T. Oddly enough, I still waffle between sal-mon and sam-mon.

I can’t even figure out a regional breakdown with this one. Just knowing where some of you live roughly in the country. Why do some of us say it different then?! This came up in a discussion for my homeschool language arts curriculum and it didn’t appear to be regional there either.

I say the T.
I think. I always second guess myself in these debates and am like “do I even know that word? Do I ever say it?” Lol

Often rhymes with soften No T I eschew all internal t’s if I’m not thinking about it. At best they are soft dd’s. Mih-ehn Kih-ehn Off-un Soff-un Mown-ehn (mountain) Fown -ehn (fountain)

I need a win here after discovering no one but me says “trash bin.” Pronounce the t! I must have missed this but I call it the trash bin too.
