I want some low profile sneakers to wear with jeans, are easy to travel in, and are neutral.
I like the look of the Converse Shoreline, or maybe just the low-tops. But, I'm considering Vans, too.
I think I would prob prefer a roomy toe box (thanks to a bunion). I know Chucks can be narrow, but I don't know about Vans. Is there another brand I should consider?

I normally don't like the slip on look but for some reason I like the look of those Van's. Maybe it's the color that I like. But you can't go wrong with converse so I think it depends on the look and function you want. I like that the vans have no tying involved, because I personally dislike shoelaces. Because lazy.
In other words, both? Lol.

Also, I used to have a pair of red Toms that I loved the look of, but there is basically zero support, and I need something more supportive than Toms

I can't afford them until I win the lottery, but Rothy's has styles you might like.

My Allbirds are very comfy. I also have a pair of slip ons similar to those Vans (Dr. Scholl’s brand) and love them. They can be dressed up a bit more and not so casual.

I have the Converse Shorelines. They’re comfy now, but just a warning that they took a while to break in!

I love my Vans slip one. I also find converse to be narrower than Vans.

I have Dalmatian print classic slip ons and I loooove them. I think they’re technically a “custom” print and I got them directly from Vans. I have white chucks too and they get dingy but if you’re not walking through dirt or mud they’re fine. I usually throw them in the washing machine every 4-6 weeks and they do fine.

rugger it sounds like we have the same size feet. My feet are a bit wide, too. I get an 8.5 in converse

They have a bunch of other slip-on styles too.

I have the converse shorelines (they don’t tie) and I love love love them. I bought one pair of vans and they 1) run big and 2) felt very heavy to me. I gave them away. Also I don’t think it took long to break them in. And I don’t have trouble with them being dirty. I sprayed them with waterproof spray.
Re support: have you considered insoles? I have 4 pairs of dr. Scholls plantar fasciitis insoles that I swap around between all my shoes. It’s a lifesaver.

The tendons in my arch are always super sensitive/tight feeling when MH rubs my feet. I feel so torn. Maybe I need both to try out and see which I prefer wearing.

I think it’s just a matter of preference and fit.

Maybe gray ones would look good?

Well, conviently, my 2:30 client cancelled, so I'm going to use that time to go to the outlet mall and try on both Vans and Converse to see which I prefer.

Well, I'm still not sure what I want... The Shoreline (converse) is too narrow, but the classic low top fits well. Prob need inserts to help with support. I tried on a Vans slip on at one place just for fit and thought it was really comfy, bit then tried on one in the actual Vans outlet, and I didn't like the feel of the elastic 🤷. Maybe I need different socks? But I did kinda like the look/feel of the "authentic" shoe.
Soooooo, I still don't know.

I think I need either inserts or slightly thicker socks (I was wearing some no-show barely there socks) for both. I'm terrible at these decision...Maybe I'll make S decide.

My Allbirds are very comfy. I also have a pair of slip ons similar to those Vans (Dr. Scholl’s brand) and love them. They can be dressed up a bit more and not so casual. So I always feel like I'm trying too hard to look young by wearing Vans or Converse. So I saw this post this morning and finally got a chance to order some gray Dr Scholl's slip ons. I didn't even know gray was the next topic on here . Thanks rugger for reminding me I needed new casual shoes for cooler weather, and thanks mc13 for bringing up Dr Scholl's! www.zappos.com/p/dr-scholls-nova-steel-grey/product/9404609/color/30172ETA I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest on here now that pip has peaced out.

Oh, I totally struggle with this, too. I already look enough like Bieber, so sometimes I feel like if I wear chucks or Vans, I'm going to look even more like a 12yo boy.
