I love Nova and Juniper! Nova seems like it’s gaining a lot of traction around here. I know of 4 under the age of 10 and one 40 something.

One of my nurses is named Nikohl. I'm going to WK this one only bc I worked with a Nicolle from the Czech Republic. She changed the spelling from something similar to your nurse's spelling when she became a US citizen. I don't remember why she did the two l's though.

My husband and I are both teachers. We’ve never taught in the same district, so we’ve never had the same students. When we were picking names for the kids, our list of names we liked were very different, but our blackball list of names that had been ruined by students were almost identical.

My sister texted me a picture from a teacher resource that included a child named Siege

L's preschool class has:
Charlotte Evelyn Roan (pronounced Rowan, which I would never have guessed) Christian Kristen Alison
I actually came into this thread because I have crazy name regret about L and I like reading about names. I let my husband push too hard for his choice and I often think about legally changing the name. But he's 4.5yo so I think that ship has sailed lol. His given name is Leonard. We call him Lenny, but some of my family have taken to calling him Leo. His French family members all pronounce it Lay-oh-nar. His teacher calls him Leonard. I've considered changing it to Lennon because then he could keep Lenny, but yeah, that's probably not going to happen.
On a positive note, our new baby's name is Camille and I love it.

Hi mintyblueair! I have missed you around here and wondered about your new babe. I have your DS’s name in my family so I have an affection for it. Love your DD’s name!

While Leonard isn't my style, I actually really like the Leo nickname.
I also have name regrets sometimes with R (Raegan), especially because we spelled it differently than the more common "Rea..." spelling, so people always misspell her name. But she's 8.5 now, so there's no going back. Sorry, kid 🤷

I took a year-long break but I started lurking again a few weeks ago and then I thought, what the hay, may as well start posting lol. Baby was born in September!

I love my other DD's name (Naomi), too, so I guess 2 out of 3 is OK lol. I like the name Raegan! And at least with that spelling there is no confusion about the pronunciation. Maybe it's a Canadian thing but I've heard Reagan/Regan pronounced Ree-gan.

I thought for sure we would just call her Rae (hence why we spelled it that way) but she prefers her full name, haha!

T was born Matilda, called Tilly from birth, but now she's called Tilda, Tilly, and Matilda, so I vote that you can call him whatever!

Hi mintyblueair! Glad to see you back. Congrats on your new baby! I love Leo as a stand-alone or a nickname. The only Leonard I’ve ever known went by Leo.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm sending in his Kindergarten registration form soon so I've been wondering if I should put Lenny or Leo in the "goes by..." section. I don't want to confuse him. I asked him and he said to put Lenny but I feel like this might be the way to make Leo a thing...

Yeah, I actually have been trying to use it a bit over the past couple of weeks. He was pretty resistant at first but I think I'll persist in using it here and there and see if it starts to feel more natural eventually.

I totally planned to use a nickname almost exclusively for DS2 and I only use it like 5% of the time. 🤦🏻♀️

A college friend named her son Pemb.roke after the dorm she and her wife lived in at our alma mater. The reasoning is sweet, but not a fan of the name

We went for a drive yesterday to get some subs, and while DH was waiting on them I was sitting listening to the radio and they were talking about horrible names and "these poor people have to live with these names". The few that stood out were D'Tron (pronounced D-comma-tron), KVIIIlyn (Kaitlyn), and Jakas (Jak-A-es)

The 3rd sounds like it could be foreign but those first two are just woof.
