School work went pretty well yesterday. The HUB wasn't working properly but I think they have it sorted out now. M had her first piano lesson and it was pretty hilarious since not everyone has a piano/keyboard yet. I need to figure out how to access her art lesson today. Sometimes they're live and sometimes they're recorded. I still don't quite understand it yet.

Morning. Cold, rainy day here. Dh is leaving for out of town in a bit so he’s going to drop N off at school on his way.
I’m having a rummage sale this weekend so I’ve been spending all my time getting ready for that. I cannot believe how much stuff I have. But now it looks like rain Friday afternoon thru Saturday which is really going to be a problem.
Dh asked me last night if I’d be interested in babysitting for someone we know for a couple of months. I think he’s about 6 weeks old. I might be considering it. Am I crazy? We don’t know details yet, not sure if it’s a full 40 hours a week or more sporadic. But I figured if there’s an end date, it might be doable... it’s not something I want to do forever

Did I tell y'all what my work is doing right now? They're making everyone, including the attorneys, submit their daily tasks along with how long it took to complete each task. That's for people in the office and working at home. Apparently there are some supervisors in our Houston office covering for employees to make sure they still get paid, even though they don't have much work to do.
I hope I don't get fired or moved to part time because not a lot of work is getting done while virtual learning is happening...

I hope you’re able to relax your mind for a bit nam2013 maybe try and think of some things that have helped in the past and try and make time to do them. Thinking of you. I hate that a small group ruins it for everyone like that tgrimes, reporting every small task seems the opposite of productive. Hopefully you’re not affected.

wow tgrimes that sucks. Sorry they are making you do that. slenle remind me what school is like by you? Is N in full time or are you trying to help with remote days sometimes? Is H in Preschool or home with you? That would effect my opinion as to if you are crazy to add watching a baby to the mix or not...

Today is the first day for the girls. Last night was their virtual open house. They were both excited to "be back" even in virtual capacity. I'm a bit worried about Cass' teacher and the tech component and hope we don't have a repeat of last year (her K teacher couldn't get a Zoom session going for the life of her). I'm in the office today so it's up to MH to navigate. These first few days should be fairly easy though because for Cass it's just a morning get-to-know-you session and that's it. I probably won't hear how they did until I get home because MH was being a total dick last night and I don't feel like calling him and I doubt he'll call me.

N is hybrid, but her at home days so far have consisted of 1 worksheet. I’m sure they’ll start adding more soon. But I’m also confident that we’ll be back to full time in person sometime this fall. H is in preschool MWF mornings. Dh just asked and the gig would be from mid October until thanksgiving. So 6ish weeks. On one hand, I know it would be crazy. But on the other hand, it might be good for L to have to share me a bit more.

slenle last year when we were on half-day K, one of my neighbors reached out to me about possibly watching her K student in the mornings before school (she was also on afternoon session). I gave it some thought bc it would have been easy cash but ultimately decided against it bc I felt like I would be too tied down...didn’t necessarily want to be shuttling another kiddo with us to C’s preschool drop-off, B’s speech appts, errands, or being worried about if one of my kids was sick, or we wanted to leave town, etc. I say all that not to discourage you, just to share my thought process. In my case it would have been for the school year and not just a few weeks or whatever; if there had been a time limit I might have done it, more to be helpful than anything.

Also, hi!
Got the kids out the door, picked up a Target order (trying to prevent myself from mindlessly wandering the aisles/spending on dumb stuff) and got groceries. Now I’m having lunch before heading out to get C.

tgrimes were the attorneys not already doing that essentially with billing? When I was in commercial design we had to keep track daily in 15 minute increments for billing purposes. I know a couple attorneys who bill in 6-minute increments (which seems like torture) Definitely sounds like more busy-work, regardless :/

I’m sorry you’re having a rough time nam2013 Have you considered talking to a counselor? It may help you prioritize your worries and find strategies to lessen them. Sometimes we need permission to let go of something. This past weekend when we went to my in laws I avoided the news and didn’t use my phone a lot. Even being here can cause me extra worry because I tend to take on the worry of those I care about, which is all of you. My guess is that you are pretty similar. Lots of love! I’m sure this is all extra hard being pregnant.

I did an Instacart order mostly because I was running out of vitamin water. Of course the delivery person didn’t deliver it. I know she bought it because we chatted about it. I hate that I can’t reach the shopper after they deliver. I’ll have to get to the store today or tomorrow now.
We have a zoom tonight for all K and First grade parents at Cs school tonight. I’m hoping I get answers about drop off and if when bus schedules will be posted. At this point I don’t even know if we are on the bus route. I plan to drive Monday but it would be helpful for the rest of the week.
Also PSA Old Navy has a $3, $5, $7 deal on kids clothes. I got a few good things for the rest of this warm weather and bought a couple things for next year.

We’re here for you if you want to talk/vent,@nam. Hugs! I’m a lot like &flamingo in this situation, slenle. I think I would want to help but it would stress me out to be off of my routine and also not be able to have the freedom if things changed. I think I might let the person know that i would be there in emergency situations, if needed. tgrimes, that kind of micromanaging drives me batty.

For my Netflix romcom friends, I watch The Lost Husband last night and I would say it was good but if it had a sex scene and it would’ve been a lot better. I’m looking forward to the one with coach from new girl and Rachel Leigh cook. It looks really cute.

I have to brag on my girl for a bit. I am about a week and a half into virtual learning and I’m not really happy with the synchronous piece of it, but today when I asked her if she was okay with it (without too many leading questions) she said that she was looking at it like it was a recap of last year and she was sure that things would get more challenging soon. I wish I could be as magnanimous as she is.

We only get paid when people pay their delinquent taxes. Our clients are government entities like cities, counties, school districts, etc. Our attorneys have it made because they basically just show up to court and to marketing events. We do all the work.
