We are meeting my MIL's bf today. We are grilling outside and they are stopping by on their way to a cabin somewhere. They've been talking/dating/whatever they call it for a year now and it seems pretty serious.
Then doing house projects all weekend and heading to the beach on Tuesday 😎

This morning we went on a walk, did chalk in the driveway, and cleaned. I’m on like my fifth load of laundry.
DS1 has requested that we do a lot of “science experiments” this weekend. One day we will probably do sprinkler/pool in the yard.

The weather is amazing so we will be outside a ton. Went for a hike last night and then an all day playdate with my bestie and her kids today. We will be grilling and drinking wine and letting the kids run wild.
Tomorrow will be a lazy rainy day and then swimming at my sister's house on Monday.

Just settling in at home, and dealing with a plumbing issue. We were going to be released yesterday but then W lost too much weight and they decided to keep us until today. I wound up having a breakdown so since she gained a (tiny) amount as of this morning, they released us but we have to go get her weighed tomorrow. My parents brought F home and he's kind of obsessed with his sister. He keeps patting her head and saying "nice", it's adorable 😍

I got my hair cut this morning and feel like a brand new person. We’re just puttering around this weekend, getting ready to start school next week.

We were up and out early with the girls and the dog. Hiked at a state park, played in the water, then went to a local cider house to have lunch and a drink. This was the most “big kid” thing we’ve done as a family and I loved it. Very minimal whining and everyone behaved so well. Can’t wait to do more things like this!

We're in a different town for a "hot air balloon lift off" event that's not really an event anymore because of COVID, but they're still doing the early morning launches and evening "glows". Except the event organizers aren't telling people exactly WHERE the balloons are going to be (to try and keep crowds down)... So, here we are, with kids and both dogs, in a town we don't know, sitting around hoping that we picked the right place, with hungry kids and a so-so motel reservation for tonight because all the other nicer hotels are full of all the other people coming into town for this. (And S decided last minute we should do this)
And I'm feeling discouraged and like we kinda wasted our day here. Like, why didn't we spend the day at home and THEN come into town at night so we didn't have to spend all day in the heat with the dogs and bare minimum snacks??
Sorry for the rant. I'm feeling annoyed that S ALWAYS pushes limits with this kinda stuff.

One day we will probably do sprinkler/pool in the yard. L loves science too and picked up from the Zoey and Sassafras books that "nature study" looking for bugs is science. So we do that everyday and it's my favorite bc it requires no help from me LOL. Unlike making slime or soap.

My favourite science experiment is freezing mixtures of paint and baking soda in ice cube trays and then giving them a container of vinegar and a bunch of different droppers and syringes.

Ok, so we ended up finding a spot, and it was pretty neat to see.
Hoping we get to see some in the air this morning

I am not a morning person.
Time to organize girl scout packets, go through a history lesson for the older 2, and read.
The last few weeks I've been working on reading regularly. It's been a nice reminder that I really do enjoy reading when I make the time. And it's been a nice escape from news, politics and stress.

Took the kids to a local walking path today. It is a lot easier with just two instead of all three. The big one is difficult.

I will say, it's very freeing to take the kids out alone instead of just being stuck in the house all day because someone never wanted to go out and do anything.

I made a yarn hanging thingy for R's room. I think it'll look good one we start to slowly decorate and things come together.
I'm thinking of painting the bed a creamy white and doing an accent wall behind it.
