What are your unpopular confessions and opinionated thoughts? No need to unjumble things here, today. We're all mixed up and no one cares.

Everyone should know what vegetables growing on a plant look like.
Someone visited the farm I work at the other day and she kept identifying tomato plants as PEPPER PLANTS and I was like, okay, lady, you're 70. What is happening.

Yesterday I got so so mad and overwhelmed at my kids that I threw a stroller.
No children were in the stroller at the time. Or present in the driveway.
It was also broken and that fact broke my heart.
I need some self care time. If someone tells me to get up at 5:30am to get a half hour of self care, I'll internet-slap you.

I feel really guilty that I didn't push harder for H to practice writing/reading this summer.
I simultaneously feel like he's only six, he'll be fine, it's a weird year, who cares?! AND but he was screwed out of learning to read comfortably in K, he's behind, he's never gonna catch up with remote learning!!!

I had a sex dream the other night that involved one of MH’s very good looking friends (that lives nowhere near us and we haven’t seen in person in over a year).

Two nights ago I kept dreaming about peeing and I’m pretty sure I almost peed the bed.
Eventually my brain woke me up enough to go to the bathroom.

I can feel this pandemic pushing me away from people I care about just because these circumstances are putting our differences into stark relief. Some differences are dealbreakers, and it's a bummer.

I have to go to the school this morning to pick up a packet of papers for J and I'm a) excited to leave my house for the first time in a week and b) annoyed that I have to leave my house after managing to stay home for a solid week.

BM told me yesterday to just get up early to do some work since I was frustrated that I never get a full day of work in. Almost slapped.

I haven’t filled out P’s daily reading log since school started. And now I don’t even want to start. I legit wondered the other day what would happen if I just... didn’t fill it out.
Same reading log makes me irrationally angry at mh. We both work full time. Why am I the only one who has EVER filled out the reading log? Are you not also a parent?

I was reading a chapter in "It's Ok to Go Up The Slide" about reading/homework logs and how it completely takes away the responsibility of work from the child and puts it on the parent. And how the author suggests having the child sign it and the parents can talk with the teacher about the student taking responsibility for their own work.

We had bingo sheets last year for E. Hated those as well. I know you are trying to make learning fun, but just stop with demanding more from parents and kids after a full school day.

I’m real glad your first grader can read and write. But I’m over here on ovenrack’s bench and having P fill out her reading log would be 10,000 times more work than just doing it myself.

Oh, I thought maybe it was just a signature/initial line that she could just write/scribble a "signature" for each day. I've actually never seen a reading log, so maybe I should just hush myself. I feel like, if the teacher hasn't said anything, I would just not do it. Or just say in nice words "we won't fill these out, but don't worry, we're still reading together every day"

The one year D was in public K, I filled out the reading log "he read a bunch of stuff" and gave that to the teacher. She chuckled. It was fine.

I had to pickup a book at our local bookstore which is now OPEN and I just have M today so I took her with me cuz I wish she'd read more. We really miss the library. We even rode our bikes there which was a first and felt great. 50 some odd dollars later....at least she's quietly reading while I do some work. I sure hope the school libraries are open in some way this year because reading feels so tied to something they are interested in. She's also reading the xavier riddle book about harriet tubman - so I'm waiting for allllll the questions - cuz we've never seen that episode.
ETA: I suppose its a confession that I went into a store (my kids haven't been in any stores in months) AND UO that I want the libraries open and am fine with it. I dont think germs travel with books, for real.

Our city libraries keep all returned items on a "96 hour Covid hold" before releasing to the next person in virtual line. They started in June even though we're a county of concern to our governor. No Covid traced to library items here so stringy, your UO is popular here and your confession is not flameworthy to me. I've been going to the grocery store with a mask every week for months. Libraries are Lyfe. ETA clarity

I would rather bake something for my kids than bake with them. I would also rather cook dinner than eat what my husband makes (with a few exceptions.)

Is your library doing pickup? Ours (same network) is going curbside pickups. Though it's harder for H to browse.

I went through my life past age 12 wearing glasses all the time, or contacts. When I got pregnant the first time, my eyes changed and I couldn’t wear contacts and my glasses bugged me and and....
Long story short, now I just only wear them when driving or sometimes watching movies. Life is just kinda fuzzy all the time. My vision isn’t THAT bad, but still, when I say it out loud, I’m like, WTF is wrong with me.

Oh and FYI the Xavier riddle book doesn’t hold back. As in I likely won’t read it to P.

I have an astigmatism in one eye and I've always just been all "whatevs" about it. But I think that recent headaches are being caused by that, or at least it's not helping. So, you're not the only one who's been going through a fuzzy life. I'm pretty excited about defuzzying my life now though.

Lasik surgery at 24 which was awesome and literally life changing. 20 years later, I need glasses now to drive but get what you're saying. It wouldn't harm me to wear them all the time but I just don't wanna.

My bad eye improved with pregnancy (I have one good eye that's almost 20/20 and one bad eye that is nearsighted, so can see ok with both eyes, but my eyes get tired and my depth perception is not perfect). I haven't worn my glasses in a while, although I should put them in my car for when it starts to get darker earlier since I do probably need them for night driving.
