I am wondering where this is because the lake we are visiting this coming weekend is supposedly having one as well...but the local law enforcement isn’t going to let it happen. They were also supposed to have a tie up party, but that got cancelled as well. Which I’m happy about. Lake Travis in Austin Well fuck.

My H hasn’t been able to come to a single appointment. No ultrasounds, nothing. It sucks and I hate people. My H made it to one appointment this whole pregnancy. One. It's been pretty frustrating, but I'm far from a FTM so it wasn't the end of the world for us. I feel for FTMs or people doing this is states with much tighter restrictions. I got a stat on my covid test Saturday when I was admitted then we were both allowed to be mask free while in our room, even when doctors and nurses came in. I can't imagine if I had to have the labor I did and the pushing I did in a mask. And I'm very pro masks, but God damn that would have made things really unbearable I think.

thatgolfb that’s so fucked and sounds exactly how my institution would handle it. Definitely how mine and multiple others near me are. And I can think of at least 4 health care workers who had to go in while having a family member + at home. Now that our peak has passed and our hospitalization numbers are low there seems to be more wiggle room.

It’s so weird the “Karen’s” calling out others for being Karen’s. Who aren’t the actual Karen’s in the scenario. It’s like the Karen inception. All the rightwing idiots on my Nextdoor now call any and all women with whom they disagree, Karen. Regardless of their ethnicity. Um no Chad, that black woman refuting your right wing talking points about BLM is not a Karen. Nor is the Korean woman asking people to continue to wear masks so our city's covid numbers stay low. Ugh. It's so fucking aggravating.

It’s been fine and I do love my OB. And I’m all about protecting others! It’s just so frustrating that he can’t come, while these jerks refuse to wear a mask or have parties. I assume I’ll wear a mask in surgery (RCS) and H will as well. But I think we can take them off (assuming CV negative) in recovery. I’m going to ask for lots of the good drugs. 😂 Oh we totally would have worn them if I had my RCS. Opted at the last second to VBA2C and had a 24 hour labor with a failed epidural and 3 hours of pushing. Sorry guys, I don't feel bad not wearing my mask for that after my covid test came back negative. Hard pass.

Saw DS1’s 3rd grade teacher today. We chatted about the much rigidity of the spelling test rules and covid school life. We discussed and she agreed with the leniency I was requesting. She called him over assured him that if he is paying attention and realizes he didn’t hear one, he can raise his hand for a repeat, but only if she is one word away.
Thank you for those who responded, I really appreciated knowing that I wasn’t being OTT about it.

I’m so sorry, my wonderful friends. This should be a lovely, happy time for you. I hate that all this is infringing on that.

I'm sorry to all the current pregnants. The stress this situation adds is just so unfair, I wish things were different.

White people ruin everything. Waaaay back in the day, like 2003, I always went to a techno fest hosted in downtown Detroit. There was always a stand selling tees and tanks with the logo “I am sick and tired of white people”. I know I bought a tank top and really wish I knew where it is. So fitting almost 20 years later. Yes, I’m white. But I also understand why we ruin everything. 🤣 Detroit Electronic Music Festival? I was there in 2003 as well.

I am looking into a backyard baptism for my twins currently with just my immediate family and my friend who will be the godmother (one of the two friends aforementioned, actually). I keep forgetting to call the pastor that baptized my oldest (he's a family friend, we don't belong to any particular church). But I understand that it is different in Catholicism. I'm sorry you will have to wait so long! I think I’m going to ask for a private baptism with just my priest and the Godparents pretty early. I’m just so torn because there are strong theological reasons for me to wait until we can do it at Sunday Mass but also there are reasons to do it early. And....thank you for coming to this episode of Not-So-Drunk Theology on Tap. 2 of my 3 kids were baptized in post-mass ceremonies with one other baby to also be baptized. Personally I liked the intimatacy of it. My parent's church doesn't even do baptisms in the church anymore. They recently built a new church and renovated the old space, which is all connected, and have a big fancy font. There is a small font in the church, but I'm not sure it's actually been used.

McBenny, thank you for further validating my LOLNO to DD participating in marching band. I'm sad for her, sure, but a pandemic is not the time for marching band. She will have to keep playing her clarinet via Zoom for now. My 16yo opted not to participate in marching band this year because he didn't trust the other kids so we didn't even have to convince him to quit. FWIW I don't think ours has had any cases yet and they've been practicing since the beginning of July, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if cases were covered up either.

My Karen's can be any color. I had a Karen moment myself and it saved me money. I was a Karen and mentioned to a manager at Target back in the spring that the customer service rep at in store pickup should wear her mask over her nose, not just her mouth. I honestly waffled on it a bit but it was the 3rd time I saw her (my store wasn't doing curbside yet) and I was like "I'd hate for her to get sick because you know you can't trust the public to act right." But that's way different from 60yo white dudes calling any woman who points out why they're problematic "Karen."

DS was having a shitty night last night, so we went to get ice cream. He begged to go inside, so we tried it out since only two other cars were there. I was fine with how they handled things, but then DS started acting a fool. He coughed once, and I helped him cover his mouth. Then he thought it was super funny to keep fake coughing. He got a mom-whisper of SON THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BE FAKE COUGHING KNOCK IT OFF. I guess that's what happens when he hasn't been in a restaurant in almost six months. Sweet baby Jesus.

Apparently virtual learning is not going well. Last night the principal sent an email stating that they knew the county was having connection issues, no, the teacher cannot answer emails in real time as they are teaching simultaneously and they are working on getting things running smoothly.
Then he followed that the many parents who inquired about kids switching back to brick and mortar can contact: and he listed the names of the faculty facilitating that.
It is day 3 and many who opted for at home are apparently trying to come back. We did not have the option to school at home, and I do feel so bad for the parents who chose this and apparently it's a nightmare... but maybe give it more than three days before completely abandoning the idea? But, everyone has the choice so I get that too.
DS's class sizes were small. Looks like that will come to an end. lol.

Here if you chose virtual you have to stay virtual the whole 9 weeks. You can switch out of in person to virtual whenever you want though

Here if you chose virtual you have to stay virtual the whole 9 weeks. You can switch out of in person to virtual whenever you want though Yep. You can go out or right back in. I got the tone from the principal "you hate virtual? then come back here" ugh. The teachers are doing what they can. Your classes are the same because it is basically a live stream of the B&M class. So you go right into school (or out). They said they did it this way due to if we have a quick closing. The kids just pick right up where they were, no beats skipped. Except the virtual kids are having connectivity problems and there is no real "teaching". The problem is... if the virtual kid needs help or the parent has a question, it is not addressed in real time. Because... duh. The teacher is teaching.
They also all use schoology for their work, both B&M and virtual. Well last night DS did the next days assignment that was loaded for the virtual kids instead of the HW cause it is just labeled by assignment, not date. Amuck!
This is all for middle school and higher. I think the elementary kids had to decide for the entire 9 weeks by the way.
