I'm at level 3000 with my husbands friend who didn't postpone his wedding. Husband is in it. I point blank told him toddler and I would not be attending, especially following the Maine outbreak from a wedding. And the news that several small outbreaks in MN stemmed from a wedding. Granted, I was already annoyed with this wedding because its on Halloween, which only happens to be my favorite holiday of the year. I know 4 women who have gotten married in MA over the last few weeks with lots of people in attendance, and in all of their pics, not a mask in sight. One this past weekend had all sorts of cutesy signs about Sweet Caroline being banned (touching me, touching you) and sanitizer bottles reading “spread love not Covid”, but no social distancing, no masks. Like your signs mean squat if you’re not actively practicing safety! Yikes. I've seen a few of these myself but haven't been able to judge the size of the events from the pics posted

ldubhawksfan, nelzie, and other Iowa people...I just saw the ISU reversed their position and now won't have fans at the game. Reynolds had a press conference at 11am saying how it was good they were having fans and her old standby "If you are worried, just don't go" and then two hours later they announced no fans. Lol.

If I had to fly, I would definitely be scrambling for an N95 to wear in flight, along with a surgical mask and glasses. dc2london, maybe your H can at least persuade your in-laws to wear full PPE on the trip. That should reduce the risks a lot.

I know everyone is surprised by this. Still sad. Even if people make bad choices, I’m still sad for their loved ones. I just really wish they had all socially distanced and worn their damn masks while revving up their motorcycles. Viruses don’t care about personal politics. 😞 And wtf to risking your life for a SmashMouth concert. That part really does not compute to me.

These governors should just stop talking and have their Health directors or epidemiologists from their state universities run the pressers and decisions. You can go up there and introduce the scientists, Kim, but then STFU.

She is the one that T invited to join his CV task force. Kim doesn't listen to the other doctors or folks from the state universities.

Add me to the list of meanies that won't visit with parents/ILs. We live 4 hrs from both. My mom asked me recently if we would meet them in the middle for a picnic or something and is big mad I said no. She yelled at me about how I took DD to B&N for 5 min to pick out a book because she earned a free one 🙄. And if we met with my parents the ILs would want to see us too. We haven't seen either since Xmas. Both of them are taking way more risks than we are even though they all have some high risks.
Someone in my dad's office had it recently, my mom is babysitting my nieces and my sister works in a health care setting, plus still meeting with people and getting haircuts, etc. My ILs can't sit still and go somewhere almost every day; store, haircuts, farmer's markets, the zoo, doing stuff with their neighbors/friends, interacting with plenty of people. It just doesn't feel like a good idea. It was easier when we lived in CA and couldn't drive there.

Ok smart people, why is the CDC suddenly in charge of halting evictions?? I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking maybe people couldn’t be evicted if they have medical problems, but that still doesn’t make sense and didn’t know if it applied to everyone. I haven’t looked at the details. This year is so fucking weird.

So...how many days of having a fever would you go before requesting a covid test?
My kid is on day 3 of having a fever. The highest it has reached is 101. It goes down quickly with Advil. He is saying his stomach doesn’t feel great on and off but he’s eating fine for the most part. He’s been tired and has some snot in his nose. Ugh. No known exposure but it could have been brought in.

I would have said 3 days for a fever to be seen if generally ok, but for my kids that is usually an infection. Could be a sinus infection? I'd probably start with calling the ped.

Remember how I posted how proud I was for Univ of IL for all their planning, testing, tracing? Apparently there are some students ruining it for everyone. There have been some big parties, students refusing to participate in contact tracing, going out and about even WITH a positive dx, etc. Someone even figured out how to fake a "healthy" screenshot on their app to enter a school building. Like, I figured kids would still party and mingle but to willfully ignore a positive diagnosis and host a damn party??? It's like society on a micro scale. It's really disheartening. Congrats on possibly ruining an in-person learning college experience for everyone, I guess. "The campus's models had already anticipated parties and people not wearing masks — but they did not take into account that students would fail to isolate, that they would not respond to local health officials' attempts to contact them, or that students who had tested positive would nonetheless attend and host parties." www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/09/03/909137658/university-with-model-testing-regime-doubles-down-on-discipline-amid-case-spike

It sucks too, because it's only a small percentage of idiot students. Just like with the rest of the world.

Ok smart people, why is the CDC suddenly in charge of halting evictions?? While I was driving to work, NPR told me that it was a move to pressure congress to get moving on legislation for rent relief. Even if tenants can't be evicted (good), right now they still owe all the rent, along with any late fees that are continually piling up (bad). Also, not all landlords can absorb the cost of tenants who can't pay, so they need help too. Also, people who are evicted moving in with others or into a homeless shelter = increased spread.

I’m sure it’s true, it just seems strange that the directive is coming from the CDC and not a housing-focused agency in HHS.
