Minerva hugs. I’m so frustrated with VA/Northam. Has he even acknowledged covid lately? We should be traveling to CT to meet our new niece soon and now who knows when we can do that? I’m sorry. I hope you get to meet your niece soon. ❤️ Northam has been quiet as a mouse lately. I feel like he just wants everyone to forget he’s even in charge.

Hi everybody. I'm a very sporadic poster but I was hoping you all could help me out. I know some of you are part of the live events industry or are adjacent to the live events industry so you already know about this but for those who aren't/don't.... The live events industry is lighting up buildings around the country tonight red. (I know for all us politically blue people this is hard, but.....) This is being done to bring national attention to the fact that live events is dying. We cannot come back until it is safe to gather thousands of people in one place. PUA has ended. Regular unemployment is running out. There are 12.5 million people in our industry who lost their entire livelihood and don't know when/if they will get it back. If you can/are willing, I'm asking if you could maybe put a red light in your window, change out your porch light, just for tonight. Just to show solidarity. And if you can please contact your congress people/senators to ask them to please, please extend PUA, pass the RESTART act. Help live events. Here is a link to have a form letter sent to your reps. Thanks!!! app.govpredict.com/portal/grassroots/campaigns/pwaiiq7t/take_action?fbclid=IwAR31CZqTlU9CMMar6J2dfCZRe0-GLRXRO-sGcWsSp7xDfZA23pGu5JlfksE

I am dreading making decisions about N's birthday/Christmas. Trying to put it off as long as possible. We're supposed to head to the NC mountains in 60 days with H's parents (from NH) and grandparents and I'm very ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh about it. My mother is asking to come for Thanksgiving from MA and I'm ehhhhhhhhing that, too. Everyone is dying to see my kid (its been over a year for my mother and since christmas for the inlaws) and I feel like a total asshole wanting everyone to stay the fuck home. I'm just envisioning them in packed airports and planes during the busiest travel week of the year and then being here AHHHHHHHH But they haven't seen the kids since February. So I feel like a giant jerk. They have been *very* careful. They aren't doing this lightly. They just miss their grandkids and are trying to calculate how they can see them.

msdrdg Maxine Waters just read a letter from one of her constituents who works in the entertainment industry in this subcommittee hearing and talked about how they can't "just go back to work." (Dumbass Gymsling Jordan yelled right before her about how the whole problem is people not being 'allowed to just go back to work') So your concerns are being heard, at least a little. I'll call my people today.

So, I think this is what you mean by that first line but if they are exposed on their travel there and then are around your family they could easily spread it to you. I feel like it doesn't matter how careful they have been leading up to travel, that all goes out the window when they step in the airport and then onto the plane. My ILs just traveled back from FL where they have been since last fall. My kids haven't seen them since last December. They quarantined for two entire weeks once they touched back in the state before they even came to see my H from a safe distance and with masks. I can't imagine being around them as they are just stepping off a plane. And goodness, this seems judgey and I really don't want it to be. I know you are safe and take all precautions necessary. Just, for me, I don't think I would be comfortable even if I felt like a giant jerk saying no. But you can totally ignore me because my kids go to daycare every day so I am a mess anyway. And I miss my mom a lot, who happens to live 9 houses away.

Quarantining isn't an option as FIL is a small business owner and basically can't miss work. I hate this. My mum is going to come down but she's driving so it feels very different.

They drove up from KY and are pretty good at quarantining at home minus necessary grocery trips and doctor appts. My parents live in FL and even if they were to do strict quarantine, even though they’re already pretty careful, the second they step in the airport / on the plane, all that safety goes out the window. And none of us can afford to rent them an Airbnb or whatever to quarantine for 2 weeks and then come over to our house. And it’s KILLING my parents. We haven’t seen them since December and they are beside themselves, as they were planning on moving here permanently to be close to DS, but have pushed it back to the spring /summer / when covid ends. This all fucking sucks

I had to tell H that, no I wouldn’t be happy if he filled in for someone at an in person fantasy football draft this week. This is after he did his in person and admitted that no one was wearing masks. I’m so very annoyed.

Even if that is accurate it's still 9000 people who died that didn't have to... Right? It's just so dismissive and disrespectful of everyone that has died, with or without pre-existing conditions, and their families. Where they want to discount comorbidities in counting covid 19 deaths, I reply with the info that 105 million adults in the US have high blood pressure. Not to mention those who can't afford to go to the doctor to find out they have hypertension, so the numbers are higher. Not to mention the number of children and teens that also have hypertension. Almost half the adults in the US at higher risk of dying of covid 19 because of hypertension. We don't want all those people to die. And you can do the same with obesity, cancer, blah blah all the other comorbidities that put you at higher risk of death if you catch covid 19

I told him I understood but he knows it’s not safe and we are supposed to go on vacation with BIL, SIL, and nephew next week (which will be over two weeks since the first draft happened) so he can’t go anywhere until then. He KNEW it was wrong. I’m always the bad guy. Sigh.

I don’t think it makes the point they think it makes. I mean, I have some of those preexisting conditions so it’s actually terrifying to me to look at how it impacts people with those more.

I'm still trying to process these stories of people throwing parties. I cannot imagine being around that many people right now. I just don't get it. Even seeing parties on tv makes me uncomfortable. A bunch of kids partying in 1985 on a five year old episode of The Goldbergs practically gives me hives.

(I'm sure you've made this point to him)

I'm at level 3000 with my husbands friend who didn't postpone his wedding. Husband is in it. I point blank told him toddler and I would not be attending, especially following the Maine outbreak from a wedding. And the news that several small outbreaks in MN stemmed from a wedding.
Granted, I was already annoyed with this wedding because its on Halloween, which only happens to be my favorite holiday of the year.
