Hi,
Does anyone here do open water swimming as a form of exercise?

Find somewhere with easy in and out access and minimal weeds. Clear water is nice but if you can't see the bottom it's definitely fine. I usually prefer not seeing what I'm swimming with, lol. If the water isn't going to be warm enough invest in a wetsuit. Look at triathlon ones or scuba one that actually keep you warm with no added drag, not cheap ones from a sport store that are meant for like water skiing or whatever. But even that's something I'd back burner until you decide you like open water swim. DO buy a safety buoy though so others can see you, especially if you'll be in water shared with boats or any other kind of water crafts. Plus if you get tired it'll give you something to hold onto for a minute. Always let someone know when and where you're going and when you'll be back, assuming you're going alone. You can also look into local triathlon clubs. They'll often host open water swims and if you don't want to actually join the club you can usually sign a waiver and pay a couple bucks to join them for a single workout. C is doing well! Her hand is pretty much healed, but we're doing OT multiple times a week and daily scar massage multiple times a day trying to combat her fingers healing contracted. The middle two where she had the second graft are definitely struggling so it's going to some serious work to get her fingers straightened and regain full function. She'll otherwise be fine. I'm good. I had a baby!

First of all SSQQQUUUUEEEEE!!!! Baby! Congratulations! Baby is probably ready to start a running streak. Did you mention if its a boy or girl, I forgot?
Also, glad your daughter’s hand is healing, good luck with the OT.
I found a little group to swim with, everyone has a bouy and no one swims alone, there is always someone staying close to shore and other people doing 2 miles. Will definitely look into a wetsuit esp now with winter coming.

A wetsuit will also make you much more buoyant so it'll help on that long swim! You know an ironman has a 2.4 mile swim? Sounds like you found crazy swim people! I kid, have fun! I hope you like it. There's something very refreshing and nice about open water. And baby is a boy!
