Hey fitbitters, is there a challenge this week? Invite me. My new stepbet is starting this week, so I'll actually be up and walking. I just sent an invite out.

L is doing quiet time and E is napping. I just finished the test for this week and have started working on my homework for next week since it will be the “finals” for this class. It’s also the last class for summer and I start the winter session the following week. I’m hoping to get the homework done this weekend so I have a weekend off.
Does anyone of thoughts on MBA programs? I would really love some outside opinions.

chrisy01 I took the GMAT about a decade ago and was strongly considering an MBA...then I met DH and my life started going in a different direction, so I ended up not pursuing it. In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t. From what I’ve read/learned since, and from what my dad (executive recruiter) says, these are my thoughts... general MBA’s have kind of become a dime a dozen, to an extent. Because they’ve become so commonplace, the MBA has lost some of the ‘prestige’ it once had. Because of that, the rank of the program you (General ‘you’) choose has become extremely important, in terms of that degree being considered an asset. In Certain jobs or industries MBA’s are certainly expected, or you need one to check a box and continue moving up the ladder. If you want to specialize in a very specific area/sector of business, it might be worthwhile in that case, also. If you are trying to pivot to a different career/industry or just increase your salary, it may not be worthwhile (again, unless your specific employer or industry requires it) and there are other things you could spend the time (and way less money on) to help you achieve those things (certifications, etc).

Since I will still be in the same job I can get my masters paid for by my company. So I’m looking to determine what kind of MBA program to enter. I guess I’m looking into some insight into which MBA people went for and why and what your thoughts are on it.

flamingo since my company is paying for it, I’m think why the heck not. It will help me move up in my company but with the different MBAs I’m unsure of how I want to proceed.

I think you have to figure out what you're going to enjoy, but also what will best parlay itself into your profession/industry. Are there people you work with (maybe higher ups) who have an MBA? What did they specialize in, do they feel like it helped them, or would they have been better served with another specialization? From there I would target schools that offer whatever schedule you'd need (online? part-time in person?) and the specializations you're looking for. That will help narrow it down. Several of the MBA programs I was looking at held events with their recruiters/admissions people in my city, so I went to those to get more info about the individual schools and programs (I was considering leaving the workforce and going back to school full-time). I also took a GMAT prep course before taking the GMAT, which was helpful. I had been out of school for a few years at that point so it was a good refresher, esp. on the math.

So the schools I’m looking at won’t require the GMAT. However now I’m thinking maybe I should take it just to see how I would do. What’s your thoughts? (Question open you anyone but curious on your thoughts flamingo )

(Question open you anyone but curious on your thoughts flamingo ) Hmm, Idk. All the schools I looked at required it at the time, but I know the consensus on testing has changed even in the last few years, probably moreso with Covid. I might reach out to someone from admissions at the schools you're looking at and get their take. If you're a good test-taker, it may bolster your application to have a good score. I felt like the GMAT was a lot like the SAT. It's completely computerized, IIRC.

chrisy01 I agree I think all of it is industry dependent as to if it matters or not. With your job, is there any specific raise/promotion if you complete a masters? I do think the knowledge is great. For je, personally, I went bc I felt at a crossroads - what am I going to do e my life sort of phase. I thought this would give me an idea or help me figure it out. It didn’t. And I get nothing from my career for it. But I work in a field where hands on experience is vastly preferred over academic. But I am still glad I did it I don’t know if that helped at all

Hey guys! I’m sorry, I’m Tapatalk 99% of the time and I guess tags aren’t working right now. I’m happy to hand over modding duties. I hope I can still post here sometimes!

Will I have the ability to change the private board password or do you need to do that?

He finished up the joices (I dont think I spelled that right 🤔) and is now adding deck boards! He bought this system to attach the boards where no screws show. It takes longer to put each board on but damn, it looks great! And no screws to worry about the kids catching a toe on.

And there's this sweetness. J is always A's helper and he bought him a tool pouch like his when he ran to the hardware store this morning. He's on cloud 9.
