I’m in WNC and asked my husband why the house was shaking. He thought I was nuts until my mom called and was like... WTF. My kids are at their grandparents about 45 minutes from the epicenter and apparently thought it was the most exciting thing ever. Hiya neighbor!

y'all should have seen us when we had a tiny earthquake in DC. We were SO EXTRA. Wait was that the one that was centered in Louisa county in 2011ish? I was most definitely touring a wedding venue and the lady screamed it's an earthquake and RAN TO THE BASEMENT OF SAID VENUE. 1) totally abandoned me, her customer 2) I had no idea what earthquakes were like and legit thought it was the subway (forgetting I was no longer in NYC) 3) didn't know what to do but felt going to the basement was wrong so I just stood in a doorway until things subsided

I've been in earthquakes in CA so I wasn't really bothered but people were losing their minds

We lived in Seattle for a number of years and felt plenty of earthquakes. There's been a couple small ones in NY since we've been here and people lose their minds everytime.

He has never lived this down.

Granted we were only 30 miles from the epicenter, so it was a bit stronger for us, but still it was hilarious some people's reactions.n

I had been sent home from med school sick, to the point where I had to use my inhaler, which made me super shaky. I vividly remember walking through CVS to fill my prescription when an aftershock hit, and I was convinced it was all from my albuterol. So I just ignored and kept up my wandering around the store. Until DH called and asked "did you feel the earthquake?".

I don’t think in any other year I would have reacted strongly but it’s 2020 and my brain was just like... “ENOUGH”

The one time I felt an earthquake was when I was working for a defense contractor and I was in a tank outside doing testing. My coworker and I felt the tank rock back and forth which was super weird because it's a tank and heavy as hell. After we finished we went back inside and heard that there was an earthquake.

I felt an earthquake in Illinois like 11 years ago. It was early in the morning and it woke me up and DH then bf later was like what? No there was no earthquake when we woke up. Then we turned on the tv and bam! Earthquake! (Pre iPhone times!)

The most scared I have ever been while teaching was having 25 five year olds on the first floor of a two story building on the second day of school in the middle of that earthquake. I knew what it was instantly having experienced a mild one before but trying to think of what to tell my students some who didn’t speak English very well to be calm was a challenge. That is one of those searing memories. Of course since our classroom was under other classrooms the next week anytime the class above ours all got up to go anywhere and you could hear the chairs scratching against the floor the kids would shriek about it being an earthquake. I’d be cool with never having to repeat that experience.

I still haven't gotten to experience one.
