I totally agree with you. Plenty of kids go to school with coughs/ sniffles, because they constantly have them all winter. But the school sick policies could (and should) change with covid to be a lot more strict. Honestly I am skeptical of any district following through with any in person schooling based on just the logistical issues. I just don't see the point, when they are probably going to just have to go virtual at some point due to an exposure. That's just my opinion, though. I would rather have the consistency of virtual only than the back and forth of in school/virtual/repeat. I would much prefer in person schooling *in general* for many reasons, but it just doesn't make sense right now. this and the risks are why we chose virtual. Consistency was the main reason. Our school didn't offer virtual so we chose homeschool because of consistency. I've since found other pros to the decision but consistency was my #1 reason. That and I'm not paying tuition for my kids to do worksheets at home. I can do that myself a lot cheaper.

Our elementary plan is constant calls and live lessons throughout the days. No idea how working parents would make it happen.
We have to decide by Monday.

I’m so annoyed that they told me not to show up more than 5 minutes early for my ultrasound appointment to reduce waiting time and capacity, yet I’ve now been in the waiting room for 40 minutes because they are running late. I like the system where you check in from the parking lot and they call you when they’re ready.

I don't know how to say this without giving at least *some* identifying info, but I think it's important enough to share. A certain hospital teaching hospital near me is doing weekly Covid grand rounds, with a different focus each week. It's for everyone to view, and yesterday's was about Covid and kids. Multiple experts shared information and cited their sources. I know YouTube as a whole is not a valid source, but I promise they included all of their sources within the video. I am only halfway through yesterday's, but so far, I have found it very informative.

Ohio's governor tested positive today. Cue the antimaskers spouting off how worthless masks are and he is the proof. 🙄

I'm thinking of adding typing in the mix. I just got DS’s chrome book set up last night and the district has some typing app loaded. We are starting tomorrow and DS is mucho excited. I help this helps with some of his independence too.

Evidently the test administered by the WH this morning on Gov DeWine was an antigen test and the PCR test they performed this afternoon came back negative. Going to follow up with another test Saturday. I guess I'm confused. Antigen vs PCR? How is a less sensitive test coming up positive but the more in depth one negative? thatgolfb?

The antigen test IS less sensitive, but is more specific, i think. It perhaps picked up some of the viral particles that the PCR test didn’t pick up? It’s very possible. But I can’t say for sure.

Thank you! I just grabbed some Oof I hope it’s not as smelly as the one my hospital currently has. Yes we are using germ-x bc the regular supplier has none. It looks like our materials management dept went to Target and bought the whole shelf. And it smells AWFUL. 🤮

I was so excited when I saw it and splooged a bunch onto my hand and then I gagged bc of the smell. I hope it’s just my hospital’s version though! But whatever, hand sanitizer is hand sanitizer. I used like a whole mini bottle yesterday when we inadvertently ended up at a playground.

My husband stopped at our local grocery store on his way home today and actually scored 2 canisters of lysol wipes. But he said he was the only person wearing a mask. Literally not a single customer or employee wearing a mask. WTF. I hate it here.

Our district (central CA) tried to compell us to work from our sites. The union pushed back because for one thing it meant that all teachers would have to bring their own children with them to the on site YMCA daycare or keep them in the classroom with them. Increasing the number of people using public restrooms, photocopiers, etc. Also at home you can spread your own kids out in the house, keep them in child proofed playrooms, etc. Our community Facebook page was LIT UP with parents complaining about how dare we! And not one person was worried about quality of instruction being better from a teacher teaching from site. It was all, this sucks for me so why shouldn't it suck for you too. I have to pay for daycare, why should you get to stay home with your kids? It was so disgusting. The union won and we don't have to go in. We need to show our classrooms for 20 min two times per week and it can be as a live teaching session, a recorded lesson or used as a backdrop.

Anyone bought masks for a 2 year old they liked? Can't find any that small.
DD showed interest yesterday and let us put and too big one on her but in effectiveness it was obviously useless.
I'd love to take her out and about on errands more often since she doesn't go anywhere anymore.

They're made to shrink when washed on hot and that helped too. She also has a Joah Love adjustable one that fits well. The Crayola ones we bought for DD1 also adjust and fit DD2, plus they have a nose piece so they can really customized the most.

I would take a picture of your classroom and use it as a zoom backdrop.

I knotted the ear straps for a tighter fit.

We got the plain ones with no design
