I’m donating blood for the first time ever today. One part small way to help in Covid, one part curious about antibody testing.

We need to decide between a 4 day a week, pretty much everything as normalish school, or legit homeschooling. (Yes, we have a virtual option. No, it's not actually an option to keep a 5 year old engaged in front of a computer for 6 hours a day.)

France’s numbers are okay, slightly rising but okay. Our health minister announced yesterday that towns will be able to individually mandate outside mask wearing (it’s already mandatory nation wide inside public spaces).

We finally got word about school next month. They are doing a hybrid model in school (with distancing / masks/ hyper sterilization) and remote learning.
On one hand I’m glad she will get to do some in person learning but I can see how this schedule would be difficult for someone who has to go into work. I can’t see how that would be managed.

We start school this Friday and I am not ready.
But August is mine and MH's birthday months so there's that at least.

Has anyone been able to find Lysol/Clorox wipes recently?

Has anyone been able to find Lysol/Clorox wipes recently? No. I went to Lysol’s website to see if I could order right from them but it links back to amazon, which has nothing available. I sent them an angry email. Something I never thought I’d do in 2020

On one hand I’m glad she will get to do some in person learning but I can see how this schedule would be difficult for someone who has to go into work. I can’t see how that would be managed. One of many reasons we decided on distance learning over the hybrid our district is doing is because the schedule is unworkable for our schedules. It’s 2.5 hours of in person 5 days a week. They are either in the afternoon or morning cohort. And they are expected to finish the rest of their work remotely during the other half of the day. Even though both H and I work from home, there is just little way we can drop everything to take him to school, then drop everything again to pick him up 2.5 hours later. Then figure out where he is in his work and have him finish it. This is for second grade where he’s still not independent with basically anything school related (we’re working on it 😰). We just felt like having everything at home and working around our schedule (except for the live portions) was a better option for us. It’s not the only reason we opted for that, but it was a big part. Of course, this is only doable because we WFH. This all sucks.

Has anyone been able to find Lysol/Clorox wipes recently? Last week H found a 5 pack at Costco and bought it. He got there right when they opened and they had just a few. He said they were gone by the time he put his in the cart. I saw them one time at our grocery store since March. I bought two and wish I would have bought some more. We supply our house and H’s grandma so I’m stockpiling for fall and winter and will share as needed.

We have 2-type antibody tests available for 19€ at each pharmacy. They tell in 10 minutes if you have been or are currently infected. In Paris there are 20 stations set up for free tests for those. The hope is that 700,000-800,000 people will be tested per week.

Oh it’s happening here, too, so she didn’t even need to make the trip to Riverside! Churches are congregating at beaches with no masks or social distancing. And of course all the comment sections are “BuT tHe PrOtEsTs, if the protesters can do it why can’t we?, just call it a protest!” Fucking idiots.

I actually wanted to sign up, but we are TTC soon probably, and I don’t want them to waste vaccines on me since getting pregnant would probably make me ineligible to continue anyway.

Has anyone been able to find Lysol/Clorox wipes recently? I actually just found one small container of Target brand disinfectant wipes this morning (1 per customer), but they did not have Lysol or Clorox brand.

This has been on almost all of my local friends’ social media. Lolsob. We were just talking about this in our neighborhood! It seems like every time a storm is headed for us it shifts or fizzles our. We’re all actually prepping this time because 2020 is the year of no holds barred.

Lol I filled out the survey, and it told me the CDC recommends that I seek emergency health care (symptoms from my disabilities - they haven’t changed, and I’m monitoring with my medical team), so I think the odds are none. I’ve been participating in a few COVID related trials since April/May. One might have started in March. They’re primarily on the psychiatric side - how is this affecting you. Study duration ranges from 6 months to a couple of years. The exception is a study on how COVID is affecting accessing patient care for patients with disabilities that need in person frequent treatment. If you have the time, I strongly recommend getting involved in medical research. I’ve been in some studies that are disease specific and require in person testing, and I’ve been in a lot where I’m filling out surveys for someone to get their doctorate. I’ve been paid for some of them, but haven’t been paid for all of them. There’s always a need for study volunteers - both healthy and not healthy. I mean, make sure that it’s a legit study and has gone through the IRB process and has been approved before participating, but it’s a lot easier than most people think.

Has anyone been able to find Lysol/Clorox wipes recently? No. And it drives me nuts that local people keep saying that it’s fine to open up as long as vulnerable people like me stay home and don’t go into stores, but everything that’s scarce requires in store pickup and isn’t available for curbside (ex: locally, for me that’s most soap, hand sanitizer, most cleaners - the other day I couldn’t even do a curbside pick up for a method all purpose cleaner that isn’t a disinfectant - it said I had to go inside). H looks when he goes shopping, but we’re limiting his exposure as much as we can because of my health issues.

I signed up, but had the same doubts about being selected based on the survey questions. The only additional risk factor I have is sending my kids to childcare during the day.

School is set to resume as normal in September, with grades 4-12 requiring masks. Numbers are low here still but I’m on the fence about sending DS. He’s 5 so it’s more for the social aspect than anything else. SS attends in Toronto and is going back, so he’ll be our biggest risk factor in terms of exposure.

I’m very high risk from complications and haven’t been into a store since before lockdown March 13. It’s so frustrating. DH did find Odoban at Sam’s Club. It’s a disinfectant. And I have bleach so I have stuff to clean but would like some wipes. I have had luck finding hand sanitizer online recently at Bath and Body Works. I’ve also seen Hempz brand on a few sites. I also ordered Method foaming hand soap refills on Amazon last week.
