DS2 started his new daycare today. I'm a little bit of a mess because the boys haven't been been apart very much at all, ever. I know this will be really good for both of them but it's such a big step. My husband started teacher's meetings today so it is just DS1 and I at home this week and then he starts preschool on Monday. He's converted the kitchen into "his new office" so apparently we're both working from home. 😂 PDQ

danvers Taitai thanks. He is really cute but he's also really ornery! lol He did ok yesterday - he was VERY happy to see DS1 and me at pick-up. She said he was emotional after nap-time and he told me, "Mom I've been crying for you." He talked the ENTIRE way home and then was a mess most of the night. He wasn't terribly happy to go back today but did ok at drop-off. Considering all of the changes going on with DH starting back (he's become a Daddy's boy) and being separated from DS1 it's going ok I think.

Hey guys. I hope everyone is doing well! I thought I'd do my quarterly check-in 🙄 We got a MF puppy. WHY did we do this? I'll tell you why. We lost our big guy in May and the house was too empty without him. New puppy is crazy. Cute, but crazy. Here is a picture. Sorry if the size is weird. M has been going to school since the beginning of quarantine so no real change there. She is going to move to the next class at the end of the month 😮😮 have another picture. This one includes part of the jungle that is my house.🌱 PDQ

codex320 I would totally have scooped that puppy up too. Had we known the stay at home stuff was going to last as long as it has we would have a dog too. And your DD looks so cute - and is her hair really that long?! ☺️

I'm waiting for a private trainer to email me back. She is too much. M's hair is long! It gets so tangly when she's sleeping. I have to spray with detangler and brush while I rarely brush my own hair. 🤷♀️

codex320 Your DS is the cutest!!!! And that dog - omg, I want a puppy right now! Even though he sounds like a handful, I still want to squish all that fluff! Glad you hear your DD has been able to stay in school and that you are all doing alight! Come stay a while! It’s slower here now, but still fun to chat every now and then 😊

So tapatalk sucks and I thought I posted this month? Anyhoo, school starts September 8 and they are still trying to get protocols in place, I think most school boards are waiting for Toronto to put theirs out and then copy them. I found out DD teacher that I didn’t like might be doing virtual this year so that may solve that problem. 2020 continues to suck, if you want to be sad read my post history. I’m trying to keep things positive but it’s hard these days. My mom is doing way better on her meds and finally got her MRI today so hopefully there’s no surprises there. codex320 That dog is adorable! I love all the plants. CoachTsWife I hope things go better, it’s hard for these kids to adjust to having us around all the time and then not.

codex320, your girl is beautiful and that dog is so stinkin' cute! I hope the pup starts to chill a little for you guys. I've been tempted to get a kitten and had I known I'd be working from home through 2020, I might have considered a dog. But we never pulled the trigger and it's probably for the best. We lost our 14 year old dog right before DS1 was born and it was heart wrenching and I still miss him, he was a really special dog. Drop off with DS2 was completely awful today. He was full on sobbing and clinging to me. It broke my heart. Yesterday we popped by the preschool that DS1 is starting next week and met his teacher. He's pretty excited, but I think when the time comes he's going to miss being at home a little bit. He's been lonesome for DS2 this week and it's been sweet to see them reunite each day. They talk VERY LOUDLY to each other all the way home from DS2's daycare.

A local farm has opened up for a quick “Sunflower Season” so we took the girls for a late afternoon trip. It was probably the most exciting thing they’ve done all month seeing as H and I have been spending way too much time trying to master teaching virtual and in person simultaneously.

CoachTsWife, drop offs like that are really the worst. Thankfully we haven't had one in a while but the last time we did I was messaging the teachers/director to make sure my baby was ok!! She was. danvers, Cute picture!! I love last minute trips! We went to a "local" moo-thru yesterday for lunch. LOL it was decidedly fun to have ice cream for lunch We have a sunflower field kind of close by. I think we need to go maybe this weekend after seeing this! August Blooms, the puppy is lucky she is cute and fluffy. That's all I can say. Good to hear your mom is doing better.

doodlemommy, August Blooms I totally thought about you all when I saw cherries in the store last week and they're from up north. doodlemommy,I am glad to hear treatment is going well for your MIL. August Blooms same with you too. I agree all choices pretty much suck. We started school last week and we all survived. Hiccups logging on and teachers are being trained simultaneously. It is good that their expectations are pretty much low for at least last week into this week and I suspect next week. This is new for everyone. I admit I am a little stressed when things go awry. 1 day last week, I took lil fella to the potty 9x!!! so DS was on his own and I panicked when I didn't hear the assignment in the am to be completed for the afternoon meeting and DS was trying to explain it to me in his 6 yr old way so I had to call another parent and ask them about it and by the time I got off the phone, DS was already working on it...Guess he knew what to do. I am trying to convince myself that the kids are still young and they will catch up. My schooling years were less than ideal and I think my sister and I and heaps of my friends did aight, the stories I have oh man....

CoachTsWife danvers, codex320 I cannot believe how they all look like little kids now and the cutest! Boo! Hubs and I just looked at each other the other day and our boys and we were like. How in the world did this happen. They are both totally talking to each other and lil fella looks like a little boy. codex320 I love your house jungle! My poor orchids are so neglected. I've been super busy sewing tons of mask from my friends back east due to some of their kids not able to virtual school because they need special eds classes so I haven't had the time to be on for a while but try to check in every so often. Hoping to complete them in a couple of weeks.

Hello!! It’s been hard to find the time to check in now that virtual learning has ramped up, along with work entering its busy season. But tonight is the night! Because we are all boarded up doing nothing but waiting to see what wind and rain we get from hurricane Laura, if anything. That is a giant storm.

curmudgeon So glad to hear the storm missed you. Gosh so many things going on. Hubs and I were talking tonight and we concluded every choice in 2020 just results in a syntax error. We barely survived 2nd week of school. I am in tears with DS practically everyday and we haven't even started actual learning yet. I feel like I am failing everyone and unable to give a decent amount of attention for anyone. Lil fella is so disruptive and gets into everything and DS is of course distracted by him. I am hoping when we get into actual learning, I can put headphones on him. Spring kinder was so much better that they were given assignments and recorded teachings if that makes any sense. We have to check - in 3-4x daily and between that DS need to work on assignments and eat lunch and we've only checked in 2x daily the last 2 weeks and it's already stressing me out. It seems like someone has a nosebleed, needs to potty 1 minute before login or in the middle of class meeting and DS will fidget so much he'll swipe out the app/end webex, accidentally knock the iPad and close it etc. Gah!!! I heard online for in-person is worse. Kids have to login for every class and they have little time to work on assignments. We're going to try putting DS in the office with hubs next week to work on his assignments between class meetings so he won't get so distracted and can get them done except I am worried hubs will be stressed try gin to work and will be interrupted if he's on a con call. We also have several sizable wild fires around us and there's ash on our patio furniture and the AQI is awful. Ugh. 2020 is like on fire. It's so bad in CA on top of their COVID situation. They've dispatched some FF over to CA to help out over there. danvers, how are you doing? You and your H are both teaching online to right?

danvers Love the oic of your girls and the sunflowers! ❤️ 💕 They are some sweet and just adorable. I’m glad you were able to do something fun like that! Good luck with teaching both virtual and in person - I can’t imagine the amount of juggling you are having to do. curmudgeon I’m glad the storm missed you guys! Hoping for virtual school to get a bit better, or at least for you to be able to hang in there until things improve, whenever that may be. duskymonkey Hugs - I would be feeling the same way in your situation, and just know that you are not failing. You all will find your rhythm, and other parents are going through the same thing. It’s okay to be overwhelmed, and try to take things one day at a time. Your DS sounds like he enjoys learning, and I bet once they get into a more set schedule, he will adjust. Hoping for the wildfires by you all to resolve too. I know what it’s like to deal with awful AQI - fingers crossed things improve soon. Yes - horrible to see the fires in CA too.

danvers I love the sunflower pictures!! We are set to start in person grade 1 for DD this week. We agreed to send her this week (1 day of staggered start at half class size) and for sure on Tuesday next week (first day of full class size) and then we will reassess depending on how she reports it’s working and how many kids are masking (it’s strongly encouraged but not technically mandatory for grade 1s). Next Thursday is virtual meet the teacher where we can see the class set up so after that we will make a choice. We can pull her at any time and do parent led schooling with work provided from her classroom teacher until the next quarter starts when we can stick with in person or move to fully virtual. Classroom sizes and teacher assignments are supposed to be released today or tomorrow too so it’s just a wait and see. We are hoping we will feel ok sending her because she would love to go but if it’s feeling too risky we will pull 😬🤷🏻♀️ I go back to work tomorrow and I am so much less concerned about that. We have so many safety protocols in place and i will have a mask and a face shield on while working with the kids (I’m an early intervention SLP) so I should be pretty darn safe

Teaching online and in person sucks. It is literally the job of two teachers for the price of one.
I very much think parents should have had a choice but..... live streaming, recording lessons, teaching in-person, planning lessons, making paper assignments, making digital assignments, and grading everything is a lot.
Also - we keep waiting to be shut down for full virtual learning so that’s a fun dark cloud over our heads while we teach. Our county has a 12% positivity rate and yet..... we aren’t shut down for reasons only known to the superintendent and health dept I guess 🤬
🔥 It’s a dumpster fire over here 🔥
