As a runner I sometimes roll the IT band itself. Carefully and not all the time, but sometimes it helps! The band is supposed to be tight. It's literally how it functions. You can't walk/stand if it is loose. Yes, but sometimes it just feels good to roll it. And it can get tense and rolling it out helps it to relax- for me, occasionally- and release the tugging on the knee. I’m trying to imagine a scenario where I roll it so much it goes slack and prevents me from standing or walking and I’m having a hard time...

Woof. Hi, all. Today has been a doozy at work. I have been on my feet for almost the entire time. I have gotten a decent number of steps, at least. I am debating between yoga and regular strength training today. Leaning toward strength.
Food is decent. I guess I should put stuff into MFP just to see what is happening there. I plan to make the rainbow peach and basil chopped salad yet again for dinner tonight, with apple cider dijon chicken, grains, and shaved parm. it's just to freaking good. And plus then I will have a couple lunches for the week.

I went to the PT today and got a WHOLE bunch of stretching homework that should help my shoulder and back pain. She said my left shoulder is especially tight and I am probably compensating when exercising which is causing repeated injuries. Makes sense to me. I'll go back weekly for awhile. She also used this tens machine thing on my left shoulder to help loosen up the muscle. Um that was interesting but super effective!
Thanks to this thread I ordered a foam roller. So far I have only used it on my back but I love it!
Today's workouts: 30 minute pop ride with Sam from today 10 minute arms with Cody from 7/28
Would recommend both!

Um. Why are you rolling the band itself? You are supposed to roll the muscles connecting to it. As a runner I sometimes roll the IT band itself. Carefully and not all the time, but sometimes it helps! I also directly roll the band (and the muscles around it). That's what my old PT had me doing and I've stuck with it.

I didn't put my watch on today, which is so rare for me. I didn't think I'd hit my step goal and just didn't feel like it since it still hasn't been pulling my workout steps from connect when I wear my other watch. We'll I have both watches side by side on the bathroom counter and both have the same step count on them all of the sudden. Looks like connect worked out that kink now, which makes me quite happy.

However, I definitely haven’t foam rolled or been serious about running in over a decade and this was big then. I am seeing that’s no longer recommended (directly on the band) and it makes sense. Science!

I squeezed in the 20 minute Common strength with Adrian and then 15 minutes of a 20 minute 2000s strength with Jess. Both full body. Super efficient- I’m sweaty!

Today was good. Yoga flow this morning and a quick 3 mile run this evening. Resting on the porch with wine.
This morning was pretty chilly so I didn’t swim, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit warmer.

We started :"The Gauntlet Week" according to Shaun T. Today was Insanity: Max Interval Plyo. Lots of moves I had to modify but I made it through.
Food was ok. Back to tracking. We're finishing off a growler of stout a friend gave us so that's not helping 😀

This is one of my favorite sides/salads/potlucks but I add corn and don’t add tomatoes. So good.

July was great. It was my 6th month straight of closing all of my Apple Watch rings! This morning I did a 2018 45min tabata ride by Robin and was barking at the end. My God those tabatas are no joke. No PR but I had to full stop at many points.

It is really hot here today, 88 at the peak which is really high for where I live. I did a 30 minute pop ride with Ally on my lunch break and damn I could not stop sweating even after a shower! I didn't PR but it felt like a good strong effort. It was my 75th ride, I have got to pay attention so I can organize a live ride for my 100th!

Happy Monday everyone! Today went pretty well. I did a 25 minute Nike Training strength and core workout and have all my food logged. I'm surprisingly close to hitting my macros considering I didn't plan it in advance. I should also hit my water goal.
B:Kodiak waffles, iced coffee L: bunless turkey burger, tomato and cucumber salad S: cottage cheese with peaches, protein water D: baked pork chops with apples and sweet potatoes
I'm planning an outdoor run tomorrow if my children cooperate with sleep and it's not raining. I love monsoon season here for the cooler temps but not so much the rain itself.

Checking in for the first time in August. I ran 2.5 miles earlier today, it started rough but I finished really strong, especially since it was mostly uphill. I am still functioning in maintenance for my macros and I'm holding steady within 1-2 lbs. We are camping this weekend and then heading to the beach in two weeks, so I think I'll keep with this for now until we're done with traveling and then buckle back down into weight loss mode.

My God my upper back is toast. Still managed to get my squat sets in tonight at the weight I planned (464), then walkouts up to 560. I didn't die.
Kind of wanted to die.

I was really unmotivated to finish my steps this evening but I did a 40 minute ab walking video with Jessica Smith and it went by quickly. I like how her walking workouts sneakily work on my balance and coordination which I need now that I’m an old lady. 😭

I’m still trying to convert myself into a morning workouter. However, I laid in bed and played on the internet for 30 minutes so only had time for a quick 30 minute fun run (I did Jess Sims’s Lizzo fun run from last year). I’m going to try to do some core later tonight.

I had to get in a shorter than usual workout this morning before an all day zoom conference (groan).
20min 2000s ride w/ Ally 10min low impact w/ Sam 10min foam rolling
I hope to use the lunch break during the conference for a Peloton walk on the treadmill.

I started the final week (of 6) for the Road to the 5K program. This week is a taper week and the plan will be to do the 3 runs scheduled this week, then a 5K (that will be my baseline for this year).
Today's workout was Robin's 20 min Rock Fun Run and it was fun, but challenging and I had negative splits, with the mile and change in the 12s, so I'm happy with that as while it's cooler of late, it was pretty muggy this morning. I also jogged all of the recoveries to push myself.
I did Jess' 5 min post-run stretch.

pearbear , an ALL-DAY zoom conference call??? Godspeed. Yep. My work usually hosts an event the first week of August and instead of just cancelling this year we are doing it via Zoom. A full 9 hours of presentations. I might die of boredom.

Oh my gosh, I need my family to leave me alone. My kids interrupted my 20 minute run four times and H called me to tell me MIL was on her way to "surprise" us. So the time I thought I'd have to squeeze in ten minutes of lifting proofed right away. I'm pretty annoyed, I felt amazing running today and wish I had gone longer, but oh well. MIL just left to take the girls to the library then for lunch, which works out because I have to do curriculum writing in like ten minutes anyway.
B- egg, provolone, turkey sausage homemade breakfast sandwich L- salmon Cesar salad D- 🤷🏻♀️ S- caaaaake! Griswold turns 9 today and my kids really want to throw him a party, so obviously we'll be having cake for the dog tonight.

4 mile run in the humidity this morning and then a full body lifting workout B: cheerios with raisins and milk S: one bar L: hardboiled eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes D: no idea. I was supposed to meet friends for dinner but that got rained out and none of us are ready to eat indoors yet.
