Ran for a second day in a row, which is extremely out of character for me. I needed a change in scenery so I drove to the nearby nature preserve and did 4 miles on a paved canyon trail and 1.5 miles on a dirt hiking trail. It was so shady and cool, and the scenery did wonders for my mood. Definitely going to need to make the effort again soon. This sounds really lovely! I’m looking forward to the day I can run outside again. If I’m ever kid-free and Mother Nature decides to chill it out with the Hell like heat! It’s pretty hot everywhere else here, but this canyon stays shaded until mid-morning so it’s about 10-15 degrees cooler than anywhere else nearby. In a normal year, I stick to my indoor air-conditioned YMCA until November but obviously I’m having to switch it up this summer!

I got in 25 minutes on the elliptical this morning. And I'm going out to pull weeds now which is practically another workout.
We moved the elliptical into our room this week so I'm hoping that will give me a push to use it more.

I'm heading to the beach and will spend the day using the kayak & SUP. It's technically my rest day, but it'll end up being mellow cross training because it just worked out that way.
I did a few foam rolling videos last night, and my hamstrings are thanking me for it today.

No official workout today- took the dog for a walk, did some light yardwork (cutting tree limbs when your shoulders and triceps are spent is super fun). I am going to do some stretching throughout the day (my triceps is feeling better than it has- I have a chiro appt this week and that will likely be the focus).
Have my numbers for my first couple workouts this week. Nothing too crazy but one could be a really big PR if it goes as planned.

I think I’m going to start coming in here. I need some motivation to keep to the better habits I’ve developed lately, as well as try to capitalize on the weight I lost while pregnant. I’m still decidedly plus size, but the surprise 30 lbs that disappeared from October to now and are still gone was an unexpected bonus.
I’ll read through what’s here to get a sense for how the posting goes and participate as DS2 allows in his needy age.

My kids asked to do yoga. Cosmic kids only holds them for so long so I decided to try out one of Peloton's family ones. DD1 especially is all in. She's asking to do more after being completely hooked in for the entire 20 minute one she did. I'll have to do one with her later.

I just took DD2 on a stroller walk for 2.6 miles. It is gorgeous here today and it was so nice. She read her book over and over (she has it memorized) and I listened to a podcast. It was great! Now I am pushing her on the swing in our yard for the next 1749056 minutes (she is obsessed).
Food should be good today. I have some of that lentil salad for lunch, and am making burrito bowls with ground turkey for dinner. I meal planned for the rest of the week and ordered the rest of the groceries we need (which isn’t actually much since Imperfect had a lot of what we needed).

I did a 45 minute ride with Kendall this morning, her pop ride from the last week or so that she did to celebrate her dad's birthday. I beat my previous PR by about 30 points, Kendall is SUCH a bitch. haha
Followed it up with 10 minute arms, 5 minute stretch, and 5 minute meditation. Now I'm vacuuming and puttering around for a couple of hours until we go to the park to fly drones and have a picnic this afternoon.

I slept weirdly last night so I’m dragging today. I’m half way to my step count between the grocery store and a dog walk. I’m going to finish the rest on the treadmill while watching tv or baseball. I need to do some stretching yoga too. My hips and calves are tight.

Ran 7.5 today while my family biked. It’s hot. I’ve showered and am camped out on the basement couch. We are going to watch a pre dinner movie then fix chicken Parmesan. Not my favorite but everyone else loves it.
Debating having wine.

I didn’t meet my July goals, but July was kind of unexpectedly crazy. For August I don’t think I’m going to set any goals except to run more days than not and eat healthy more often than not.
Today I did an old 30 minute peloton intervals run on the treadmill with Robin. It was great.

Did a 45 minute outdoor run with Becs and my DD biked along with me I with a speaker attached to her handlebars. She ran out of gas at around 30 minutes so we cut out early and I did Adrian’s 20 minute hills run on the treadmill. We grabbed burgers and are going to do a fire pit tonight.

I really need to go here again. The ongoing stress of Covid, working FT nights at the hospital, and staying home with 3 kids has not been a good combination. I just feel so disgusted with myself lately and I need to do something about it. I'm hoping the start of school for my oldetlst 2 brings some more routine to our days. Goals: Work out at least 3 days/week Stick to Macros Increase water intake Lose 5lbs

I started Mommastrong! And took a ~2 mile family walk. Tomorrow I'm going to look into the Peloton app. jaygee, the stretching gets me. I always skip it and then hate myself. Peloton has stretching. It's the only thing that's made me a consistent stretcher after being a runner for over 20 years. Come to the dark side, join the cult.

I don’t remember what my July goals if I even set any. August goals are to keep up with Madeline Moves strength and stick to my macros and get to that next decade. I think I say that every month, but this is it, I’m doing it.
I kicked the month off with 25 km of riding this morning, I wasn’t planning on it but I was feeling good. I stacked some rides with both of Hannah’s live ones this morning.

We did a nice family walk today and I did my ab rehab. I also got some sex in. I know that is not actually true exercise but I count it toward my mental health lol. It’s so nice to have my libido back after pregnancy and c section recovery. It’s huge for my energy and confidence.
Tomorrow starts back to work and lots more exercise. Yay!

I didn’t do yoga today. I’m tired, and sunburnt because I’m a dumbass. But I should have time to squeeze in a 30 minute workout of some kind tomorrow after work before picking the girls up.

Yesterday was athletic conditioning which was 50% burpees. Usually Sunday is my rest day but I got on my bike and rode for 20 minutes after work in the spirit of my August challenge. Macros weren’t that great this weekend but weren’t terrible, either. Tomorrow is speed and agility which is always interesting because I am not speedy or agile!

Day 2 of speed training. Ran around 2.5 miles; I think my pace was in the high 9's for awhile and i had to pull it back; my goal is 10:35 so I was pushing it. I tried circular breathing and it wasn't working. Oh well, I will keep trying it though. Plan on foam rolling tonight and adding in an upper body strength and stretch as well.
Starting to focus more on nutrition again. Concentrating on more protein and less carbs. Less alcohol means no wine tonight. B: coffee with protein shake, greek yogurt, broccoli and grapes L: cilantro lime chicken street tacos with a side salad S: nectarine D: sauteed shrimp tossed with garlic, peppers, spinach, lemon and orzo with a side salad.

Yesterday I powered through a pretty challenging 5.5 mile hike in the Whites. There was a river pool near the trailhead so I went for a cool dip when I finished and it felt like heaven. Today just stretching and rest.
B: acai bowl with toasted almonds, muesli, blueberries, collagen and whey. L: one bar, hard boiled egg, sliced cucumbers S: crackers and cheese D: sausage, green salad, farro pilaf

Started the week with cardio I didn't do last week. I am on day 58 I believe. I am not thrilled with the 3rd phase of the workout and wondering if I should just do phase 1 again because if I am modifying everything what is the point.
B: Scrambled eggs and apples L: Grilled chicken and roasted green beans and brussels D: either turkey meatballs and zucchini or taco skillet (turkey, tacos, black beans, zucchini) S: veggies and dip and some pineapple

I did 3.5 steady miles on the treadmill. Planning on swimming some laps at the pool later, too, if the boys cooperate.

i wanted to get up and run this morning but i snoozed my alarm and felt like i had the beginning of a cold. THANKFULLY i am feeling better already so assume it was just allergies.
anyway, instead of running i got in a good lifting session. i thought to myself "hey you can just run tomorrow instead" but ummm ... tropical storm is coming starting this evening and staying throuhg wednesday. so, might only get in two runs this week instead of 3. it's not a bad idea to focus more on lifting so between that and the stationary bike i should manage just fine. i might do a heavy leg day today since i won't run tomorrow. we'll see.

My knee has been bothering me again. I think I need to start wearing something when I work out. It is always the side of my right knee that I am assuming rubs.

I totally bounced from the July thread. I was out of commission with a tweaked back for a week, then at a cabin in the Smokies for a week. The roads were so steep around our cabin that we could hardly walk up them, let alone run. When we got home I did great for a week, then the kids left for camp. I should have had plenty of time to focus on eating well and exercising, but I ended up having a crazy busy week at work (14 hour days). I ended up eating out every night and not exercising at all. I finally concluded by bender yesterday and got up and ran this morning. I'm off to a good start so far.
