I agree with that's what I need. I'm regretting our small bedrooms now. When we bought the house, it was all "who needs big bedrooms?!? fit a bed in there and be done!" and then came covid-19... Send me pics of every room. I feel like we can fit something somewhere. I shall and you will regret this.

Peloton will definitely give you access to a great community for motivation and accountability if that’s what you’re looking for. I do think you’d get more community out of the bike than the tread. Mostly because the bike has been around longer and therefore more people have it. I also think there’s a larger percentage of app users with the tread than the bike. The bike could also serve as the cardio component of your own bootcamp type class at home if you add in some of their strength options.
Also consider any history you have with running when considering the tread. Are your prone to injury from overuse? The bike is a lot friendlier on the joints if you’re not used to running regularly. Just a thought.

Someone explain what the sensor on the bike pedal does. I googled but I don't get it. It tracks speed and distance based on rpm

Do you have one? I assume you have to find some strong rafters or studs to hook it to? I don't but my coach has been working on me to invest in it. The newer systems apparently are more portable and have anchor systems to use on a door or even looped around a tree branch or pole outside. I have one! I intended to mount it to the wall but found it worked well enough in the door frame that I haven’t needed to.

It tracks speed and distance based on rpm Thank you! It sounds like it's just for the straight spin bikes? My bike is not fancy at all, but it is digital and has distance, speed, and rpm. We don't have a spin bike, so someone else might be better served to talk it up. I have one for my racing bike for when I put it on the trainer. Once I'm done being a giant pregnant whale I plan to set up my trainer and do peloton rides that way. budders or donnameagle I think both use one for non peloton bikes, if my brain is being not terribly broken in recalling who has what bikes.

I’m strongly considering getting the peloton treadmill if it goes on sale for Black Friday but I wish I knew people IRL who actually have one. I know several people with the bike but none with the treadmill. If any of you have one, can you use it upstairs without shaking the whole house? Is the quality really there to justify the price or are you paying for the name? Sorry for the hijack!

If you are on FB you can check out different Peloton groups to get more feedback or even search the group for prior questions on the tread. There is a Peloton Tread Group for example. From what I read, the quality is definitely great and the price is justified. I looked at tons of reviews before deciding to purchase it because it’s a lot of $$.

jaygee, if your friend got the mirror I would love to know if she likes it and thinks it’s worth it. It really appeals to me.

Yes, I have a Sunny spin bike with a Wahoo cadence monitor. eta: I just read through the thread to see the original question about this. The monitor connects to the Peloton app to tell me my cadence right within the workout since my bike doesn't give me that information.

My friend didn’t get the mirror. Still obsessed with it but hasn’t gotten it yet. She loves her Peleton bike though.

Not to take this topic off topic, but I had peloton on my brain today. When I had a question for a coworker who definitely didn’t want to talk to me, I opened his door anyway (we both had masks on) and asked him. I could tell he was annoyed and I felt awkward, so I thought it would be a great idea to say “hey, you look great and like you’ve lost a lot of weight!” Luckily he was really flattered and told me all about how he is obsessed with his Peloton bike. So brux if weight loss is a goal, my male colleague who is 15 years older than me strongly recommends the peloton bike!

brux you just turned 40, this is a big deal. Get the most expensive piece of equipment your space allows for and your H will buy. Treat yo self. You won’t regret it.

I have no clue what I’ll do.
We have big space limitations which bums me out. A huge basement with 7 foot ceilings means only a rower can fit down there.
A tread or a mirror or tonal would have to be put in our main floor family room, which I don’t love from a monopolizing space standpoint.

I knew I shouldn’t have come into this thread!!!
I have a Peloton bike, a tread, and an assortment of smaller things (free weights, bands, bosu, etc.). I was ready to recommend a tread, but now I’m looking at that Hydrow and it looks awesome, so I vote for that. It seems like a) it’s an activity that you already know you enjoy, b) it’s interactive and can give you that “push,” and c) it will fit where you want it and it looks like it can also be stored up out of the way depending on your space and set up. I don’t even row and I’m wondering where I can fit one so I can start! Lol.
Otherwise, I’d do a treadmill. If a Peloton won’t fit, you could look into getting a Sole. They’re great quality, priced really well, and some of their models fold up when you’re not using them. As others have said, you can definitely use the Peloton app with whatever treadmill.
Either one of those- rower or tread- a simple set of weights, and a comfy spot for core work would be perfect.

Whether you get a tread, bike, or rower they’re pretty equally “versatile.” I think if anything a rower is going to be more of a total body workout than the other two.

When I told H I wanted to do the Peloton app for workouts he reminded me that our Nordic track has the same thing. It’s called iFit and you just have to pay for the subscription. So I guess I will start there.

Damnit I have an upright, which is not the "right" bike to use with the app (one person in the FB app group is very clear about that in particular). I'll still try it, but grr. brux, any closer to figuring out what you want? Mostly you should ignore the shit in the FB groups tho, honestly. 😂

If rowing is what you like, go with that.

So here’s what I’m thinking so far.
The Peloton tread is a no go from a space standpoint.
I’m going to dig for reasons why the Hydrow is a bad idea.
The Tonal looks perfect but we’d have to think creatively about install bc that too needs 7’10” ceilings to fully extend. That could be a main floor or second floor thing, but all the rooms have downsides.
A non-pelo tread plus the app might be good. But the same location problems I have with the pelo tread and Tonal.

New find!
It’s called Tempo. It seems similar to Tonal, but it uses actual weights instead of computer generated force. And it’s cheaper and needs less space.
I need to learn more about this one.
