Knowing that we are moving has me thinking about (and being excited about) the prospect of being able to go back to work. I never really wanted to here because there is nothing that sounded appealing, and MH's schedule is not conducive to 2 working parents without a nanny. And I couldn't make enough $ here to justify that expense. But there - so much new construction and my old company has branches everywhere, it would be really easy to hop right back into the workforce doing something I truly enjoy, and I have the management and sales experience already. And so many connections that could speed the process along.
I apologize for my incessant babbling about moving. I am so fucking excited about it and since it isn't public info yet, I can't just chat about it with everyone IRL. I want to shout it from the rooftops and like, sing or something. I'm not sure when I was this excited about something before - maybe never? As a kid, at Christmastime?

milano, what field are you in? Building materials - both new construction & existing renovations. Primarily commercial and multi-family, with a bit of healthcare too.

Our house appraised for $9k under sale price. It's a crazy sellers market so we know the builder won't want to renegotiate to the lower price. I'm not even sure how they did an appraisal when there's 0 cabinets or flooring in the house yet. We know it's worth what we offered, we've also added tons of upgrades that just aren't in yet. Hopefully we can get it reappraised once more work is completed to get our mortgage fully funded and not have to come up with the difference.

Welp. Our power just went out. I cleaned out a closet the other day in preparation for storing more dry goods in case Covid makes grocery shopping impossible again this fall. I happened upon a bag of 50 tea lights that I *almost* threw it. Thank goodness I was like “maybe we could use these in a power outage.” 48 hours later, and I’ve lit 6 of them plus a Christmas candle. 😂

It actually appraised for $110 below my offer price. It was largely because the appraisal can't take into account the food-production facility specific things that make the place so appealing to me. Like the floor drains. So I ended up having a seller finance a small portion, which is annoying, but doable.

I understand our mortgage company trying to look out for us, but we did a ton of research before building so we're comfortable with what we're paying and know our house is worth it. I just hate having to come up with extra cash that we didn't plan for.

The bankers keep being, "And you can just cover that, right?" "Uhhhh, what giant deep pockets do you think that I have???"

Thankfully BFF had power so we spent the evening there and it was back on when we got home. But I def need to go buy more candles!

Started the morning by slicing my finger with a big serrated knife. Went to urgent care— no glue or stitches, but I got a tetanus shot and she put me on antibiotics for a week. I was in and out pretty quickly, which was good since M’s school starts today. Also, typing with a bandage on my finger is a PITA.

Finger cuts always seem way worse than they are and are also the most inconvenient.

Can you literally die of pain? My neck hurts so effing bad. And now I’m getting a migraine. Have I mentioned that the movers will be here in 15.5 hours?

In the past few weeks both my kids have learned to eat pizza by the slice instead of cut up (they had been refusing), and J learned to take care of all toilet related events by himself and can now put himself to sleep at night without me laying in there.
My quality of life has increased greatly due to these new skills.

I grimaced earlier when getting up and when J asked me why I was making such a horrible face I replied with "oh I'm just screaming inside my heart, so I don't freak out you and your sister."
I'm going to the Chiro tomorrow. Mh told me they can prescribe muscle relaxers, which I did not know, so I'm much more excited to go than I was. Just fix me.

I'm about to walk into the chiro and I'm dreading it. If I walk in and get blasted in the face by an oil diffuser I'm going to lose my mind. I also see no signs on the door about masking or anything else which concerns me.
Obviously my past experiences with chiros are greatly coloring my attitude here.
