Hi! If anyone is willing to help a lurker new to homeschooling I’d appreciate it!! We are leaning towards homeschooling this year and the choices are overwhelming. My kids will be in K and 3rd. K child is crazy good at math (but has had no real instruction) but is not reading, should be average in other areas. 3rd grader is above average in reading, struggles with writing and probably just above average in other subjects. Because of their strengths and weaknesses I feel like an all in one isn’t ideal, so here’s what I’m thinking of (and would love feedback on): -teach history and science together modifying for the younger, looking at Book Shark Reading with History and Book Shark Science both in Level B -Math: Singapore Dimensions Levels 1 and 3 (so skipping little guy to first grade in math) -Lang Arts/Writing: for K Logic of English Foundations A, for 3 Brave Writer Arrow -Health/PE/Art/Music: just make it up and look up lessons as I go? They will be active every day but art and music maybe 1-2x per week?
Sorry for the long post....are these programs any good? Hopefully I have covered everything? Can I even do all of these in a day?? Also my state requires “US history” to be taught every year but the history program is world history, so is that a problem? If you got this far thank you!!

I think that sounds like a good plan! It’s similar to what we do.
Normally we do PE in a group setting, but that’s out this year so we’ll do yoga in the mornings and then we do our own spin on SQUILT for art and music.

unagi It’s stands for Super Quiet UnInterrupted Listening Time, and it’s a program you can buy. But we do our own by picking music to listen to and talking about it or coloring/drawing what they think the music sounds like.

I think that sounds like a good plan as well. You can always make adjustments as you find a need. One could argue world history is US history - since so many Americans came from other parts of the world - if it ever was questioned. You could always verify the history aspect with a local to you homeschool group. Ohh good call about the history situation. I will find someone local to check with. Thank you!
