I’m hoping that Cuomo does have in person schooling coming back. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a blanket state wide virtual start though. Shhhhhh, no. Some of us cannot be home alone with three high needs little ones. Keep your pessimism to yourself and let me dream until tomorrow when he shits all over us. DD1 is supposed to get her teacher assignment and schedule tomorrow too. I hope this doesn't ruin that excitement for her. I won’t sleep tonight. I hope he announces early in the day

I have a telehealth appointment tomorrow morning. The chest pain is the most frustrating part. Hope it's nothing and you feel better soon.

They announce a new group of kids that are suspended each day. I hope the kids chill out up there. They probably won't Our numbers have been so good too! The county executive said it was remarkable with regards to our numbers.

sheilathetank same issue here with wires all tangled in the trees. I think it will be a few more days before it’s fixed. The good news is that I broke every internet safety rule and bought a generator off Facebook last night. The people brought it down to us from Westport met me in the church parking lot I can walk to from my house, in the dark, then helped me roll it to my house. They were incredibly nice and didn’t murder or rob me but if my kids ever pull that shit I will kill them myself. I mean I googled them hard before I proceeded but still not smart.

On the school front I had become truly obsessed with what our school would choose in terms of in person / hybrid / virtual but now I’m a little more at peace about it. That is totally coming from the fact we decided we have no choice but to hire a nanny. It sucks financially and I have always preferred daycare for my kids when they are little (but that’s all I have known) but I couldn’t handle any more uncertainty around childcare. Of course anything can happen still, 2020 is a bitch and no plan is safe. Counting the minutes until she can start on 8/31.

My kids are slated to start daycare on September 1st for this school year. DD is starting the 2s class (she'll be 23 months) and DS is going into the Kindergarten class. My worry is DD has delays (just had her EI evals) and hasn't gotten assigned her Early Intervention therapists yet. I want to speak to the Director of the daycare, but I don't want to bombard her either, because they are still trying to manage their reopening. They are on their 3rd week open now. Should I tell them my concerns, or just send her, and hope for the best? FTR, I thought they'd kick DS out when he started the 2s class, but they didn't. So hopefully, she'll progress there like he did. I'm a nervous wreck. Sorry I am just catching up, I think it’s ok to mention it to them. They might be relieved to talk about something other than temperature checks and disinfecting. If they say they don’t have bandwidth to discuss it you can ask them to let you know when they are ready to revisit it.

I wish other schools would take notes from SU. If my 7 year old can follow directions related to health during a pandemic freaking college kids most certainly can.

We were offered a spot at our intended care center for DS and private K for DD. They’ve had a turnover with their director and K teacher. They also haven’t opened through any of this.
We are touring a new center tonight that offers private k. They want a full year commitment upon enrollment. They’ve also been open since they’ve been able to and continue to expand their hours. I have a lot of questions but I’m leaning towards this option.
Or just scrapping both options and figuring out a way to do public virtual and not working.

Thank you all for the good thoughts! Have a test scheduled through my primary for tomorrow. I wish it could be today but it's still not bad I guess. How long for results? I hope you're feeling ok!

There is at least one district in Bucks beginning with a hybrid model. For now at least. PinkFreud I'm sorry your district is being so wishy washy. My district has made a virtual decision but hasn't sent any info yet. New superintendent hasn't started yet. It feels a little like a shit show over here too

Checking in from NH. My small town school board just voted, and they decided to start off with full remote learning. I was hoping for a hybrid, but that didn’t happen. My job isn’t exactly friendly to all remote with a kindergartner, but I guess I’ll just have to figure it out. I am surprised because our cases were low. From all the people on the town page, I really thought it would be between hybrid and return back fully. Are you in Northeastern NH? Con Val is doing what colleges are doing full school to start, then long break with remote learning from thanksgiving to New year’s. Then full school till spring break finishing the year remotely. My school district (Monadnock) is starting in hybrid (2 days per week, 2 cohorts M/W or T/TH with Friday’s for access to teachers) until Nov 2nd. Then full after that if numbers are still low.

I am in Southern NH, in Hillsborough county. My town board had another board meeting last night, due to the amount of people concerned about the original vote. They re-voted for Hybrid, but most are saying that we may have to change to remote by Fall if positive COVID tests are on the rise. My DD is starting kindergarten, elementary will go either AM or PM 5 days in person. Middle school and high school will go two days in person and two days online I believe.

Is anyone else concerned about colleges opening for in person? We already know that young people suck at this so it feels crazy to put them all in the same place. It's not like they will only stay on campus and be in a bubble. I know some have plans to test every 2 days but how do they enforce that? It just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Yes, I definitely think it’s going to be a problem. For instance, our babysitter’s classes are mostly virtual but she’s also going to campus to live in a house with 20 other girls. It’s going to be a mess.

Our district is going with hybrid model. If anywhere can do it, it’s here. But they have not been giving out much info. Still don’t know which days my kids are going to school.

Yes, see one of my prior posts. I live near SU and a few other colleges and I’m worried about our numbers spiking after the kids are back.

I do not think 18 year olds will observe a hard 14 day quarantine when they get to campus. Maybe they will. But I think enough won't.
