I’m in DC, and while it’s not perfect, I’ve only seen one person actively flouting mask rules, and it was a man clearly experiencing mental health issues.

Nevermind I have no idea how lol honestly, you might do just as well to keep it as is. Maryland tends to get lumped in with NE sometimes anyway, and DC and Northern VA are kind of their own little worlds. The rest of VA is....different.

WNY here!
+1 to we’d be a red state if not for NYC. I will say though, for all of the Personal Liberties/Conspiracy people around here I can count unmasked people at grocery/hardware/auto stores (because those are the only places I’ve been) on one hand and have fingers left over. So that’s pretty encouraging to see.
I am kinda nervous about our daily positive percentage creeping back up though. We got down to 1.2% and are now seeing small increases to 1.6-1.7%. Which I know is to be expected as things open back up and we absolutely have the hospital space for it at the moment. But I’m still silently willing us to keep it together!

I'm from RI and I know a lot of people have Gina, but she's really kicked ass. And one fb dude on the NY/CT border I saw said "look, I'm a republican small business owner, 99% of the time I hate Cuomo. But he's right and Trump is wrong, fucking get in line!" So that gave me some hope. I can't with the Emperor Cuomo. It's an immediate signal to avoid someone Oh yes we have that here only it’s “dictator Wolf”

Hi! I’m basically in the middle of central New York. Small-ish city.
The lapse in special ed services have been a big concernto me. We are looking at 6+ months without in person services for DS1 when his speech issue is typically only treated successfully with intensive in person speech therapy. That’s 6+ months assuming he will be able to receive services come fall...
For the most part people seem to be wearing masks and following guidelines 🤞🏻

Currently in Northern NJ but moving to upstate NY in a few weeks. Everyone wears masks here inside and in close areas. We haven’t really ventured out too much but the kids did great at our zoo with masks on the whole time too. From what I’ve seen in our new town, it’s pretty similar. A little more relaxed but most places, everyone is wearing masks. Spending the next few weeks at my parents in PA though and not sure what to expect. A high school BFF said that she’s been going to her gym which surprised me since gyms aren’t opened at any capacity here yet.

I am also an upstater in CNY (Central NY). I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of people wearing masks properly. Yes, we have the mandate but you’d think with all the whining and complaining from several in my area that no one is wearing masks, but they are.
I am more concerned about the return to school in the fall. I’m hoping there is at least some hybrid of in person and distance learning. I think unfortunately, Cuomo is going to aim for virtual learning 100%.

South Jersey here. Our RT is back up over 1 again so I'm a bit nervous. Our state is just so congested so I feel like things could get out of control quicker here than elsewhere. I don't see a lot of people flagrantly disobeying guidelines where I live, but I do think people are getting a little more lax. (Our area of the state never got hit as hard as North Jersey.) I see folks having small outdoor gathering with family/friends and probably not social distancing as well as they should be, and like fancynewbeesly I worry about all the shore travelers. I really hope we don't screw this up.

Checking in from MA. The greater Lowell area. I’m encouraged by our numbers and am overall pleased with how Charlie Baker has been handling this. I did go visit my sister, her kids and my mom in northern NY last week. They live in the middle of nowhere and it is easy to stay from everyone.

Also, HEY!
Checking in from SE PA. Still doing fine in our county and... no one is coming here for vacation but people are going elsewhere and coming back. So we will see.

CT here as well and also expecting a spike by cold/flu season, if not sooner. I trust our governor to shut things back down if necessary, which is comforting.
Still I've shared my concerns on the COVID thread in politics about people being overly lax in crowded parks. Little league coaches should not be in kids' faces unmasked, even outdoors. It's unnecessarily risky and makes me wonder what other risks they are taking. Basically I was far happier just never leaving my house.

Do y’all have a quarantine mandate? Asking because aforementioned aunts are heading your way tomorrow, and I have no qualms on reporting them for being out in the general public. Yes, I am that desperate

I'm in NYC.
Good news: My kid is in summer camp, and it's so good for him, and I can actually do my job again. I'm so happy about it.
Bad news: The proposal for schools reopening is giving me the fear. I think I'm hoping for 2 days/week at this point, if schools are even open. It might be 1 day/week with an extra second day every three weeks. Childcare is going to be a clusterfuck.

Hi from the middle of NJ here.
I, too haven’t seen too many non mask wearers. A lot of complaining on social media and what not but most are falling in line
I am concerned that a lot of people seem to be acting as if it’s over now. I’m seeing tons of parties and gatherings of dozens of people on top of each other with no masks.
But we started the kids back at activities and I’ve been thoroughly impressed with how they coaches/providers have been and how clean everything is
I got a pedicure yesterday for the first time and I was so nervous leading up to it and it was so great. Plastic barriers between the stations, and I watched them clean everything between customers.

VT. State is doing great but worried about all the tourists. We still have lots of restrictions so that helps and if not I can always tell people about that sewage in the lake.

Hello from WNY!
We're just sitting up here waiting to hear about school and hoping numbers stay down. I live in a small college town and people here are generally good about following guidelines and being respectful of each other. I'm nervous for what things will look like when/if students come back in August. I also work for a University and get regular updates on their back to school planning and they sound like a clusterfuck of testing, hoping students will follow social distancing protocols and praying.
We also had the fun game this week of Covid vs Cold with my DS and luckily it was just a cold that he gave to everyone in my house. It was a sneak peek at what going back to school might look like as he's had to be out of daycare for 72 hours post fever.

Angling for New Best Friend while brux is quarantined in the Midwest. FUCK YOU I CANT HELP THAT PEOPLE ARE MEAN TO ME AND MY MASK WEARING FAMILY I was going to try to sneak in this thread as Ohio is basically east coast but I am going to admit defeat and succumb to the Midwest. We can be BFF’s in masks and throw glitter (from an acceptable social distance) at the dickheads who feel oppressed by a mask.

My one twin is getting PT via telehealth for torticollis. He doesn't have a choice about participating so that's no big deal

No capacity limits, no mask mandate, they had random palettes in the already very narrow aisles making social distancing completely impossible. Nope.

We’re going to be on the cape next week (we are in MA) and our plan is not to leave the property! We’ve rented a house on a lake and kayaks so we can fish, kayak and whatever right there. I’m saving the ocean for next summer. . DNW to be around a bunch of tourists this summer. We might bike in one of the trails if it’s not too crowded.

Are playgrounds open there? I've read inconsistent things. Obviously I assume restrictions and we'd be masked no matter where we go. We are going to our yearly beach house next week and it just so happens that good friends, also from CT, are going as well but about an hour inland. I was hoping to find a playground or park halfway to meet up, but it's hard to tell what is and isn't open.
