I think we are done nursing - it's been several days (5ish?). We had been down to early mornings only, and a few minute only, but he's my last baby, so I'm feeling a bit sad about it.

Happy July! We had a nice holiday weekend at home. It was in the 90s so the kids spent hours in their kiddie pool both Friday and Saturday. The 3 yo decided it was too hot to even play in the shade Saturday morning. He wasn’t wrong.
We’re keeping the kids home from daycare after our provider was potentially exposed to COVID. Her son and DIL are experiencing sore throats and fevers today and they were all at a family gathering this weekend. Of course they can’t get tested until Thursday because why would testing be more accessible? We’d like test results before sending the kids back.
And my husband just reminded me her DIL and her kids were also at the daycare last Thursday (DIL helps out a couple days a week) so that was another chance of exposure directly to our kids. Yay.

ohreally, it's so frustrating that testing is such a challenge - I've heard that from others, nationwide. Quick testing would make such a difference!

Z's birthday is Friday. My baby! They are going to a splash pad at daycare and I will bring in cupcakes so he will have a fun day. I'm hoping a BIL/SIL and DH's aunt and uncle can come over for cake and ice cream on Saturday, but we'll see.
Other than that, it's the same old same old here. My manager is leaning towards taking me off of covid response and putting me back in clinics full time, which can't come soon enough. I've had enough covid. I talked to a lady the other day who had one parent die and the other parent was in the hospital. She was terrified she was going to have to bury both of her parents. She cried and then I cried. I just can't anymore.

PennyCandy Wow. How emotionally draining. I hope you get a break from covid response soon, too.

So sorry PennyCandy this is all so hard My oldest’s birthday was Sunday. We did a little at home party for her and then we surprised her with cake and decorations at daycare yesterday. I found out a bar hopping coworker tested positive for Covid. I’m so glad we are all still working from home. She is young and dumb and was out as soon as Arizona let it happen so I’m not surprised based off of her social media posts. I just hope she didn’t share it with anyone that will get very ill from it.

What a milestone! These babies are growing too fast! I know! I made it to just shy of 23 months with each kid, and I'm pretty happy about that! And really, a kid who eats ribs and steak and whole ears of corn will be 100% ok without it. I only wish that I could go somewhere with H now that neither is physically dependent on me for the first time in years!

This is why I don't want to go back to work in the office - my closest (both physically and in terms of work we do) coworker is SUPER social, and has traveled to see friends, has a girlfriend (live in) that travels (in state, but still) for work regularly, etc. I do not want to be in contact with their bad choices. At least our bars are closed again....

It's been a hard week for work. I've yelled at and cussed at and now my agency has received threats over a mandated mask ordnance. I feel so hopeless and defeated.

I haven't been sleeping well. I am anxious to hear about our districts plan for reopening. DD1 has already said that she does not want to wear a mask all day. Can't blame her for that.

When will your boss decide whether to move you I don’t know. I’m not scheduled for anything next week so I need to touch base with her today. Yesterday was a better day, but one of the counties decided they wanted to leave the department and establish their own public health department over the mask mandate. Good luck building a health department from the ground up during a pandemic when there are already not enough resources in the state. They screwed a lot people over including their own residents. One of our offices is still closed today due to the threats as well. I never imagined all of the politics involved in public health. We’re usually pretty behind the scenes. Most people don’t even know we exist or what we do.

I'm a public health nurse mostly in immunizations, but also outbreak response and I'm on the disease investigation field team. When the pandemic started, I was moved to covid response (case investigations and contact tracing) full time. I did just find out that I am off covid response.

We got some of the plans from the school my oldest will have. It’s online until the state allows reopening. But, there are big districts starting to say they are online only until October so I think my school will do the same. So my daycare is asking interest to see if any of the school aged kids would want to do their online school at the daycare. The daycare teachers will help keep the kids on task and help do their work. I said yes please, especially since this seems like it’s going to be long term. I don’t know why, but I just can’t get over how crazy our world is right now.
