Thanks guys! Baby measured well and everything was in the right place. The only thing of note is that we have a marginal cord insertion which means the cord is attached closer to the edge/side of the placenta vs the middle where they’d like to see it.
The tech told me that makes me high risk and I’d need growth scan ultrasounds every 4 weeks to make sure baby is still growing and to make sure that baby is safer inside than out. This appt was at my old practice since the birth center doesn’t do diagnostic scans. While I was waiting to see the midwife, I texted my birth center midwife who said this alone doesn’t make me high risk and doesn’t risk me out of a center birth either. The midwife we met with today also said the same thing and that they typically would do a 3rd tri scan and if everything measured appropriately, they wouldn’t do anything else extra. So not nearly as intense as the tech made it seem. She said very rarely do they see this cause growth or other issues for the baby so she’s not concerned. That was a relief! I will chat with the BC midwives in two weeks after they’ve reviewed the scan information.

sorry about the marginal cord insertion Fearsy but that’s good you can still go ahead with the birth center plans.

how’s everyone doing this week? any appointments?
i’m making progress on baby’s room. we finally have someone lined up to come and paint bedrooms so that is exciting. i’ve also got a rug and we’re using dd1’s old furniture this time around. i feel shockingly on top of things. i also unexpectedly got two huge bags of boy clothes from my cousin last week and have gone through those. i feel kind of wasteful though because i could probably not buy anything now clothes-wise but i just want to have a few new things for him.

polson I’ve gotten so many hand me downs but I did buy 3 new things. His room is... coming along. I was making a good clip there and then got busy. DD started messing around in there and now it’s just a wreck and stresses me out. I told DH I need him to come in and help me navigate because I’m getting overwhelmed with where to start.

Our guest room transformation has begun. We've painted, replaced the floors, and added crown moulding/baseboards. We have the crib but nothing else. I'm tempted to get a dresser now so I can wash and organize her clothes, but it might be a tad early for that 🤣. It's so fun to sort through the baby clothes, though!
Anyone decide on a stroller yet? I had 3 for DS (travel system, jogging, and umbrella). I think we're going to go with jogging only this time around.

I super overdid it last weekend. We went through the entire nursery closet and took inventory of what we have, what we need, etc. We also reorganized it and we were able to fit most of the new (secondhand) things I’ve bought over the weeks like play mats, swing, bouncer.
I also pulled out my pregnancy pillow and now my body is like 🙌🏻

i’ve never had a pregnancy pillow. do i need one? i had bad hip pain with my last one for a few weeks and i’m guess that would have helped. right now my feet are really bothering me but i’m sure that will change.
we have a jogger, an umbrella, and kind of a step up from an umbrella. don’t really plan on anything else at this point. planning on wearing this one as much as i can to begin with. our old car seat is expiring so that is one thing we’ll need to get. im hoping there will be a trade-in/recycling somewhere, but i’m not holding my breath with covid.

I never had one either. I used a body pillow with DD but now it is her blockade to prevent her from rolling out of bed so I’ve been making it work with an old toddler pillow LOL
We may get a double of our single stroller (city mini GT) but I haven’t decided yet. DD still doesn’t love walking on her own (and used to bolt in stores if not secured in some way) so it may be a good investment.

I had an appointment last week, which was honestly pretty dumb and useless other than getting blood drawn for AFP. I also just found out I tested non-reactive to chicken pox even though I got the vaccine and booster 4 years ago.
I've done nothing to prepare for the baby but we also haven't been home in 4 months. I need to work on getting the 3YO's room ready for a toddler bed and the freedom that comes with it but we're planning on just having the baby in our room for a while to begin with.
I think all I need/want for the baby is a portable bassinet to replace the RnP and maybe a new umbrella stroller because I don't love the one I have. And hopefully the 3YO will just walk.

The pregnancy pillow is life right now so maybe I’m biased but yes. 3 pregnancies and it’s been the best every time.

i have my 24 week appt next week which i know will be a total waste of time, but i also opted to go in to the office vs virtual appointment. that’s probably flammable, but it gives me an hour and a half to myself and i don’t feel as if it’s a huge risk at this point. and i just don’t like the idea of not being seen by anyone for 8 weeks.

Zero percent flammable by me. I would not be okay going 8w without hearing a heartbeat.

I've had a pregnancy pillow in my Amazon shopping cart for a week but have been reluctant to get it. This thread convinced me to go for it!
My in person appointments have been 8 weeks apart. I ended up purchasing a fetal heart monitor to ease my nerves. I have an anterior placenta and rarely feel movement, so checking the heartbeat whenever I want has been so reassuring.

My appointments have been spaced out at every 6 weeks but they have all been in person. My last one felt like such a waste of time, although it was nice to hear the heartbeat. I'm debating about skipping my next one since I will have my anatomy scan between now and then and I inexplicably have another appointment 2 weeks after that.

I had my 24 week visit this morning and all was well. I keep mentally panicking about my weight (I’ve gained 12 pounds total as of this morning) but my OB said zilch about it, so that was nice. Sounds like we can officially schedule the RCS next visit!
I had a really weird moment afterwards though. I took DD with me to run an errand in a small store and we weren’t there super long, but I got super overheated out of nowhere and thought I was going to pass out. I was literally dripping sweat and my mask felt so restrictive. I had to leave and go to the car to blast the AC in my face. I grabbed a drink and food and felt better after cooling down but that was a scary moment for sure

both my girls woke up with runny noses and lots of sneezing but no fevers. i really hope it’s just a summer cold. i hate how paranoid any little thing makes me.
in other news i finally finished knitting my blanket and i feel like doing more so i ordered more yarn for curbside pickup today to start one for my sil’s baby. it’s so muggy and overcast today so we are just taking it easy with lots of rest and couch/screen time.
