I can’t believe it’s July and depending on the website I look at, I’m either officially 6 months this weekend or next weekend 🤷🏻♀️
Little man now kicks hard enough for me to see my belly move- DH finally felt a kick last night too. DD wants to name him Raccoon 😂

The teenage boy eating phase lasted for a couple weeks and then ended for me...at least I hope it's over! I was getting so annoyed with the never-ending hunger.
Anyone else not feel movement yet? I really expected it by now (19 weeks).

I really expected it by now (19 weeks). I’ve been feeling movement for quite some time now (will be 19w on Tuesday). But with my 2 other pregnancies, I didn’t feel movement until 19w and 21w because the placentas were anterior.

Yay marigold! My placenta is posterior this time and it’s insane how much of a difference it makes. So. Much. Movement. I’m feeling a little paranoid about my weight. I gained 26 pounds with DD (and lost 65 after) and I’m only up 8 so far from my starting weight. My OB hasn’t said anything about it but I am feeling worried for some reason.

i was totally expecting to have an anterior placenta because i wasn’t feeling super consistent movement. nope i also have posterior so shows how much i know. but he’s starting to get crazy and i’m seeing stuff on the outside now. can’t wait for the girls to feel him. they are so excited for a baby brother. katespade with my last two pregnancies i gained about 20 lbs each, maybe slightly less. i actually gained a few more with my 5lb baby than with my 7lb one. bodies are strange. if your dr wasn’t worried and baby is growing fine they are getting what they need. it’s so hard not to overthink it though. i’m a few pounds ahead of where i was with my last two and i don’t feel as though i’ve been overindulging overall.

polson I’ve had more ice cream in the past few weeks than I think I’ve had in the past few years 😂. It’s not even a craving so much as it settles my still cranky stomach and cools me off. I am so gross and sweaty all the time! We’re monitoring his growth because DD had IUGR- at my anatomy scan, his noggin measured slightly small but he’s got long legs and arms. I’ve got another scan at my 28w appointment in August and I think I have one once a month going forward.

I am wondering if my placenta is anterior. With DS, I felt him much earlier, and it was nonstop. It's still sporadic this time around. My anatomy scan is Monday, so I'll find out soon enough! katespade, I was eating ice cream every afternoon until recently. Same as you- it wasn't even a craving, but it was the only thing that eased my stomach and stopped the never-ending hunger. I would't worry about your weight gain, either! I'm only up a few pounds so far this time.

No, you’re fine! My OB with DD was VERY on top of my weight. I was slightly overweight to begin with but it was a lot of “you need to watch your weight” and “the more you gain, the more you have to lose!” and so I think I’m just paranoid from that!

Is anyone thinking about pain management options during labor yet? Just thinking about an epidural is giving me anxiety.

piratecat the most i’ve done for my other two is hats. i always have the best intentions but it never happens. i’ve done baby blankets and baby cardigans for friends and family. also i’m just a really slow knitter. i’ve been knitting sporadically for 10+ years and dream of sweaters etc for myself but i’m just so darn slow. i like quick, instant gratification projects. marigold did you have a bad experience with your first? admittedly i am team give me all the drugs. i have had two uncomplicated inductions and am actually terrified of going into labor naturally (i mean i would like to go into labor myself) and not having time for an epidural. when my nurse was taking the epidural out with my second it was already mostly out which explains why i felt it wasn’t as effective as my first. i have had friends who ended up with spinal headaches after theirs which also terrifies me. i am 22 weeks this week and am definitely feeling it. i did all my regular cleaning yesterday and my whole body hurt by the evening. i feel like this is too soon.

polson I overdid it about a week and a half ago and was so exhausted/sore I was hobbling like an old lady! I had an epidural with DD that didn’t take on the right side (which made my emergency csection a fun treat) so I’m hoping this time around will go smoother in every way. I’m not sure if I schedule our RCS next week when I go in or in August- they told me “sometime in the summer” at the beginning of the pregnancy.

polson, I’m definitely feeling it way earlier this time than I did before. It makes me feel better to see others are too. I’m just tired and sore a lot. marigold, Is laboring in water an option? Both of my births were med free and I’m certain I wouldn’t have made it through the first without being able to labor in the tub. She was breech so I had to get out to deliver but the water really helped me relax a lot. I planned a water birth for the second but she came too fast and I really wished I had time for the tub. This time I have all the things crossed for it.

polson, no bad experience with my first. I intended to go med free but ended up asking for an epidural at the very last minute. Because of my med-free intent, I didn't spend a second of my pregnancy freaking out about the epi...which I'm now doing. Since nearly the entire labor process was med-free, I'm considering that route this time. I'm so awful with needles. I was hoping for nitrous oxide, but my hospital stopped administering it due to COVID. Fearsy, a tub is something I've never considered! I'm going to see if that's an option. Are you still team green, or are you going to find out tomorrow? I just had my anatomy scan. Things have really changed since I had DS; I was so fascinated by the detailed measurements they took this time.

marigold, If you’re hoping to go med free this time, I’d recommend looking into Hypnobirthing. You can read the book, listen to the CD, and take the class if you’re really into it. That’s what I used to prepare before my first and it was a really valuable resource. The water being an option was also really great. Some hospitals don’t have tubs so you could utilize a shower? But ours had blow up tubs that they would set up for laboring and patients who wanted to birth there. Definitely something to look into! We’re still technically team green but I don’t know! I really want to find out and just be able to prepare some things now and wrap my mind around it all. I’m worried that I’ll have gender disappointment (or that MH will) if we wait and now I’m thinking maybe we should just find out so we can work through our feelings beforehand. We’ve thought about finding out and just not sharing with anyone so it’s still a surprise for family. It’s tough because I don’t know what the right thing is. 😫

Fearsy i feel a lot better hearing you talk about gender disappointment. it caught me pretty off guard. i feel so guilty right now about our feelings. basically i feel like a horrible mother. we are of course over the moon about a healthy baby, but i’m grateful we have the time to get used to what our family will look like. i guess having 2 of the same just kind of got me thinking we would have another and then i just had all these crazy expectations. i know that i will feel so silly for feeling this way once he’s here and my oldest is especially excited for a brother so that is helping. not trying to sway you at all, just saying i totally get it.

polson, I have never experienced it but have heard many people who have. I can imagine it’s hard. It wasn’t until my SIL announced that they found out early that she’s having a girl that I really recognized that I was feeling like I leaned one way more than the other. After more thought about it, I talked to MH who admitted he was feeling the same way. I sort of always knew that but he hadn’t said it yet. Anyway, I know I’ll love the baby that we get but I do worry that I’ll feel some type of way and then PP hormones will send me over the edge and I’ll have so much guilt about not finding out sooner and working through it. Ugh.

I definitely had some gender disappointment. I was really hoping for two girls and it took me a bit to wrap my head around having a boy. I’m excited for him now but I’m sad that I had to say goodbye to so much of DDs adorable little clothes and that she won’t experience having a little sister.
She keeps saying “next time I’ll have a sister” and I’m like NOPE

Fearsy, I actually did hynobirthing last time and loved it! I ended up panicking about pushing at the very end and requested a very last minute epi. Maybe hynobirthing combined with a tub will do the trick this time. It's perfectly natural to feel initial disappointment about the sex! I kept saying I'd be happy as long as the baby is healthy, but I'll admit to being elated when we found out it was girl. I remember initial disappointment when I found out DS was a boy (still feel a little guilty over that). But when you're holding your baby, those emotions go out the window. If you think you might feel disappointed, maybe it would be better to find out now?

We thought we would be OAD for a long time so 2 is good for us. I think I’ll have my other tube removed if I do end up with the RCS (I keep having this feeling that he’s going to want to come on his own, and my OBs are comfortable with me going ahead with a VBAC if I actually go into labor on my own).
