Yeah I’m not worried about how much he’s getting since I know that. He also woke himself up last night at 2:30am so it might have just been a fluke! I did the weigh myself, then weigh myself holding him thing and according to that super “accurate” way he’s 8.6 lbs. He was 6 and 12oz at birth so that doesn’t seem right but I’m guessing he’s closer to 8 lbs? Anyway I think I will probably offer at least a dream feed until we get cleared then I won’t feel so conflicted. Haha I forgot to say I don’t know how accurate that method is but it seems like it should work😂That seems a little high for being 3 weeks. DS was only back to birth weight by 2 weeks but each baby is different I guess! The dream feed plan sounds good especially if it will ease your mind. Edit: I weighed myself then with DS and according to that he should be 10lbs lol so we’ll see at his checkup on Tuesday how accurate it is.

I have been trying to go to bed since like 11pm. It is currently 1:45am. I nurse the baby, hold her for a while after to make sure she’s asleep. Finally go lay her down, then I lay down...2 seconds later she’s rooting around and then crying to eat. I don’t know what the deal is but I decided to try gas drops to see if that’ll help her sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day if I can’t get some sleep soon.

trtlcrzy G nurses like 4 times before he actually goes asleep for the night lately. It's a long hour-two (but we start earlier, around 8) but then I usually get a 5 hour sleep from him.

trtlcrzy I had a night when baby was a little over two weeks old when I started at 11 pm and didn’t get him down for a good stretch until almost 4 am. I have no idea what caused it, but he was fine the next night.

E will be three weeks on Monday and she is just now sleeping for some stretches at night the last two nights. Before that she was waking nearly every other hour or so and wanting to stay nursing for forever!

I finally got her to sleep around 2:30 or 3 by snuggling her in my bed and singing to her. Dh had her this morning for a couple hours so I could get a little more sleep.

She is so sweet trtlcrzy! I love how even the blanket coordinates Ben had a good holiday. The onesie works a couple ways since he’s also the 4th child.

H went back to work today so no more sleeping in for me. I legit got 2, 2 hour stretches of sleep. I really hope this baby figures it out soon because this is not sustainable 😩

Ahh lucylou!! Can you nap today? I forget how old your other kids are. I hope you are able to get some rest (or a ton of coffee) today and that things go smoothly without your h there to help. If it makes you feel better E is super fussy and never slept longer than an hour or two so it’s been rough but last night he finally slept a 4.5 hour chunk so there is hope for you!! Doesn’t help feeling like a zombie today though 😢

The younger one still takes a good afternoon nap so if the baby’s sleep lines up with it, I’ll definitely be able to get one in. I told my H, like, I don’t mind waking up every 2 hours to feed, I just need him to go back to sleep after he’s fed!! He falls asleep fine but then wakes up 5-10 minutes later. I started trying to put him down at 8:53 last night and it didn’t actually “take” until 11:40 (I’ve got an app tracking it). Blah. I ordered 2 different swaddles in the motn so hopefully one of them will make a difference lol. Thanks for letting me vent. I’m sure I’m not the only one going through it! My other 2 were just such bad sleepers for so long that I think it scarred me for life and now I’m getting glimpses of going down the same path again and I’m panicking haha

When he wakes it’s usually at least a half an hour of playing, cooing, grunting etc and it’s like umm no go to sleep!! Lol for ordering stuff in the middle of the night I definitely do that too. Which swaddles did you order? We use the halo Velcro ones to literally lock down his arms which helps him from waking himself up. Hope one of them work! And hope the nap schedules line up so you get some rest 🤞

She sleeps like a champ during the day so I’m trying to get her to be awake a little more today so she hopefully sleeps more at night.

I got the Love to Dream so we can try arms up and the Ollie which doesn’t look much different than the Halo, to me, but has amazing reviews so we’ll see!

I’d been able to sleep until 9-10 with H home but my bigger kids are the earliest of risers (6/6:30) so no more of that 😕

We used the zippadaeezip when DS1 was older and it doesn’t restrict arms but is weird pointed tips for sleeves. But it might be better for babies when they are older not so much right now. And also my friends had great success with that marlin sleep suit that makes them look like a puffy marshmallow but again not sure the age range. I’m curious about those two you ordered though! Arms up might be the key to longer sleep. You’ll have to report back once you’ve tried them.

trtlcrzy good luck to you too with Dh going back to work! Are your girls pretty helpful with the new baby? I’m super lucky as my dh is still working at home so when DS1 wakes at 6, he’ll take him and feed him breakfast and keep him occupied so I can sleep a little longer. It doesn’t stop DS from barging into our room and opening all the blinds and turning on the lights though haha 😳 we are working on the that and can usually fall back asleep for another hour or so which is better than not.

lucylou still at 7 weeks my baby doesn’t want to go to bed for the night until 10 or 11 pm. Every few days I try earlier and he wakes up again pretty quick. But he’s now doing longer stretches so if I get him down at say 10:30 pm and he sleeps till sometime between 4 and 5 am, he will then go back down for another hour or two, so I’m generally able to get close to 7 hours of sleep and be up by 7:30 am. So it’s working ok for is besides the fact that I can’t get anything done in the evenings because he only wants to eat and nap on me. But he was similar to your baby when he was that age - hopefully it improves quickly. I’m also lucky that my DH is working from home too and can help with any very early stuff with the older kids. Pre pandemic he left for work everyday by 5:30 am.

lucylou we have the Ollie swaddles and love them. Both of my babies are Houdini’s in the halo swaddles but for some reason Ollie works much better. They still escape occasionally but not much.

Just wanted to update that D did so great with the love to dream swaddle last night!! Got the evening started at 9 with a 4 hour stretch and then had 2 hour stretches for the rest of the night. Minimal crying and awake time in between which is what I was most concerned about. I’m interested to see how tonight goes and make sure it wasn’t just a fluke.
