Weeks- 1 week old tomorrow
The Good - I’m feeling much less sore in general, V is eating and sleeping well which means I’m sleeping ok. V is taking a paci!
The Bad - my stitch pulls sometimes and that really hurts. V is still yellow but her doctor said she should be ok at her appt last week.
Milestones/Appointments - both of us have appts next week wed. Pedi also suggested a weight check later this week.
To Do List - newborn pics tomorrow! V’s belly button stump fell off yesterday so we will be doing her first real bath this afternoon.

Weeks- 5 weeks tomorrow! The Good - I think we finally got into some type of sleep routine (maybe). 3 hour stretches so that’s good enough to feel semi human in the day. Also got DS1 into day camp two days a week and I’m probably more excited than he is lol. We have basically no cases here and everything has been allowed to open so I went to my wax lady this weekend (with a mask) and it feels so good to have that done!! The Bad - E is way more needy then I remember R being. I honestly can’t put him down or else he cries (sometimes I get lucky and get 10-15 mins to cleanup the kitchen while he chills). I love all the snuggles but I really am missing doing things with two arms. Also my belly has a bulge that won’t go down and it’s making me self conscious. Milestones/Appointments - 6 week checkup next week for both me and E and physio after that. Really hoping I can get my belly figured out. To Do List - finish picking the newborn photos we want to order (have to get rid of two more shots which is hard!). Take his 1 month picture. Do any of you do a monthly photo? What do you do for them? This time we are using alphabet blocks on a blanket and with DS 1 we used a chalk board with him on a chair so you could see his growth. Here is a pic of E taken this weekend:

aries I do monthly photos, but without props so this probably isn't helpful. I just like having the pictures to see how much they grow each month. I will say that the one month photo is always in their coming home outfit so you can really see the size difference. After that first month it doesn't really work though...

Weeks - Almost 4
The Good - The older kids are still in love with him. I was worried that the newness would wear off, but I was wrong. Also, he fits in the Ergo now so our walks are better now (other than the heat).
The Bad - Sleep. He will not sleep in his bassinet, especially at night. I'm so exhausted every morning by the constant up and down. There are nights when he will only tolerate it for 15 minutes at a time...
Milestones/Appointments - He's officially out of NB diapers and clothes. Size 1 diapers hold so much more than the NB ones.
Also, I have an appointment with a lactation consultant for tomorrow morning to see if he has a tongue tie or any other feeding issues that may be affecting his sleep. Plus, I still have some pain from a less than ideal latch that we can't seem to improve on, so I'm hoping we get some pointers and help there too.
To Do List - Get the NB clothes out of his dresser and my maternity clothes bagged up to give to my coworker who is due in December. I'd also like to start a light exercise program (walking and some diastasis recti), but sleep is more of a priority for my sanity right now.

Weeks-1 week tomorrow
The Good -D had his first checkup today and weight was great. We had also had to do blood draws for jaundice checks both Saturday and Sunday but she agreed he looked good today and we’re likely over the peak.
The Bad - he doesn’t like to be put down or fall asleep unless he’s nursing. We’ve gotten a couple 3-4 hour stretches but only if he’s in my arms. Like, I tried all evening to unload the dishwasher and finally said screw it and came to bed.
Milestones/Appointments - maternity pics Wednesday, checkup for me on Thursday.
To Do List - finalize what we’re all wearing for pics,

I do have to share this photo - not first kid problems. Christmas pajamas in June and a pink nursing pillow.

txaggie08 so cute. I’m now on my third boy in a row using a flowery pink boppy cover. I know you’re not supposed to let babies sleep too long in the swing, but I did at that stage with DS2. The motion helped. Desperate times call for desperate measures Age - May 15/6.5 weeks The good - Ben has been sleeping pretty well in terms of giving me a decent first stretch each night. He’s also gaining well and has started some awesome social smiles. The bad - I’m trying not to spiral over plans for schools in the fall. I think it’s highly unlikely that our public elementary school district will go back everyday. My older kids really need the routine and the learning after months of no learning - online school may work for some kids and ages but was ridiculously ineffective for my kindergartner and 2nd grader - and I don’t have the capacity or patience or skills to help them with school 60% of the time next year. So we’re touring a private school Friday. I think the fact that the private schools don’t have to negotiate with teachers unions plus smaller class sizes will allow them to go back in person even if public school doesn’t. We would have to make some sacrifices to afford two kids in private school on top of the new baby in daycare, but I think school 5 days a week is best for my kids and our family (and definitely for my career). So we’ll see. Appts - I had my 6-week follow up Friday and all was good. My OB mentioned that she’ll refer me for a mammogram at 40 and in my head that seemed really far away and then I realized it was next year. How did I get so old? Next baby appt in a couple weeks at 2 months. To do - lots of house organization stuff. I thought with my older kids back in childcare I’d be able to accomplish more, but most days between taking care of baby/exercising and showering/making sure we have food, laundry put away, doing a bit of work - I haven’t been able to tackle much yet. Oh and here’s a pic - he looks concerned that big bro might drop him.

aries I just do monthly pics on the same blanket. I don’t put their age or anything on the pic. When I do V’s 1 week pic tomorrow I’ll share it. On another note, will baby tolerate being worn in a wrap or ring sling? At least you’d have both hands available in that case.

Weeks- 5 weeks/ May 22 The Good - C is such a sweet, cuddly baby. She is giving one long stretch at the beginning of each night. I just wish I could go to sleep when she does to take full advantage of it. The Bad - With 4 kids I just feel like I can’t get anything around the house done. I’m trying to just accept it but I hate when the house is messy. We also aren’t sure about daycare when I go back to work in August. Our kids are considered “drop ins” at our current daycare because they only go 2-3 days per week and they aren’t the same days each week so I’m worried that they will not take our kids back. There are no other daycare centers in our small town. Milestones/Appointments - My 6 week PP appointment is next Monday. To Do List - I’m trying to get rid of the boy stuff that DS has outgrown to clear up some storage space. I also need to go through the kids playroom. They have way too many toys and don’t play with a lot of them.

Weeks- 5+ The Good - G is just so sweet. And the boys are still so in love with him, especially DS2 who is hugging/kissing him every chance he gets. He's getting super big and much more social. DH isnt gonna know what to think when he sees him this weekend. The Bad - Just juggling taking care of a big kid, a toddler, and a newborn, plus the house. I feel like there isn't enough of me to go around, and my older 2 are having way too much electronic time. And of course this pandemic makes it worse. Like I need to go to the grocery store, but I can't just go. No way am I taking 3 kids there right now. So I have to wait until I can get someone to help. I know it'll get easier. It's just tough right now Milestones/Appointments - 6 week (closer to 7) on July 8 To Do List - organize food for baptism; wash baptism gown; switch out remainder of NB clothes that's too small

Haha @txaggie and sdlaura love the pics! Love all the pics of everyone’s babies they are all getting so big already! trtlcrzy he does like the baby bjorn so at least I can wear him but he fusses and acts like it’s horrible if I’m not moving so not to eat or anything sitting but I wear him to vacuum and for walks. Once he falls asleep in there though it is good. magaroni I hope you get confirmation for daycare ASAP! That is my biggest stress for going back to work is finding new daycare and knowing I have that locked in in advance.

Weeks- The twins are 11 weeks old this week
The Good - The babies are doing really well with night time sleep. We are getting 7-7.5 hour stretches now which is awesome, and then they go back down until 7:30-8. Their naps are also pretty good. I seriously love those SNOOs though, damn they are amazing. They are adorable and still pretty chill. The nanny we hired is doing one day a week for a few hours each day just to get familiar with them before I go back to work and she’s also commented that they are “easy” babies and she loves them already lol. I’m glad I have easier babies since dealing with two of them is enough on its own!
The Bad - They do still get a little fussier during dinner/before bedtime which can be difficult to manage when trying to also give my oldest attention during the few hours of the day he’s home with us.
Milestones/Appointments - Nothing until their 4 month appointment in August. They are holding their heads up pretty well and we tried the sit me up chair today which they were actually cheerful about lol. They are growing like weeds, I think I am about 1-2 weeks away from moving up to 3-6 month clothes.
To Do List - Nada. Just enjoy my last full month with them before I go back to work in August.

I am sending my sincere sympathies to those of you with clingy bad sleep babies. My oldest was like that, he wouldn’t nap anywhere but on me until he was like 8 months old and his daycare naps were crappy too. I hope it gets better for you all! I feel like I got the karma back this time though with two good sleepers to make up for the hellion that was my first, lol.
Regarding month photos, I ordered a twin “months” blanket on amazon. It has a little circle to lay each baby in on the blanket with the months between them and I just put a little circle around the corresponding month.

Weeks- 2 weeks
The Good - she is sleeping a little better at night and I’m moving around better.
The Bad - for me, I have a UTI and I had an allergic reaction to the steri strips so I have a rash over the incision plus a nerve got pinched or damaged somehow which is causing a burning pain on the right side. Sigh.
Milestones/Appointments - E had her two week appointment today and she is back to birth weight! Yay! She dropped 8% of her birth weight the first few days so we had to do weight checks but she is doing good!
To Do List - For me, work on a basic schedule and get the family back to normal and hopefully get better from all the icky side effects I’m dealing with.

I’m sorry about all the health stuff you’re dealing with Radley! I hope it improves soon. It definitely took me until 4-6 weeks to feel like we have a somewhat loose daily schedule.

It’s frustrating for sure, but I’m trying to give myself grace with the shchdule and house work. Newborn, plus two older kids, plus healing, plus all the health stuff is crazy. I forgot how much sitting you do after having a baby!!

Weeks- B is 4 days old!
The Good - you guys, this baby is the most chill kid ever! He's an incredible sleeper. I have to wake him every 3 hrs to eat, otherwise I think he would sleep right through! (Once he's back up to birth weight I'll stop waking him.) He also nurses pretty well, though I'm not sure how great his latch is because it *hurts* when he gets started.
The Bad - I'm noticing he favors one side of his head when he is laying in the bassinet. I hope he doesn't end up with a flat spot. :/
Milestones/Appointments - he had a jaundice check appt yesterday but everything looked good!
To Do List - still need to grab a few last minute things off my Target baby registry, but then that is it!

danib What does baptism look like for you in your province? We are planning for August but it will still be a private ceremony with 30 people max. Im sad to miss the whole congregation being part of it but it is what it is I guess.

Im sad to miss the whole congregation being part of it but it is what it is I guess. It'll be private, but we can have up to 50 people now. You have to have hand sanitizer available and people should be able to distance or wear masks if they aren't in the same "bubble", and sharing food is "discouraged". Now our bubbles are fairly big at this point, we were allowed to have a two household bubble as of two months ago and then last month it expanded further. So a large portion of the people attending are actually in the same bubble anyway (big families) and NL has had zero new cases for over a month and zero active cases for more than 2 weeks, so we're comfortable serving food after (will still have hand sanitizer available and won't be passing the baby around just in case).

Count me in the club of nothing is getting done! L will be 3 weeks on Sunday and it all kind of feels like a blur.
He’s pretty much gotten rid of the jaundice so hopefully next weeks hematology appointment goes well so we can get fully cleared. He was back up to birth weight at his first appt when he was 6 days old and just has been eating like crazy since then and chunking up nicely. But once or twice at night he’s skipped a feeding and I’m trying not to spiral too badly since he eats really well during the day. It’s been a long time since we had a newborn and it’s like I have forgotten everything - DS1 is almost 8.
Do I need to worry? Or just be thankful he’s sleeping well? He usually goes down for the night about 8:30-9ish and last night he didn’t wake up until almost 4am. I tried getting him to dream feed around 3am and he was having no parts of it. I’m pumping during the day and we do formula at night until hematology clears us, so I know exactly how much he’s getting since we are using an app.
I feel like a brand new parent all over again!

Okay makes sense! We won’t be having any food at the church but will go home to our house after for cake and fruit. But our guests will basically be our immediate family and maybe a cousin and their family who is in our bubble. Even our godfather (from Toronto) won’t be attending since Ontario still has quite a few daily cases. We’ll try to get a live feed of the ceremony so he can watch. They don’t even have water in the fountain right now but instead just pour holy water from a jug. But who knows by August what it will be like really - could be way better or even worse than now.

Do you have a scale you can weigh yourself holding him then weigh just yourself to see what the difference (his weight is)? I think too sleeping is also important for both of you and helps promote healing and growing and if it’s not a common thing it’s probably okay, hang in there!

fikafairy I’ve never woken my babies to eat at night, even before they were back to birth weight (I luckily haven’t had to deal with any abnormal amount of weight loss with any of them as newborns). We did have some weight issues due to breast milk intolerance stuff at 2-3 months with a couple of my kids and even then I wasn’t advised to wake them at night, since the situation resolved quickly. I only wake during the day if they go too long, in the hopes that they’ll go longer at night!

We have the advantage of being an island, and the virus was basically everywhere else before it even reached us in the first place. So we were beginning to shut down before we had a case. And then our first outbreak brought immediate quarantine and travel restrictions. Luckily the majority of the population took it seriously (we have an aging population here and unfortunately a large portion of our population also has health issues that fit the risks with Covid, so that probably played a part in people being careful). It still could have easily been worse but once we got it under control, the island kept us safe. I'm nervous now that we are opening up travel though.

fikafairy all 3 of my boys had jaundice and we had to feed frequently to help flush it. I never did formula though and only pumped to top up DS2 in the first few days because he was my smallest (at 7lbs lol) and earliest (37w1d). But once the pedi saw that my milk was fully in she said I could stop the top ups. Anyway I stopped waking them in the night between 2-3 weeks. My criteria was that they were over birth weight, I could see they were continuing to gain and having lots of poops so I knew they were getting lots of milk, and they were at the age where they were getting more alert so I would easily be able to tell if they were lethargic due to jaundice. They all also feed tons all day long so I knew they were getting enough that way too.

Yeah I’m not worried about how much he’s getting since I know that. He also woke himself up last night at 2:30am so it might have just been a fluke!
I did the weigh myself, then weigh myself holding him thing and according to that super “accurate” way he’s 8.6 lbs. He was 6 and 12oz at birth so that doesn’t seem right but I’m guessing he’s closer to 8 lbs?
Anyway I think I will probably offer at least a dream feed until we get cleared then I won’t feel so conflicted.
