Hi there!!!! I can't remember the last time I checked in here and for that I'm sorry! I will try to catch up but I hope everyone has been well, all things considered. Not sure where to start, but I think last time I checked in we were househunting? Well, we closed and moved right before the quarantine orders came into effect here in NYC. We're still under lock down with Phase I set to begin June 8th last time I checked. So I've been working and teaching remotely, virtual EI sessions for the twins, virtual schooling for DS1, and handling moving, organizing, and home projects. We've managed to all, thankfully, remain safe and healthy, which is almost a miracle given the amount of COVID-19 patients MH has seen. We love our new house and neighborhood, have met some of the neighbors and kids from a distance, and look forward to things reopening here so we can explore our parks and libraries. I'll still be teaching remotely through the summer and fall so I'll need to figure out how to balance things once NYC announces the structure for the school year. Cute kid tax for being MIA.

I feel like Iām experiencing a Groundhogs Day thing- everyday is so similar Iām losing track!
Things are slowly reopening here, but we are still staying home and keeping our āgerm circleā small. MIL is going to come visit later this month bc sheās been having a hard time being solo through all this. Itāll be good to see her and have a little extra help with the kids. We are not allowed to travel at all, so itās going to be a long summer.

I know I forgot I posted this...even with our state opening we are still staying home. Though we did start doing weekly playmates with one family who we trust to behave.

We still can't get a straight answer as to if both of us can go with him or just one parent. If it is one MH is going since he has done all the appointments.

Hey ladies Last day of school friday and i cant wait. Teaching remotely is not for me. Today i go to school to say bye to my 5th graders. They are driving by and waving.
Our state is partially reopened but we havent done much, still have to wear masks everywhere.
We are taking J to my friends Friday for an outdoor playdate. It will be the fjrst thing weve done since March13. I think I am ready. My parents are coming to see us next week. I havent seen them since February and am more than ready

Iām working from home this week since my MIL went back to work. R went back to daycare Monday and is loving it. Her and her BFF are so happy to be back together - I got lots of pictures of them sitting together and holding hands. (He never stopped attending and they would send me videos of him talking to R)
T gives me a hassle about doing school work. Iām worried about what theyāre doing to do for the fall. T starts camp at the end of the week, so Im excited for that!

bsouls Sounds like daycare is normal-ish? Iāve been in touch with my former daycare provider. She said the new regulations would be impossible and sheās glad she decided to close. Not allowing to share toys, no sharing playdoh, no cloth at all. masks all day. 6ft apart. But whatās actually happening?

@starzia The staff wears masks. We canāt go inside, just drop off/pick up at the door, so I donāt know about toys in the room. They do have baggies with their play doh, crayons, etc. Theyre trying to do as much outside time as they can and they stopped using common areas in the building. Honestly, I donāt care about them following a lot of the restrictions, because theyāre with the kids 6+ hours a day and I think itās a little ridiculous that they have to wear masks. They check temperatures when the kids walk in and make sure everyone uses hand sanitizer.

Yeah they are talking about teachers wearing masks all day in the fall and im struggling. A lot of my kids read facial expressions to help them get on with life so masks will be difficuly. Im also struggling with wearing one all day but will if i have too

Wearing surgical masks is insanely easier than cloth masks. So if you need to wear one all day, Iād look for surgical ones. Those donāt bother me as much and some days I barely notice them, but the cloth masks are a lot thicker and irritating to breathe through **for me**.

I agree I have cloth masks that is fine for going to the store. But my job has the disposable ones and itās much easier to breath in. Not fantastic to breath in. But better. And I almost said at work. āI canāt breathe.ā But yes I can, I canāt ever say that sentence without heavy feelings.

We basically kept her in business and because our kids were from the same family the enforcement wasn't as strict. In two weeks other kids come back so we will see.

PDQ ** I live in Poof** just now daycares can open since Monday. Iām not pursuing Daycare, Iāll keep my babysitter in my house three times a week. It sucks because Daycare is so good for kids. Iām probably not sending M to preschool. Unless things improve so much that weāre in a phase that school looks normal. Hoping next year things are better.

@starzia I wonāt quote you but you know where I am. Iām also not going to send M. It sucks but this state has been one of the top 5 in cases all along so Iām just not super confident come fall. She also is the type to rub her eyes, fingers in mouth and picks her nose lol gross which was not like D1. She feels like a walking germ magnet to begin with. Iām nervous because my other starts K in September.

Iām in NY, but Western New York - Buffalo. Itās a day care center... I mean they sent out all their changes... I just think itās ridiculous and didnāt really bother to read whatās changing. Iām not sure precautions are really going to work in that setting if someone brings it in. Kids are kids. And, if you need day care then you need day care.... I took a survey from the county about schools opening back up. Some of the questions about proposed changes are nuts. I think itās crazy to think a 6 year old can do virtual learning long term, especially when parents are still working. I wrote a bunch of stuff at the end and pretty much said, if my kid doesnāt go to school then she will be in daycare... which a lot of kids will be, so whatās the point of closing schools?

bsouls I know, I have college students who can't handle online classes i am so glad none of mine are in school yet because there is no way they could hack it or MH and I would survive homeschooling. My college is going to be residential in the fall and faculty are expected to be in class. Ot we be a mix of in person and online for physical distancing but I just can't see it working.

This is my thought too. If kids arent in schools where will they be? Daycarr or babysitter or somewhete else. I saw WV just posted their guidelines for fa and they will go to school 4 days a week then 1 day at home remote learning so schools can be deep cleaned. That makes more sense then a lot of the other optioms out there. I have PD on iur new online platform fkr fall so my guess is Maryland schokls woll be at least partly online. Im ok with some online but we need to be in school. Kids need to be in school. I was one if the only people who did google meet so i "saw" my kids weekly but it wasnt enough. I think we are planning to still send J to school in the fall as long as things are pretty low key. We live in a very rural community and our county only has 185 cases total. His school is very small and he only goes MWF 9 to 12.
