I know elle and I are watching... anyone else? Elle nicely described it as Hart of Dixie meets Gilmore Girls! I'm currently on episode 4.

I’m watching! I had the exact same thought re: Hart of Dixie and Gilmore Girls.

I'm already finished, lol. There's a pretty big cliffhanger last episode so I hope season 2 isn't far behind though I know that that's unlikely with filming being delayed due to covid.

I’m watching! I never watched Hart of Dixie but I am feeling the Gilmore Girls vibe. It’s like summer time Hallmark Christmas movie. I’m enjoying it!

And now I'm going to have to read the books or something to find out what happens because I don't want to wait. So annoying. lol

It popped up and I was so excited for something Hallmark-ish but not so cheesy? I really like the main plotline and like how each main character has their own main issues and navigates through them. It's very relatable. I'm on episode 8 but has it been explained about Dana's past? It keeps hinting at a hurtful past but I haven't caught anything yet. I picked up on something happened to her when she was in high school at a party drinking but I didn't pick up on anything else.

Obligatory the books are so much better-I tore through them last summer. 10/10 would recommend. The show’s concept is essentially the same but there are a ton of differences so its not as accurate as I had hoped.

I was so excited and I wanted to love it but I couldn't get into it. I loved Virgin River but this was just a bit too soapy somehow and I also sometimes have trouble with southern accents so that didn't help.
But I'm hoping that the genre is getting Netflix lots of views so that they keep creating more of this type of content. I feel like no one else really is.

I watched it and liked it a lot. All the over the top southern metaphors got a little much and Chris Kline’s southern accent is..... cute lol But I definitely enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next season. Maybe I’ll pick up the books in the meantime!

I'm watching but it's very slow for me at times. I was initially interested bc of Brooke Elliot from Drop Dead Diva but it's kind of been meh imo.

It's meh. I admit to watching it because it's one of the few shows DD and I watch it together. I do like watching Cal and Maddie, they are sweet together. Bill is a real shit pig. Dana Sue reminds me of the kind of mom I don't want to be, so taking notes on that. I find her unapproachable and dismissive of her daughter. I like Helen too.

Geez, that was a cliffhanger. I wasn’t obsessed with it, but I would watch season 2. The characters were growing on me. Some of them, haha. Not Bill.

Chris Klein’s accent is really something. He turned the good ol’ boy meter on a bit too hard.

I think Chris Klein is a bad actor at the best of times, and that Southern accent was the worst.

I just finished. Talk about a cliffhanger. It's like they threw in whatever they could think of to fit into one episode.

I am glad no one has mentioned what the cliffhanger is, because I haven't quite finished. But yes to Chris Klein being awful in this, lol. It's so bad.
The older son is gay, right? I feel like they are alluding to that. Maybe this ends up being covered at the end of the season.

I feel like they are alluding to that. Maybe this ends up being covered at the end of the season. I hadn't even thought of that!!! I was justifying Tyler not wanting to get with Annie because they had probably been friends from the womb. Would he want to mess that up? If they break up, their moms are best friends!?! But even now thinking about how he was with Cece, I'm wondering. Can we talk about Jamie Lynn Spears? I haven't figured out if she's a bad actress or just if they wanted her portrayed that way so we'd really dislike her. She seemed quite young and I'm not sure she "gets" that being the other woman, doesn't always work out for them the way it did for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. She seemed to not get that for the most part, the kids would blame her for ruining their family. (Not to say that Bill wasn't at fault either, but the dynamics of that are different) I loved how she wanted to be supportive of Ty and his baseball, Kyle and his acting, but also... know you lane. Bill was just ugh throughout and Chris Klein is disgusting.

I was kind of picking up on that too but wasn't sure if that's where they were going. What were the clues I missed? I’m too lazy to watch again! There was a scene where Maddie is talking to him about going on a date with Cal, and saying “you can’t help who you’re attracted to, one day you’ll find that out,” and he gets a weird look and says “yeah, maybe.” I could have sworn toward the beginning of the season that there was a scene with him hanging out with a guy and someone walking in and him getting flustered. I could be misremembering. He talked about how dating Cece was basically convenient, but nothing about him being attracted to her. I think he knows Annie likes him, but doesn’t know how to let her down gently. Could be because he just doesn’t see her that way, so that doesn’t really have anything to do with his orientation. I don’t know, just everything together gives me that vibe. But I could be misreading it!
