I'm going to keep trying and keep hoping we come back here! Actually with all the stuff going on, I'm surprised we're not on here more. DH has made it back to his ship! He survived his quarantine. Some guys for a different ship popped positive. Which means now they will be doing a week quarantine in London, before 2 weeks in Egypt. The only way that will work is if he's only home for a week, or if they extend it to 8 weeks. Either way sucks for me because all the quarantining happens on my side. {What do May Flowers bring?}Pilgrims
In case you don't know that joke!

I'm going to premise this with, I'm having a bad day! I'm not a single mom. I know that! I don't know how hard this day is for them when they have littles. I'm not trying to work and raise a kid during a pandemic and this makes me feel a thousand times worse but Mother's Day is just going to suck! L's teacher sent his menu item of 16 things to do this week (she does it every week) and it all pertains to mothers day and I'm not doing any of it! Square 1: List all the things your mom does for you and your family. Write each thing on a separate piece of paper. Choose one and act it out to see if your mom can guess what you're pretending to do!?! Can't do that with just the 2 of us. Another Box: make a secret surprise card or picture for your mom. So just not doing it this week. It feels self serving. The point is supposed to be appreciating and he's too young to do that, and I don't have a husband right now to show him how.
I hope the H's who are home step up and do something amazing for you ladies, you deserve it. Mother's Day cards for the grandmas are already ordered. We use postables so you pick, you write what you want, and they send it for $3.99 which is cheaper than a lot of cards and a stamp. Plus I'm not touching a thousand cards to find the perfect one!

Cheshie6 Complain away. I know a lot of moms are a little upset the kids won't be in school during mother's day because they won't be getting little gifts or pictures, etc. Most men suck at Mother's Day and they rely on the schools to make it up to them. Lol.

So today, L has a zoom meeting (in 10 minutes) and he's acting off, Nala's acting off! I have a feeling its going to be an off day. How's everyone doing in these pandemic times?

Just now realizing there’s life in this thread!
I also don’t have high hopes for Mother’s Day. Especially given the circumstances. We may do take out Saturday night at a local Mexican restaurant and then a little family brunch Sunday morning at home.
Our weather has been absolute shit so it’s been really hard being stuck in the house. I try to get the kids outside at least once a day for all of our sanity but it’s been hard when it’s so cold or raining. B has 6 zoom meetings a week and he’s just about as checked out with them as I am. Yesterday our governor made comments about how all this technology has been great for the students and schools and everyone is freaking out that he’s going to try to make this our new normal in the fall. I can’t do this forever.

I'm very lucky that our weather has been fine during all of this, other than a few days it was hot as balls. H is amazing on the balance bike now but put him on his regular bike and he can't figure out how to pedal and steer at the same time. It's quite hilarious. When I was home with both kids, we'd go for a walk/bike ride at least twice a day.

waitwhat, Yeah, I hope this doesn't become the new norm! L hates the zoom classes and they are only once a week! I also feel like because his class is combined with 3's and 4's some things are too much to expect of him. Also, we have crappy internet. If this becomes the norm, the state will have to make high speed internet a utility like phones, gas, and water. Not saying we shouldn't have to pay for it, but everyone's home should be outfitted for it they want it. I feel like the longer we're socially distant, the "normal" people are starting to get crazy and believe crazy things. I love how my neighbor posted a conspiracy theory about how this is some plot to take over the world but is like "I'm not sure I believe this but make sure you keep your power." This same neighbor who wanted to socially distance together though her husband is in the military and can be called to something at any moment. She asked a week after he was exposed to the virus and was tested and came back negative. Maybe social distancing is making me more judgey !

My neighbor's kids could never figure out the balance bike.

Well Woke up to snow, but here a few hours later the sun is out and it is melting away!
What are you kids loving? Obsessing over? L's loving mail, mysteries with clues (favorite story is a Minnie story called "The Missing Daffodils!") as well as trains!

We decided to ride our bikes to the farmers market down the street. It wasn't that great so M asked if we could ride to the bakery. It's about 2.5 miles away. MH has taken the kids before but I've never gone. I really had to pee and wasn't expecting to ride that afar, but I was outnumbered, so fine. We ride to the bakery.
We get 100 feet away and MH's bike chain/gear thingy messes up. So I ride my bike all the way home to get the car and pick them up. . I haven't ridden my bike that far since I was 10 and I was hightailing it back to the house so they wouldn't have to wait that long. I think I'm going to die & my quads are on fire.
Now I'm drinking mimosas & ignoring everyone.

The ENT will not attempt versed or benadryl or anything else I suggested on H, in order to calm him down while attempting to remove the tube from behind his ear drum. HE'd have to be monitored and they say they aren't set up for that and it's a liability. So tomorrow MH will be taking H back to the office for one last attempt. FX this works and we don't have to pay for surgery.
I'm not going to get my hopes up.

So NH is opening up a bit more. I know on the news they were floating opening gyms, etc. (still a no on pools) Neighbor who wanted to "quarantine together" seems to be quarantining with another person. Honestly, I'm not sure if they are or are just like "screw it, we're not sick and neither are you!" I'm glad that I didn't agree to this because I think she would have still had said friend over today. Am I crazy for being so cautious? I know being stuck home alone with a toddler sucks but her husband can still be called in because he's in charge of a huge group of soldiers. Neighbor admitted she's not as worried about it. I'm wondering if they've just got Covid burnout. (Is that a thing?) Or maybe they're willing to widen their circle. tgrimes, I'm sorry! I wouldn't want surgery either. If this fails, when can they get him in for surgery? I get that they'd need to monitor him. Is he in pain? Did they give him pain management? I'm going to pray they do one last attempt and for H to be calmer.

Cheshie6 I’d imagine they could get him in next week or the week after. They’re still only able to do certain surgeries. I don’t think he’s in pain but I’d imagine it’s more of a nuisance. Who knows? It’s been back there since February.

tgrimes, how are you doing? How's H? My mom isn't doing well, my sister is taking her to the doctor now and she may have to be admitted to get scans and tests done. She said she hasn't been able to walk for week, though I spoke to her almost every day of last week and she didn't say anything. The hope is they'll admit her for a few days, to get her strength back from being dehydrated and not eating because she can't stand. But it may require long term care that she be admitted to a nursing/rehabilitation place again which means I'll have to drive with L to NYC to get my brother because he can't be on his own and Amtrak isn't running this way at all. Which will then mean we all need to quarantine for 14 days just in case. Having cancer sucks in general, having a cancer during a pandemic is 1000x's worse! I feel guilty that I can't be with her, and L of course asked this AM if he can talk to her. I'm just going to leave this here because I don't want to bring down the SC discussion and it's also easier for me to avoid thinking about it. It seems my community isn't being as careful as they should be as Hannaford To-Go has been getting easier and easier to get slots for them to do the shopping. That works for me, easier to get groceries without taking L into the store and hoping in not touch something, fight to keep his mask on (though he's getting better) There's a huge debate on our FB community board right now about whether masks should be required. The OP only said, for those that care, Dollar General isn't requiring their employees wear masks. It basically dissolved into if you are afraid or compromised don't go out. We're in a very purple area that seems to be leaning red.

So as of last night, my mom seemed more alert. Her potassium, calcium, and electrolytes were really low. 🤞🏽it was just that but they will be running more tests!
L asked for her again today 😔 I should have her room phone number tonight and my sister will get her tablet and phone to her so we can talk to her tomorrow.
Edit to include calcium and electrolytes.

I completely missed this thread this month. Obviously things have been hectic for me, but I promise to check in here more going forward (tag me in if I don't, seriously!). I think it's because I say hi on SC, so I just forget to.check here too. But SC is harder to go back and see what you missed, so yeeah... Cheshie6 I'm late, but you know I can relate, so many hugs sent your way.
