C is 18 months as of last week and still a peanut- 19.5 lbs and 30 inches tall at his appointment last week. He's super funny and loves to make people laugh, although he's still not talking a ton. We ditched the wubbanub last week at the pediatrician's recommendation and he's definitely trying to talk more and started saying woof-woof a couple of days ago. He's great at communicating though, he nods and shakes his head and makes it known what he wants with yelling and gesturing. Hopefully this is the push he needs to start saying some actual words, if not we're going to revisit it with the pediatrician at 21 months. Thankfully getting rid of the pacifier was actually lower drama than I expected, he doesn't seem to remember it and is just asking to bring his water cup to bed at naptime and nighttime instead.

Hey Dramaphile! I'm still around. Mostly just the Royals thread at this point but I'm on almost every day. DS2 is doing great. He's 19 months and such a monkey. He loves to climb stuff, to the point that I almost feel like we need to turn our basement into a climbing gym for now to give him something safer to climb. There's a rung ladder up to the monkey bars on our swing set and he goes to the top rung where big brother stops at the 2nd from the top still. We were supposed to have our first visit at the Southern California Food Allergy Institute on Monday, but cancelled due to everything going on. I asked to reschedule for June so I'm waiting for the call back to do that. Hopefully flight options are better by then. AFM, life is kinda crazy. Our daycare never closed but we chose to pull the boys anyway so they've been home for a month. I'm also still working so trying to mom full-time while working from home full time is not easy and has been resulting in a lot of screen time and not so fun behaviors from the 3 year old. We extended their leave of absence from daycare through May so we're looking at another month of this. Daycare has been taking extra precautions and there have been no cases go through daycare so that plus our state's hospitalization numbers have been dropping for a week now so I'm hopeful that by the time June rolls around I'll feel ok sending them back.

Nymeria working from home with little ones is so hard! I was home for a month and DD's preschool has been closed since mid-March and will be for the rest of the school year. C was definitely happy to have me home, but was also boob obsessed and wanted to nurse all damn day while I was trying to work. DD has good days and rough days and definitely has had more tantrums than before. And has developed so much attitude, too. Lots of slamming her bedroom door and yelling "just stop talking!" when she doesn't get her way. 4 going on 14 apparently. I got called back into the office for my job this week, so MH is home with the kids and I'm here. The kids have taken it ok, although C saw me on facetime yesterday while I was taking a lunch break and got upset.

Dramaphile - It's a lot better on days I can take a break from work and get us all outside for a bit, but it's been raining so much lately too so that throws a wrench in things.

HI! I'm still around, mostly on General Discussion.
DS is doing great. He was 23lbs and something inches tall at his 18 mo appt. He, too, loves to climb on everything and get into everything. He talks quite a bit but most of his words sound the same. We're working on it and definitely limiting the pacifier to just at night so he talks more. I spend most of my workday keeping him alive. Right now he's playing out back in the rain with DD. Probably should have put a rain jacket on him before I let them out and also not forgot they're out there. Is that how benign neglect works? ::facepalm:: I've had 5 conference calls today and I'm shot.

Hi everyone! Kudos to all of you that are working from home and parenting. I feel like I'm barely surviving and I'm just parenting!
Both dds are so crazy right now. Dd2 wants to do everything like her sister so she gets lots of bumps and bruises. She's talking up a storm and is getting quite the attitude. She's starting to push dd1 around a bit (she's 23 pounds and dd1 is 32 pounds and I'm guessing dd2 will catch up quickly) and she's learned to cry to get what she wants.
We pretty much water the plants, paint rocks, jump on the trampoline, and go for a walk every day. I've kept up with my gym workouts so I do those in the morning and dd1 gets to watch a movie while I do that. I can't wait to actually go places and do things with other kids and families hopefully soon!
ETA: my gym has live Facebook workouts, I'm not actually going into the gym (in case anyone thought I was no being careful)

brenna - I'm jealous of your walks. All I want to do when it's nice out is go for a walk around the neighborhood but all the boys want to do is swing or play in the driveway. I can't remember the last time I was able to take more than a 10-minute walk.

I can't remember the last time I was able to take more than a 10-minute walk. dd1 always resists the walks at first but we usually find at least a few painted rocks/hidden Easter eggs so that keeps her a little more motivated. We've also been trying out other trails around our house so we get a little variety.

Also I let the girls go outside by themselves a lot and so far we haven't had any injuries or anything so 🤷

C is definitely going through some kind of growth spurt, he's been asking for food constantly. MH said yesterday he pretty much ate all day and when I got home he was whining for food (he goes to the pantry cabinet and opens the door and whines or yells till you lift him up and he points at what he wants. He housed a banana and two slices of cheese and cheerios while MH was getting takeout for dinner and then ate most of a taco. No idea where all this food goes since he's so teeny.

Hello!!!
It’s been so long since I’ve checked in here. Glad to see you familiar ladies are still here. L just turned 18months. He’s a hot mess and I love it. I did postpone his 18month check for the time being due to Covid-19 so I don’t know his current stats. We’ve had a crazy year so far. Hes still nursing and I’m so over it!! But we made progress and cut it down a week ago to only at nap, bedtime and overnight until he wakes up since he sleeps with me. He was nursing like 8 times a day so this is a big deal. He’s definitely still very much a sensory seeker but the biting has slowed down, though he’s moved on to other painful sensory seeking behaviors. I really need to get him evaluated. He also has had awful eczema that is only getting worse. It’s awful to look at his skin every day and see how he scratches all day and night leaving scabs at times. He also happened to have an allergic reaction to hummus the other day leaving hives. So an allergy test will need to be planned soon. He wasn’t talking a ton until about two months ago and just has had a bit of a language explosion. He’s still no where near where my daughter was at this age but I have to remind myself not to compare. He loves getting dirty, popsicles, Frozen, Cars and Airplanes. The kids fight constantly. I just wish they would play nicely.
Since the pandemic, I’m happy that we are able to not be in the car all day long like we used to. Now I’m able to do fun hands on activities with him like I did wjth DD. I love watching him learn and figure things out.

Well, ditching the pacifier was the right decision, C's babbling has exploded over the past couple of weeks. He's saying "Mama" and "Dada" more consistently and says "woof-woof" for dog and he's making a much wider range of sounds.

pixiepink24 I so feel you on the being over nursing. When I was home, C wanted to nurse all damn day. Now I'm back to work and just nursing when I get home and before bedtime, and on weekends he nurses in the morning. He still asks and gets mad when I say no or ignore it, but he's giving up quicker. I nursed DD till she was 22 months and had a slow weaning process. I don't mind the bedtime sessions, but I'm starting to feel very over it.

Hey everyone! I dropped off posting anywhere for a long time but now i'm back (mostly in the Animal Crossing thread lol). DS is great. We missed his 18 month appointment due to COVID so no clue what his stats are but he's a hilarious, spunky little guy. He's not talking as much as my DD did at his age but communicates pretty well overall. I had to shut down my business in Mid-March due to COVID and it is still closed. I'm stressed with figuring out new procedures for when we reopen and also stressed with keeping us afloat financially both for the business and on the personal side. It's an intense time. That said, we are very lucky to have a healthy family and a safe home so I'm trying to stay optimistic. I'll try to check in here every so often, it's nice to see how everyone's doing.
