Technically not yet April but I really feel like we could leave March behind and hope for April will be better.

O17!!!! You guys have been super awesome! Having the kids around is keeping me so so much busier. Hubs and I also got sick last week like on the same day. Not gonna lie, we panicked a bit and I ended up having a cold ( much better now!! ) and he only had a sore throat. None of us had a fever so we are relieved. We also thought about intimacy distancing!!?? crazy right. Both the kids are fine and driving us bananas. I feel like I am just following them and picking up stuff everywhere. DS actually has been good about "cleaning up" but his idea of cleaning up and mine are obviously not the same. Nonetheless he's been trying his best and I appreciate that. Lil fella on the other hand has been OMG super obnoxious...and both of them together can sometimes be like hell on wheels. We started officially homeschooling this week. Hubs and I are discussing we need to get a new device. DS has an old iPad and it's too old for the apps his school uses for his daily school work. I don't trust him with my MBP and hubs is using my Mac for his work - he's using like 2 desktops and 2 laptops He said he'll also be getting another MBP from work but it will take a bit now with all the SIP ordinance. It's been a struggle for everyone I know. We managed to get 80% of DS' school work his teacher set up completed for today. I am still unclear if there were extra's she sent since several of them weren't on the weekly checklist. I think this week will be a trial and error for a lot of people. bootsorhearts1 glass broke on our patio door.Luckily it was the outer and I am waiting for a quote for a replacement glass. Not sure what happened. If it was an impact, it looked like it was on the bottom which is bizarre. Speaking of O17. I remember we had at least a couple of mom's in the NYC area? blackmamba and @owlsomething?? I hope they are safe and well. I am so heartbroken at the situation in NYC. I spend a good deal last week checking in with my friends and finally heard back from my aunt and cousin who was living Elmhurst ( they actually moved!! to Jersey ) not that it's any better since North Bergen is where they moved to a couple of weeks ago happens to be the hotbed for Jersey - Ugh! Anyways all my friends are safe and counted for so I am relived. CoachTsWife invest in a good chair. I hate to say this but I think with the disappointing way the FEDs are handling this, we're in for a long haul to stabilize the situation. Safer for everyone and schools to just close for the year and start up in late August/Sept.

duskymonkey You have such a good memory for all of the O17 posters! I remember rebeccabunch and mkrupar and codex320 too, but I don’t think any of them were on the east coast. I hope you get your glass door fixed without too much damage to the pocket book - what a bummer of a freak accident to happen, especially during these times! Also, glad to hear you and the hubs are feeling better and that nobody developed a fever - phew!

I posted in the March thread on accident, but...they are now saying we can’t send our kids to play in the gardens or the playground on our compound, which sucks so hard. For all of April...ugh. I hope we will be able to at least walk around outside to do a circuit around the buildings, but I could see them saying no to that. Time will tell. Ughhhhhhh.
In happier news - my Italian neighbor gave me an awesome flourless dark choc cake recipe after she shared an amazing tasting big slice of it with our family. I am going to try to bake it this week. If it’s a success, I will share with all of you! It’s not too sweet, with a crisp crust and rich inside. Perfect. I hope I can repeat what she’s done.

Hi duskymonkey and Taitai! I am on the east coast! It's been a weird couple of weeks. Thankfully(i think) daycare is still open so we all have a somewhat normal schedule. I hope all of you are staying healthy and not losing your sanity during this mess. I haven't checked in in what feels like forever but I think about you guys often!

Come stay here this month! Not much has changed since you left, except a global pandemic 😂🤣😭😫

H has a reduced schedule at work so that's a little worrisome (he's not that worried, but I am). I'm working my normal hours at home - can't beat the commute! The governor issued a stay at home until June 10 I think. I've been really avoiding the news.

I am struggling with ideas to get the oldest outside and away from his Nintendo. We have tons of outdoor toys (bikes, kites, basketball, trampoline, swing set...) and he’s just not interested. I made him a scavenger hunt today and he and H had a water balloon fight. I need more single-person things to occupy him while H and I work.

March felt like the longest month ever but now I feel like April is looming ahead and will be just as long. I’m trying to find a routine and have managed walks each day. I can’t decide if it’s the exercise or alone time I like the most.
Tomorrow we have a staff mtg via Google Hangouts and I will need to be up, showered, and dressed by mid-morning. This should be interesting because most of our staff are not tech savvy so I can’t wait to see and hear what gets said on camera 😂

Taitai all the thoughts as you keep the boys engaged and busy inside. If you google “preschool go noodle” a lot of video short movement type videos from YouTube pop up. GoNoodle is popular in elementary schools for movement/brain breaks during class but they have some content for PreK age kids too and we’ve used them on cold days here already. curmudgeon chalk? Fort building outside? Do you have an old digital camera or iPad he could use to take pictures of specific things outside? Can he take some action figure toys out? Scavenger hunts was going to be my suggestion so 😬 duskymonkey I too feel like all I do is pick things up all day... or tell them to pick their own things up all day. All day. And if I stop doing it or saying it than it looks like a tornado in 10 minutes. @codex320 👋 hey!! 👋

danvers I gave him my phone to do a 2nd photo scavenger hunt. And he takes trains out but he wants someone to do everything with him and I just can’t play outside all the time. I try to do 20 min here and there and so does H but then we rush back to work. I’ve even tried working outside just so he has company but he wants me involved. Lol I wish the 2 year old could go out with him to play but he’s too little and our yard isn’t fenced. 😞

duskymonkey, I got my bike out the other day. I haven't ridden it in probably 9 years.... I tried to air the tires up with DH's air compressor and they wouldn't inflate. Is it likely that I just need to replace the tires or the tubes? This is just a regular adult bike - nothing fancy or special.

codex320 I still can't get over your new handle Glad to see your response and come on in and hang out again. How is your girl doing? danvers explosion of toys and stuff every 10 minutes is exactly correct and I am exhausted. The boys misbehavior box is so full I cannot put anything more into it. They're losing more stuff than earning them back oy! Taitai I retain strange and random info in my head, mostly useless lol! I do have pretty good visual memory which comes in handy for my job. I want some chocolate cake! I am trying so hard to not make anything cos I'll just eat it all plus I only have a few oz of bittersweet chocolate which is a crime in our house. I typically get another lb more when I get that low. I may break down and make something this weekend since I need to use up some sour cream. curmudgeon DS will be 6 in a couple of months and still sooooo needy! We started homeschooling this week and the first few days went ok. Maybe when he starts with schoolwork you can keep him busy that way and away from his nintendo? danvers has great recos. I have none

Is it likely that I just need to replace the tires or the tubes? This is just a regular adult bike - nothing fancy or special. Try the tubes first but if it's like 9 yrs, you likely need new tires as well, they may be cracking. Also if the tires have been sitting flat for a long time, the tubes may have gotten pinched by the rims and it's best to inflate it off the ground and check it partially inflated to make sure it's sitting in the middle of the rim and tucked in centered in the tire before fully inflating it. Also check if the valve is fitting the compressor correctly?

Today was a bit of a rough day. We had new material and I was trying to help DS and "teach" him and lil fella was totally being obnoxious and getting into everything and interrupting and distracting DS. I think I'll need to let DS' teacher know that we'll be a day behind because I need the night before to prepare and review and actually understand the material so I can actually attempt teaching DS. TBH I don't really understand how phonics work either. I didn't learn to read that way. Luckily DS knows what it is and can work on his assignments on his own even though he is able to sight read words. I am also struggling with cramming all his schoolwork in the morning so there's no time for us to take a walk in the morning anymore and I am sad about that. I had hubs take them out after work while I make dinner so they at least was able to get some fresh air and exercise. Also lil fella has been a bear to put down for naps lately. What's nap looking like for everyone?

curmudgeon I thought of you and this was totally me today when I had to use the potty and the boys bursts into hubs con call ahahaha I was on a call yesterday outside because everyone was inside. Luckily not video. But DS1 came out and started jumping on this hoppy ball right by me and all you hear was bounce bounce bounce. There was a pause on the other end and I just said sorry my kid is bouncing. 🤷🏻♀️

Our company is strongly urging everyone to turn on the cameras during conference calls so that we feel more connected. I really don't mind it, it actually does help a ton and it's nice to 'see' everyone. DS1 has had cameos in a few meetings. At first it was just a sheepish smile and then it turned into making goofy faces and sticking out his tongue (I can see my own camera as well so he wanted to see his face do weird things), so I had to put a stop to that. One day DS2 was screaming his head off upstairs (I work downstairs) and my team could hear him and they're all like, "yikes...." and I was like "....yup......" lol. In general I think people enjoy seeing people kids pop in from time to time. Provides a bit of comic relief and reminds them everyone is doing the best we can right now.

It has been sitting in the garage for years, so I'm sure the tires/tubes aren't in great shape.
Maybe I can find a bike shop that'll let me drop my bike off curbside and they can take a look at it. Or I'll just wait until all of this is over.

duskymonkey DD2’s naps are all over the place right now. Some days she skips them and other days takes three hours?!?! We’ve tried to burn off her energy in the morning so she’ll nap but we also try to the majority of DD1’s preschool work, housework, and our work stuff so sometimes she’s just left to play and I don’t think she’s tired 🤷♀️

The days are blending together. I still feel like we have no schedule - a lot of that is due to work. They just closed our public schools for the rest of this school term so now H and I are waiting to hear what we have to do. We are not a “distance learning” or “e-learning” school district. So our administrators are scrambling to fulfill state requirements and figuring out something equitable for all our students... which means H and I are just sitting at home waiting to hear when or if or what we’ll need to do for work.
We did get some yummy steak, baked potatoes, and cheesecake from a new-to-us local restaurant day!

danvers Like was for the steak, potatoes, and cheesecake! That sounds awesome. Sorry you are in limbo about what is next for the rest of the school year. These poor kids who don’t have the resources/home environment for e-learning. I’ve been thinking about it a lot and am concerned what this virus is going to do to widen the gap between students as a result of socio-economic status. CoachTsWife curmudgeon I too have had kids screaming or making noise in the backgrounds of my work calls. You can tell who does and doesn’t have kids (or who has kids, but maybe are/were not home enough to truly understand what it’s like to deal with toddlers and kindergarteners all day). I have gotten some comments, but move past it quickly. People seem to understand that there is really no way to avoid these situations now. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ The days are also blending together over here too. DH and I are really lucky that we have our nanny with us at this time. I think we are going to close ourselves off in the guest room one night in the next week and have the nanny/kids watch a movie in the living room, so DH and I can have a “date night” with order out food and nextflix, sans kids. I feel like we’re always together, but our kids are so needy, that it’s hard for DH and I to connect and have alone time.

We are hanging in here, taking it day by day. DD1 starts her new e learning program tomorrow. It’s not mandatory but it will be nice to give her something to do. The province sent out another alert to people’s cell phones using the emergency broadcast system to tell people to stay home. I definitely saw an improvement today vs last Sunday when I came home from work.
My BIL’s mother is in a long term care facility and they thought she was dying of Covid Thursday night but she has E. coli and something else. So she is stuck in the hospital in isolation for 14 days because they may have given it to her at the hospital but also can’t safely self isolate at the LT care facility because of all the outbreaks. It’s such a mess and now my sister and BIL have to isolate for 2 weeks at home because they thought she was end of life and they were in emergency with all the covid patients they where wheeling though. My sister said there was probably 30 people that went by her because the paramedics would call it out. This is just at one of the many hospitals. What a mess, at least she is doing better and the meds seem to be working for now.

My parents and in-laws are finally taking this seriously and getting pretty scared. I keep telling them to stay home. My uncle has to go back to the hospital for a check up tomorrow and I’m worried they won’t be able to 100% keep him away from any corona contact. And an assisted living facility in the county has over 80 positive patients, one of which was our county’s first death. I’m sad. I’m worried for my parents. I’m worried for H who already has decreased lung capacity. And my job announced they are laying off 1/3-1/2 of our employees. I just feel sick about everything.
