Does anyone else wake in the morning and feel like life is just so...
It's hard to come up with the right word, surreal?
Its exhausting in a way, but also relaxing because it has made us as a family slow down.

I hate how wearing a mask has turned into such a political thing.

Well BM and I sat with a white board and tried to figure out how to manage the home school days and shift Ps day care schedule to line up and minimize the number of unsupervised hours per week our kids will be binging on Netflix through while also getting almost enough work hours in.
We failed. We got nothing.

I feel live I've settled into a kind of alarming set of habits of calming actions surrounded by a sea of anxiety and panic caused by things going on in the world. Like, I can pour my coffee and listen to a song and have a moment, but then it's time to dive back into reality.

Except whoops, life is the bad dream.

Just what we needed, a tropical storm to eff things up more. Lots of flooded roads and possibly a tornado about 20 miles from my office, ripped the roof off a daycare and overturned cars. No serious injuries reported, but that's scary. Our house has no power, but otherwise our town just got the edge of the storm. Currently sort of trapped at my office. Both intersections on the road are closed/flooded, rain is supposed to stop soon so hopefully the water will recede by the evening so I can get home. I really wish i'd driven the SUV today...

Exhausted, but also sometimes I appreciate having less to do because pre-covid we did way too much.

Good news, one end of the road is open enough for us to get out. Hopefully the rest of my way home is open as well. Skies are clearing up, but it's still pretty windy. Good luck to everyone still in the path of the storm, hopefully it loses some more steam before it gets to you!

Good luck to everyone still in the path of the storm, hopefully it loses some more steam before it gets to you! We're getting it right now, but fortunately it's blown to the west of us and we're just getting steady rain now. On my 4 minute drive home a tree branch fell on my car, which gave me a good rush. A bunch of small branches fell right in front of my car and I made the split second choice to drive over them (I'm not sure there was a choice at all) and then another set of larger branches fell onto my windshield. I'm shocked that it didn't seem to crack at all. But my antenna ripped off and my side view mirror got knocked loose (but I think I fixed it). So that was fun. I'm glad that you got home!

mapleme that must have been scary! Glad you're ok and your car wasn't damaged more. We went to eat dinner and hang out at BFF's house when I got home since the power was still out. Fortunately it came back on at the house around 8:30. There are still some flooded areas and downed trees, fortunately my coworker called me to let me know the best way to get in this morning since we go the same way.

I'm trying to decide if I should write to HR to voice my opposition to their re-opening plans.

I'm trying to decide if I should write to HR to voice my opposition to their re-opening plans. I cant remember, do you have a direct supervisor that you can talk one on one with? It seems unrealistic to be requiring everyone back in the office when your job can be done at home safely. Our office told us that unless our job requires us to physically be in the building not to come in. They haven't come up with a good logistical plan to keep everyone at a distance safely.

I'm trying to decide if I should write to HR to voice my opposition to their re-opening plans. You should. It sounds like you’re already willing to quit your job if they force you to go in. You haven’t got anything to lose and you’ll be a voice for yourself and others who agree with you but are too afraid to speak up.

I mean, I'm willing to leave the larger corporation and I *think* I'd be able to take the grants I won and I solely work on with me. But that second part is essential to my income.

My direct supervisor is okay. I'm not that worried about him. But they are requiring testing and I assume at some point they will see if I don't show up and get tested. And if they don't see it thats almost a bigger red flag.

There is a possibility that if you resign, they may come back offering more flexibility. But this is never guaranteed.

Just found out our kitchen cabinets are set to be delivered...the day we’re supposed to close. So yeah, that’s not happening. Hopefully it doesn’t delay us past the end of the month because that’s when our mortgage stuff expires and I do not want to resubmit all this dang paperwork.

And the lady running that ran the webinar yest that prompted me to be more angry. Oh and they laid off the staff lawyer and outsourced that. Seems like a good time for that. 20 million endowment here. Not strapped for cash.

I am living this gif every day. I'm usually very able to handle traditionally stressful situations, but between figuring out schooling for my kids, buying the building, moving, staggering business growth, FIL's health and *waving around* all this, stress has consumed my life. I recently had my first multi-day migraine and I need to not repeat that ever again. So I'm living this gif and it helps.

Welp. Just committed to distance learning... until perhaps Jan 2021. Perhaps all school year. Who knows.
Guys, I'm not a teacher. Spring wasn't great. Well, I thought it was, until my reading specialist friend assessed that H is pretty much where he should be... if it was March 2020. So he basically hit pause.
I know all kids are in the same boat. Or, similar watercrafts. And that distance learning will look different this fall (so they tell me...). But. Ugh.
Leaving my job to become a distance learning support adult wasn't what I thought would happen in 2020.

SO took a job with two days notice so now I’m scrambling to find childcare where our schedules overlap for 2 hours a few early mornings a week. And of course it will be me taking time off or calling in sick if we have no one to watch them. I’m so tired of this always being my responsibility.

My school just announced it’s hybrid plan. I will be teaching in person every day. I have no child care for my kids on their remote days. Our regular day care is closed, and family health issues have eliminated my usual backup options. I have absolutely no idea what to do.
