Hopefully, this is the start of warm weather for some. Daylight Savings time is next Sunday. The groundhogs (Phil and Chuck) seem to be correct in their guess that spring may make an early arrival. I'm excited to hear about those getting their garden ready. I'll vicariously live thru you! starbuck, was you that seeded your grass in the fall? Let us know how it turned out!

Cheshie6, yeah I seeded the back in the fall. It's shady so we used fescue, which is a cool-season grass and young fescue would have been scorched in the summer. This way it has time to mature, get deeper roots, etc, ahead of summer heat. Now, I have to figure the front yard where we use a less-labor intensive grass (caterpillar). It's currently more weeds than grass. My seedlings are underway. I have Paul Robeson tomatoes (really amazing heirlooms), cucumbers, Spanish mammoth bell peppers, jalapeños, kale, basil, and parsley. I have some beets and cucumbers, too, but those will go straight into the ground. Then, a few pollinator plants - milkweed, hyssop, bee balm. Also, I also put in a rosemary bush a week ago, and Sam is getting me a two pomegranate trees for Mother's Day. In non edibles, we needed some ground cover on the side of the house and rather than spend $$$$ to buy plants I got a bunch of creeping thyme seeds and those are underway in the seed tray alongside the veggies. I got a bunch of plants for Christmas and those will come in March: Spanish pink lavender, beauty berry bushes, and a Passion Front Andromeda (bleeding heart).

Today's my first school book fair as a parent! I'm excited to see how L reacts. There won't be many (if any) train books as scholastic has very few and I have bought most of them, so I wonder what he'll gravitate towards. Once I see how this PTCO does it, I'll consider volunteering for the next one. My background working at Barnes and Noble would probably be a help but the PTCO at our school is a clique and they have no interest in hearing other people's opinions.
One of my favorite couples are moving at the end of May because though the school announced it's accepting of all regardless of their identity, they didn't do anything physically to make those who are marginalized feel accepted. No gender neutral bathrooms, continue with father/daughter dances, or mother/son dances. They are two women, their kids will never have a father/daughter dance leaving out their kids. One of their kids is fluid. I teach their swim class and they have a very hard time because their sister is almost level 3, they struggle because of the twin thing. "Why do we both have to swimmers?" But their moms love me because I respect when they say that they are a they. The PTCO won't just do a parent/child dance that way all feel included regardless of family makeup because "it means so much to our little girls to have dad take them to a dance!" I don't know how that would change. Call it that in your home but be open to other families! Darn small towns. I always thought (being from a big city) small town life was the best. I guess the grass really isn't greener.
DH leaves for training this week for 2 days. I'm a little sad, he's been killing the potty game! Before he got home, L only sad on the potty a handful of times. He's pottied every morning right after waking up (his diaper has been dry) but DH is better about bribery. LOL He gives a skittle every time he sits on the potty (not just for going) and he gets a sticker that gets him closer to Rebecca when he goes on the potty. He's been on they potty 3-4 times a day since DH started this. Who knew DH would be a pottying wizard!?!

Cheshie6 We have moms show up for the father/daughter dances. A lot of dads are in the military or work late or work out of town/country. Surely they wouldn't turn them away if they showed up for an event.

We're having dinner tonight with some friends that moved to Mexico City a couple years ago. I purposely picked a place with half price wine and goat cheese stuffed bacon wrapped dates. Yum.

The weather has been warm here! We’ve had a few 50* days. The snow is melting but we have so much mud. I think it’s going to get back down to the 30s this week but hopefully the snow is just about done.
Not much going on in my life. The kids are busy with school and B with therapy. He’s doing really well I feel. We have our spring parent teacher conference coming up at the end of the month so I’m curious what his teacher has to say.
I just signed B up for kindergarten. That I cannot believe. And J will be going to the school B is at now, which is in the same building as kindergarten. So I will be bringing both kids to school since they start within 10 min of each other but I’m debating on whether or not to make B take the bus home. He wants nothing to do with the bus but maybe if he will be open to it if the school sends him home in one. He will basically have no choice but to take it home. But I do feel bad because he’s one of the last kids off so he’ll be on the bus over an hour.

Overall the book fair is the same, definitely had more than what the flyer said they would. But I’m loving the high tech aspect. They take cards, you can set up an account online and whatever your child doesn’t spend will be put back in your account! All the pens and erasers brought back memories. And the bookmarks, I feel like you don’t see cute bookmarks much any more. Lol

Lol /geeking out AT M's elementary school you can have family members send in money to surprise the kids when they attend the book fair. You can even specify, no stickers/toys, etc. It's very fancy now. H's school doesn't offer that but at least I can pay by credit card. Lol.

DH took L with him to get his new TWIC card (transportation workers ID card) which is used by pilots, sailors, dock workers, etc. not in the military. So I'm home alone with the dogs for just over an hour before I have to head to work. I get to go to work alone and since things are running late, I get to eat dinner alone. I love MH but this is such a gift! Just to not negotiate with a 3yo on where to eat and what to eat and he is very much a sit down and eat kid. (He dislikes drive-thru) He takes over 45 minutes to eat because he's watching people, talking, playing, etc. I'm going to enjoy the quiet time!!!

It's definitely not looking like an early spring for us. It won't stop snowing. They are predicting a hot summer though. Which yeah, we are due for some heat, but I'm not sure how I feel about itt being extreme on each side. I'm miserable with a cough still. Boys are still getting over theirs as well. It's leaving me pretty irritable. Sorry DH. But not sorry because maybe don't do things to irritate your already irritable sick pregnant wife.

Survived our marathon of appts but I was the asshole with my kid coughing everywhere. M then spiked a fever after we got home 🤦. He's doing better again so I don't know what to think. Probably still a sinus infection and maybe croup. No school tomorrow. We will see about Thursday. His parent teacher conference is Thursday night too. Oh and I broke his inhaler mask. Why do these things require prescriptions?
P.s. I love the book fair but they are not that fancy at the school I taught at. I forgot to go to Ms in the fall.

sarahwithanh, I went to one 5-6 years ago, not this high tech. I love that it gives some more access to books. Not having to get cash. I wonder if you can donate like $10 for a kid whose parents can’t afford to buy? I will swear book fairs and the scholastic book sheets they sent home reinforced my love of reading. DH is at training till Friday. He won’t be home till Saturday 3am! Company booked flights. 🙄 I have my lifeguard recertification next Friday!! I’m nervous, it’s every 2 years and they always “improve” something. Luckily as a swim instructor, my job really only depends on CPR, I just like having the lifeguarding too. It’s Thursday, any confessions that you don’t want to share on GD? Any fun weekend plans? We didn’t get to sign L up for swim lessons (had to wait till Bill got paid) and class was booked with 3 on waitlist. I was thinking of taking a break for him anyway! It’ll be nice to not rush out Saturday mornings.

M has a fun run next week so we called my sister and my SIL to see if they would pledge money for a lap. I had M prepped on what to say. We call my SIL and when she answers the phone M say, "Do you have any money?"
No kid. That's not what I told you to say.

Wyatt always leads with "I need you to give my school money so I can have a prize." Which is exactly what I tell him NOT TO SAY

Tomorrow I head out of town. I don't remember if I told you all but I applied and was accepted to this program called partners in Policymaking. It basically is a class on disabilty rights and how to be an activist. It's pretty official and a lot of former partners end up running for school boards, advisory committees, political office, and more. This weekend is the 4th of 6. We will be meeting with our legislators tomorrow. It is fun and I love it but also exhausting. It goes from noon tomorrow until 3pm. They pay for everything including the hotel. We have class until 8pm but then always have drinks after. After I'm done I have to rush back for two birthday parties for 3 kids. Strangely enough they are back to back at the same location. First one is for siblings. It's at a really fun gymnastics place but 4 hours is a lot and I'm not sure the food situation. One other family is attending both. Two of the 3 kids have Down Syndrome.

How were the birthday parties this weekend?
Ugh to daylight savings! Hopefully, Liam will go to bed early (purposefully no nap) to make up for it. We’ve hit a bump in potty training and now he’s fighting us.

Does anyone ever wonder what is amazing about their kid and what’s just normal?
L is negotiating. This morning we said we had to go to Target and he said he needed more trains. We said no he had enough. Somehow I ended up saying he has 7 Thomas’s to which he replied but he needed 10! (😳) I said 7 was plenty, and he said, “8 it is then!?!” 🤣 Where did he get these negotiating skills? He loves numbers (still little to no interest in letters) but is that amazing for a 3 year to know quantities and numbers well enough to try to negotiate? Or is this what every 3 year old does?

This time change is really screwing me up. I was wide awake last night until after midnight, My alarm woke me up at 7 this morning and both of my kids were still sleeping which is usually not the case.
On another note, its going to be 65 today! It's a heat wave!
