That's so awesome tgrimes . We went through the adoption process (spent a number of years on the waitlist, did all the classes, family stuff, etc) and my gosh it's not easy. I get so happy for success stories. **We removed ourselves from the list after H was born. I had actually gotten the call that we were in the final stages, ready to be matched, when I was in the emerg with my hip, like 30 minutes after they told me I was pregnant and loaded me up on morphine for the pain (what a spin that day was!) I remember you posting from your hospital bed.

tgrimes, I love research so let me know if you need help. Maybe not for M but the new Harriet movie is out on dvd! I know it’s due today We may have another snow day tomorrow or potentially a 2-hour delay (which for L is the same thing) and I don’t know what it’ll mean for their Valentine’s Day exchange. Waiting for his teacher to get back to me. Planning on taking his valentines to school at pick up and we’ll see what she says. I hope they postpone it a week because he’s been super excited about it. (he doesn’t have school on Friday but the other kids do)

H had an ENT appt this morning and the right tube is gone. It was there a week ago when we went to the pedi. I swear if I have to pay for another set of tubes this year, I’m going to be pissed.
Anyway, he doesn’t think the prophylactic ear drop is a good idea. I really need these doctors to put their heads together and come up with a plan that everyone agrees on.

Are they all in the same network, same office building, etc. or are they unconnected practices. This is what drives me nuts with healthcare. You can go to five different doctors, and they never come together to solve the whole... it’s piecemeal! I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Only 2 of them are affiliated with Texas Children’s Hospital. Well, my pedi is too, but she hasn’t been involved in any of this. The immunologist has spoken to my ENT before when he thought his tubes were colonized last year. It’s not that hard to pick up the phone. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Snow Day today! L is very disappointed as he thinks today is Valentine's Day! I told him his school will do it on Tuesday so it doesn't seem quite as upset. He is really excited about these Gummy Bear Valentines. LOL
What did you all decide for Valentines for the kid's class? (If you did them)

I taped some little bags of skittles to them, as well. H got what ever sticker valentines came with the skittles. #doingtheleast

I've bought 3 rugs today. I need to stop shopping. I wanna see. They're not that exciting. Target was having a sale. This one is for H's room. It's just plain navy blue. This one is for the play room because the other got torn up by the vacuum cleaner. This one is for M's room. I showed it to her last night and she told me she hated it, so that's good to know. I figured with the colors it should last awhile though, even when we change the decor.

Those are nice tgrimes. DH wants to buy some rugs but any time we've had then in the past, the cats just destroy them.

My sister flew in to surprise me last night. I knew she'd come, because I did it for her 40th but I figured she'd come tonight or tomorrow. The kids were so excited to see her. She helped me get them ready this morning and she made me go to work. She said she brought papers to grade and lesson plans to do. I'll take tomorrow off to hang out with her though.

Anyone else’s kid in a pushy phase?
L is saying, “you have to...” and I don’t like it. No please or thank you. Today was, “you have to pick up my cup!” And this didn’t start till he stayed at the neighbor’s for a few hours. He’s also in pre-k with the neighbor’s kid.
Please tell me this is a phrase and not bad influences. Lol

I think it's just a matter of him not knowing how to properly phrase things.

We’ve always been a stickler on saying please/thank you so H doesn’t have this issue. Neither did M at this age.
However, NOW M has a big attitude and I’m still having to remind her to be polite and ask nicely, etc.
So I’d say it’s a phase.

We have been sticklers for please and thank you and if I say nothing or ignore him, he will say it with the please. But it’s “you have to pick up my water bottle please.” I’m disliking the “have to” and wondering where he got it. My guess is Thomas like his “indeed” lol “I am hungry, indeed!” Sir Topham Hatt may be influencing my toddler!

I think it’s for sure a phase. J’s new thing is “I can’t do that I’m busy” and “can’t YOU get it for me?” when I ask him to get his own toy, or pick up something he threw on the ground etc. I think it’s a combination of things they learned from peers at school, teachers, and probably parents. I know I have told my kids on more than one occasion that I was “too busy” (doing dishes, folding laundry, middle of making dinner) when they asked me for something or said to him “can’t YOU pick that toy up since YOU threw it?”
Kids are sponges, man.

"You have to put away your crayons so we can go outside." Things like that.
