The flu has *knock on wood* not hit this area too hard. We keep washing hands like crazy and I have hand sanitizer in the car for the girls to use immediately upon pickup or after errands like the grocery store shopping carts.
I put in a 12 hour day getting the inflatable planetarium set up. Next week is “StarLab” week and I’m the only certified teacher with training so I’ll be out of own class but still teaching lessons with everyone at school. It’s a lot of prep to write substitute plans and also prepare for other grades but I love all things science so the lack of sleep next week will be worth it. 🪐 🌍 🌙

Thank god! Hubs just got back tonight. FML too that this was the week he traveled for work and it snowed 2x and I had to shovel and bundle both kids out every morning to get DS to the bus. At least school was delayed so I had extra time to get them both dressed and they could play in the snow while I shoveled the driveway waiting for the bus. Everybody is talking about the virus. Taitai I hope the Thai authorities can keep it contained. Statistically, the survival rates are better than MERS and SARS but the speed of how contagious it is certainly is a big cause of concern. Also so sad about the Dr. who was reprimanded. With China's open door policy, I think we tend to forget that they are a communist country. My cousin and his family live in Beijing and will be moving back to ANZAC in a few months. Not sure now how it will impact his move. I am sure he's like wishing they moved already. They're just taking it day by day. We will try to FT with them this weekend to provide some entertainment for my poor nephew stuck in the apartment. Anyways with all of this, my folks won't be traveling back anytime soon and it could take a few months before any decision will be made. Of cause I got a call last week from the studio asking if I could come in starting March to work on a possible long term project. Gah! I need to figure out my priorities. Also speaking of viruses, did you guys read about the kid that died from the flu due to advice from anti vaxxers!! F anti vaxxers! danvers, I can be a bit extra but I always sanitize the kids hands when we get in the car, wash hands when we get home and when DS gets home from school, he changes out of his school clothes too. I rather take measures to prevent. Meh. hubs just told me one of his workmates had a fever yesterday - he's from CA and they were in SF.

Aside from sad news about infectious disease and authoritarian regimes...DS2 has been really great on the potty training front! No accidents in 2 weeks 👍 Not one in the bed yet! He pees before bedtime at 7:30pm, and then goes when he gets up in the morning around 6/6:30am. I’m just waiting for a regression or something, but for now I’m really pleased with how the whole process went! Totally amazing! I hope it will continue this way. Lil fella now runs up to me after the fact trailing a malodorous smell behind him. I never realized how awful it is since we never really had to deal with it with DS. Sigh, at least he tells me instead of sitting around with a smooshed poop. Also I found a use for the peri bottle, we sit the potty after the fact and I can at least squirt and clean his bum using the peri botle filled with soapy water. Now I have to figure out how to potty train him and I think we'll wait until it's a bit warmer, it's been frigid here.

Question for y'll. Where do you shop for clothes? The last few years, I've mostly shopped online at GAP, ON, BR, Zara cause it's where I usually get kids clothes since I am there, I would browse and get something for myself if I needed to get to free shipping. I guess with me being home, I am really lacking a lot of casual clothes. Tell me where do you shop at?

Taitai I continue to be amazed by your DS2 and have told my Real life friend who has a son around the same age. He is #ptgoals. duskymonkey My coworkers wife is a flight attendant and flew into Beijing 10 days ago, she said it was surreal with seeing so few people not only at the airport but the lack of traffic was visible on landing. They did the turn around as passengers because the airline didn’t want them staying the normal 48 hours. I also do a similar decontamination routine with my kids, except no sanitizer in the car since the daycare has some at the entrance. danvers I had to google to see what it was but it sounds really cool and like a lot of fun for the kids. I wish we had something like that here.

duskymonkey Taitai and everyone! Not much going on here. Surgery planned for next Monday gah. I don’t tolerate Percocet or any of those high powered pain meds so my plan is just to take those horse pill ibuprofen that they give you after a c section and hope for the best. Anyway looking forward to two weeks with minimal responsibilities and a nicer waistline. 😂 We’re going to Disney at the end of March. And work is crazy but I haven’t had to travel much so grateful for that! Kids are good, but we’ve been dealing with sickness of various kinds all winter. Little girl is talking up a storm, she loves her ballet class and swimming and her gymnastics. She had a sleepover last night at her auntie’s house and had her nails painted. Little diva!

Oh I forgot - we do stitch fix for both kids and it’s a game changer. It’s a little pricier than target but still pretty reasonable and we get some fun, unique things.

DS1 loves the original Jumanji and really wanted to watch the 2nd one. So I let him without looking at the rating (PG-13). There were a lot of shits and asses said in the beginning for a 6 year old. But we powered through because I wasn’t going to waste my $3.99 rental fee dammit. He fell asleep and I may have cried at the end.

bootsorhearts1 Good luck tomorrow! I’m excited for you! I hope the large ibuprofen pills do the trick! I wish we had stitch fix out here....or any online shopping really. I just don’t have time to go out and shop anymore....which is something I actually really enjoyed doing pre-kids! The prices here for anything imported is just so ridiculous too - I can’t bring myself to spend 3x full price for BR, Gap, etc. Zara and H&M are about 1.5-2x the price of stuff in the USA, so Zara tends to be a better bet for me right now if I actually go to a store. duskymonkey Hope your H gets better soon! We always wash our hands as soon as we walk in the door. I find that the tropical germs out here necessitate more hand washing too. I noticed that ever since I started washing my hands IMMEDIATELY after walking in the door (and making everyone else do it), we’ve gotten much less colds. Also - my nanny just told me that her daughter’s school doesn’t have SOAP! No soap anywhere! I guess this is common for Thai public schools. Just terrible. They don’t have toilet paper in the bathrooms either (Thai people tend to not use TP ever - they just wash with the bidet hose that is next to most toilets). But then...no TP, no soap...they just wash their hands with water after they go to the bathroom and then eat meals??? So awful. All hand sanitizer has been sold out everywhere for the past week, so I gave our nanny’s daughter a travel liquid squeeze bottle, along with a big container of liquid soap. She can keep the travel squeeze bottle in her backpack and at least she can wash her hands at school. The things we take for granted in the USA...

Hi all! Still in Hawaii and it has been glorious! My kids are still waking up early but it gets dark early too so I’ve just been going to bed at like 8:30/9 and then it’s not such a big deal 🤷🏽♀️ I think DS is getting his 2 year molars because his fingers have been constantly in his mouth which is very unlike him. DS2 is getting slowly better at napping alone which has been nice. I can usually get him down for 45 min-1 hour naps now, sometimes longer 👍🏻 He will be 4 months tomorrow and we are in the midst of leap 4 but I have extra help while on vacation so it has honestly not been as big of a deal

News is just not good over in my area of the world....so I’m going to live vicariously through doodlemommy and think about being in Hawaii! Have you had any açaí bowls yet? How about fresh pineapple and coconut? I really love it there. Glad to hear that your littlest is napping okay by himself! It makes a world of difference when you can have that time to yourself for a bit. Enjoy the beach and sea breezes for me!

Or maybe their immune systems are strong from having to fight all the germs being shared. I'm glad you were able to give them some hand sanitizer, tho.

We’re having a Frozen 2 party This evening because it came out for digital download today.
Are we extra? Yes.
Were the girls in heaven watching Frozen 2... while eating Frozen cupcakes.... and coloring giant Frozen coloring pictures while watching? Also yes.
We acknowledge our extra-ness over here at least 🤷♀️ 🤪

I like J.Crew! I always find they have lots of casual options - I basically live in j.crew cotton tops and shorts when I’m not working. I totally forgot about JC. Their clothes never really fit me (no petite sizes) and I do like their sensible style although it's been like 15 yrs since I've shopped there? I took a quick gander online and they do have petite sizes and kids clothes too! Maybe I'll see if there's anything the kiddos need too.

I trained my bladder to not go to the bathrooms when I was at school. The toilets are horrific. I mean like I have PTSD to this day just thinking of them. It really could be beyond what you guys can ever imagine. Let's just say that sometimes it's so bad that kids desperate enough will even go behind the toilets or bushes behind the toilets. Just a horror. Sometimes the canteens will have a bar of soap at the sink but even I don't want to touch it and you'd be lucky if the tap is even operable or have running water. You really also do not want to touch the faucet. So yeah... as kids, I never washed my hands in school until I got home.

bootsorhearts1 did you already have your tummy tuck? That's what you're doing right? If you are how are you doing? I joked about that to my OB and suggested her do a TT during my hysterectomy and she just rolled her eyes at me and laughed. haha! Well Instead of looking like I am 20 weeks pregnant pre hysterectomy, I now look like I just had a baby so I'd take that and I am hoping I can start getting to do crunches soon and start firming them flabs out!

Also used to love going through Anthropologie on my way home when I was working in NYC. The Fifth Ave location had the best basement sales.

Guyyyys help.
E decided a few nights ago that she can pull herself up in bed now (and thus stand up but thats not the point here). This is great except she doesn't know how to lay herself back down.
Tonight we put her to bed, she was mad and sat up to complain. When we checked on her just before we went to bed, she was slumped over half awake and really sad. Like, she just sat there for 3 hours and didnt lay down. Im so sad thinking about it.

What a week. I am exhausted between the kids and weather and annoying clients. Hubs is out shoveling now - 10pm. It started snowing again at 5 and we got about 5 inches by 8pm. It's tapered off so not much accumulation but still I am glad he's home. I'd go out and help but the dryer is almost done and I need to fold laundry too. Hopefully it won't be so frigid tomorrow and I can toss lil fella out for a bit of fresh air since it's been about a high of 28 here. Hoping it won't snow when he's away again in a week's time. I also had a PT conference about DS and my head is spinning about how to deal with his asynchronous development. I've obviously started doing some research but there's so much info to take in. Anyways I might have questions for our resident teacher danvers. Now I have to go fold laundry! hah. Hope everyone is doing well.

Maybe you could just turn it on and keep an eye on her, so if it happens again you could ease her back into a laying down position. If you don’t have a video monitor, perhaps there is even a used one you could borrow/buy from someone? Hugs - that’s hard.

Thanks We do have a monitor and we tried letting her sleep tonight for a bit like that, and then go in and lay her down. She immediately starts crying and sits back up and we start back over at her falling asleep all hunched over. I dont know how to make her just... not. Its currently 10:30 and she's slept for maybe 20 mins and its all been hunched over.

cythe, awww....she's probably excited to be able to pull up and don't wanna go to sleep. Can you have her lay down with you or your H until this passes? or just hang out in her room with her so she'll feel secure? Lil fella lays down with either hubs or me every night and we transfer him into the crib after he falls asleep. Sometimes he'll ask to go into this crib either way one of us is in the room until he falls asleep. I know they should fall asleep on their own but for us it works better this way. They fall asleep faster and it won't be forever plus we do like snuggling with them. DS is 5 now and we still lay down with him for 10 minutes or so after lights are out. When we aren't able to, we just tuck him in and leave and he's ok with it so it's won't last long. Moreover we ( probably just me ) no longer get an opportunity to snuggle with them as they get older since they're just constantly moving and can't stay still How have you been? How is your kitchen project going? Update us girl!

He's like a wuss and will run away at the scene of the marionettes in Polar Express. He also got super upset reading the first chapter of Harry Potter and I thought he'd be ok so we've stopped reading it - he woke up MOTN the night we read it and had a nightmare.
