I’ll start us off because I’ve been a lame lurker lately and it’s 3am and I’m wide awake. 😐

CoachTsWife wow, I can’t imagine how to tough it is to sit and listen and then make such a big decision in all that. I’ve been summoned twice but never selected. curmudgeon please say you packed some sunshine to ship over to the Midwest. I haven’t seen the sun in days... maybe weeks. I’m so glad you all had a good time!

How long do your two years sleep at night? Like, if you don’t have to wake them up for daycare or anything how long will they sleep?
We put DD2 to bed around 7:30 and are up by 6:30 on school days. But on the weekends she will sleep till 8:30am or later (similar bedtime though). She still takes 1.5-2 hr naps on the weekend, just like during the week.
Maybe this is normal and it’s my firstborn who just doesn’t sleep like this? I mean, I love the sleep but what do other toddlers do?

Heyo! It is Super Bowl weekend, my birthday is Sunday, AND my team is playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 YEARS. There is electricity in the air in KC. GO CHIEFS!
Plus the weather is amazing, it is supposed to be 67 tomorrow and that never ever happens on my bday.

danvers DS2 sleeps 7-730 with no wake ups. Sometimes H has to wake him up on weekdays to get ready. He naps about 1-2 hours at daycare and on weekends can nap up to 3 hours. He loves his sleep. Just like me.

Good morning! We are in Hawaii and my kids are still struggling with the 3 hour time change. They were up at 4:55 this morning 😬 Luckily I was asleep by 8:30 so not a huge deal but we need to get them slightly more adjusted (we just got here late Thursday night so only 2 sleeps). DS sleeps from 7 to anywhere from 6:15 to 7:30. Usually he is up at 6:30ish. He naps for 1.5-2/2.5 hours

Today we went to my mom's to celebrate my Grandpa's 103rd birthday. Grandpa was born in 1917 and DS2 was born in 2017 obv. Hard to believe they were born a century apart.

danvers, like CoachTsWife said, enjoy your sleep! Lil fella can subsist on the minimum of sleep. Actually both boys don't sleep much right from the start. We start bedtime at 8 and he usually falls asleep 8.30-9. He's typically up at 7ish sometimes earlier but never later. He naps 1-2 hrs a day and sometimes none. Those days we'll put him down 730 and he's usually asleep by 8 but still up at 7ish or earlier.

CoachTsWife , that's incredible that your grandpa is 103! FIL and lil fella is 85 yrs apart. It's crazy to think how long that is. Also we had such a good weather day and it's apparently going to be 70 tomorrow!! Than 30 and snowing Monday and plunging to 20 by Tuesday. doodlemommy enjoy some sun for us stuck in the midst of winter over here! I forget how long are you there for? August Blooms I typically batch cook on the weekends which is a habit I've just kept up from when I was working FT and I am glad I did because it makes it so much easier during the week days. We did go through my freezer stash over the holidays but I've now caught up so I feel a bit better when hubs is away for work next week. All I have to do is really defrost my freezer stash for mains and just make sides and vegetables. I do need to plan DS lunches for next week though. I just need to get through this project which has been keeping me awake many nights. Meh!

Despite all the work, the day was so nice that we ended up going for a nice long hike to the pond, boys love going up there and taking a break and having their snack. We also spotted the resident great horned owl perching on a branch. I also dropped off some red envelopes with money and oranges to friends kids as a tradition for the lunar new year. I've been doing this the last couple of years and it's so unexpected and the kids love it. Now I am actually thinking of giving out like quarters for Halloween instead of candy? Would that be weird?

August Blooms I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better and back to your normal self. You are a strong and amazing woman - you went through a lot last year, and I really hope 2020 is going to be better for you. Sorry I missed your tag about the Wuhan coronavirus. We have 19 confirmed cases here, including a human-to-human transmission inside Thailand. 355 suspected cases are being monitored. Sigh. The thing that is hard with this disease, is that a lot of people have tested negative for it, and then tested positive few days later (or even 10 days later - as is a case with a woman in Chiang Mai). We had 27,000 visitors from Wuhan to Thailand in January, and 990,000 from all of China - just in Jan 2020. I want to be hopeful that they’ve been able to contain it, but I don’t see how we can avoid getting more cases. Lots of face mask wearing and hand sanitizer for me and our family! duskymonkey Work/life sounds crazy for you! I hope you are able to figure out a plan moving forward. I can be a perfectionist too, so I understand what you are going through about hating to deliver something to a client that is not up to your standards. That convo between your boys was adorable - sounds like something my two would be discussing 😂🤣 CoachTsWife Wow - that is a tough decision to make. I am glad it’s over for you, and thanks for your service on a jury. I’ve been overseas so long that I have never served, but I know it’s hard to take time away to do that (and to make tough decisions). Glad that you got through it. Also - go Chiefs!! curmudgeon Wohoo for your trip being awesome! What were your favorite parts? You went to Mexico, right?? bootsorhearts1 Heyyyyyyyy!! Did you get your mommy makeover? If so, how did it go? You feeling okay?

I took the girls to the park this afternoon for a few hours because it was 64° and sunny. We hopefully got enough vitamin D to last us the rest of winter because 4+ inches of snow are expected by the end of the week. DD2 can be so brave about some of the things on the playground and then other equipment she just says “too big for me” and walks away 🤷♀️

I hate scary things so the ghost tour was absolute torture. H thought it was good, more sad than anything. Favorite thing I ate was the free wine at our hotel every evening. 😂 but seriously, the seared scallops at 5 Church were amazing. Also she crab soup from a vendor at the oyster festival. So good.

Just sitting here following all the coronavirus news. Ughhhhh...I just have a feeling it’s going to spread like wildfire here. My country had about 900,000 Chinese visitors in January, 27,000 were from Wuhan. This thing seems so contagious, i just don’t see how it’s NOT going to become a huge deal here. The same thing is going to happen in Japan too I think, which really sucks for them, since they have the Olympics coming up this summer.
Sigh. At least we have our N99 masks (normally for pollution), which should help protect us from catching anything! Everywhere is sold out of hand sanitizer, but I’m glad I had a lot at home.

Taitai The media is so focused on the 4 confirmed cases here it’s hard to get info about elsewhere. It seems that if people have access to sufficient medical care it is easily survivable. That being said a lot of people in the world don’t have that luxury and I can see how some countries would easily have their health care system overrun with cases. If it makes you feel better, myself and my colleagues have had direct contact (but not prolonged exposure) with people from Wuhan (including the confirmed cases) and the region and no one has got sick. Thanks for the kind words!

danvers Totally late but DD2 is in bed at 7:30 ish most nights, up for daycare around 6:30 and weekends she wakes up on her own at 7:30. Daycare naps are around 1.5- w hours and weekends we are lucky to get an hour and usually not in her crib.

DS1’s school offers an after school STREAM class once a week and I just got notice he wasn’t accepted to the Spring session. I’m so bummed for him. He went in the Fall and had the best time. I know they gave priority to the students who hadn’t attended yet, but I’m still kind of upset. 😞

CoachTsWife Happy birthday to you and your Grandpa!! 103 - amazing! Sorry for the belated wishes, my tapatalk is messed up and I missed so many posts for some reason! danvers Sorry I missed your question about sleep. DS2 goes down at 8pm and gets up around 6/6:15am. He sleeps straight through now that we have him in his toddler bed. DS1....on the other hand...is the world’s worst sleeper. Still gets up multiple times a night - even after we got him a new bed. I am at a loss of what to do. He got up 4 times last night. I’m so tired today. 🥱 😴 doodlemommy Enjoy Hawaii!! I am sure all the fun in the sun will tucker out the kids and get them adjusted to the time zone soon. August Blooms Thanks for the comments on La Corona, as I’m calling it. I’m glad to hear you’ve been safe, which is extra good considering you are (I assume) in a medical facility setting with safeguards/procedures. The hospitals here are great, so that doesn’t worry me. It’s just the sheer number of visitors we’ve had from affected areas - and the number of human to human transmissions already. I just hope it doesn’t hit the schools....ugh.

Taitai Not in the medical field with but working with some safeguards in place. Which I hope is reassuring to you but is a bit stressful. On the plus side no new cases and the travel ban seems to have reduced travelers from the affected region. I had no idea your country had so many tourist from China those are some huge numbers! I’m know the Chinese haven’t been telling the whole truth and some of the images coming out of the epicenter are very disturbing. I can see why you would be worried.

I’m know the Chinese haven’t been telling the whole truth and some of the images coming out of the epicenter are very disturbing. I can see why you would be worried. Our country is the #1 tourist destination for Chinese tourists in the world. Japan and Taiwan are close behind. We had a million visitors from China in Jan 2020 alone. And still absolutely no travel restrictions - at all. Not even a ban for people from Wuhan. I’m just...ugh. ETA - many people over here were following the story of one of the first Chinese whistle-blower doctors who tried to warn people about coronavirus in December. He died today. He was only 34. And then to top it off, the Chinese government made all Chinese news agencies delete the story. It’s just getting really ugly. “Li Wenliang, the Chinese whistleblower doctor who was reprimanded by Wuhan Police after warning the public of a potential "SARS-like" disease in December 2019, died of coronavirus in Wuhan in the early hours of Friday morning (local time), according to a statement from Wuhan Central Hospital.”

I read about that dr today Taitai, so sad! I definitely understand your concern. I'm having one of those "why my kid is crying" moments. DS2 is currently LOSING HIS MIND because he wanted to take his socks off, I told him ok, but he wouldn't take them off and wouldn't let me take them off. 🤯

Taitai All of that is just crazy. I heard about the Dr and then there was the retraction and then the confirmation. It’s so sad, he was so young. The retraction was due to the fact that this doctor has been viewed as a hero inside China for standing up for the people to the authorities. The central government is trying to delete all references to him now, as they view statements of support for him as a “threat to national security.” It’s very concerning for many of us out here to see happen 😔

Aside from sad news about infectious disease and authoritarian regimes...DS2 has been really great on the potty training front! No accidents in 2 weeks 👍 Not one in the bed yet! He pees before bedtime at 7:30pm, and then goes when he gets up in the morning around 6/6:30am. I’m just waiting for a regression or something, but for now I’m really pleased with how the whole process went!
