Attachment DeletedIt’s been awhile since my nails have been long enough for me to even feel like painting them. I still have some edge clean up to do.

bobyn I can only wear conservative nail colors at work, too (it’s not technically part of the official dress code, but it’s definitely frowned on if you have any contact with customers), so I just bought light green, lavender, and blue nail polish to paint my nails crazy colors while I can. Kida My nails are short - very short. Basically as short as you can keep them. If I let them get any longer, I catch them on my crutches and tear them, so they’re short. I read your description of wrapping the tip. With short nails, do you just do that, make a mess, and clean it up later, or am I missing something?

The California Mango oil you linked a long time ago? I bought it, I just need to be more diligent about using it regularly. Maybe I'll set reminders on my phone to do it every few hours until it becomes habit... Yes! I keep it in my purse and try to do it whenever I can. I used to be the worst cuticle picker and even now if I have a dry piece I'll pick so I try to keep them oiled. There’s a brush “pen” cuticle oil stick and burts bees lemon cuticle salve I keep w me at all times. I use that mango bottle at home as well as others. Pictured will be my favorites and sharp nippers are critical

My problem with the cuticle oil is that then it's on my fingers...and they're all oily.

The pen thing is nice cause it doesn’t go everywhere.

Does anybody have a rec for a cuticle oil that doesn’t have a scent? I have the mango one mentioned earlier, and it has a scent that I like at first, but pretty much ANY scent starts to make me nauseated if it lingers, especially on my hands for some reason.

Yes, even when my nails are short I do a wrap as much as I can then just clean up.

I would, and occasionally do, get argan oil. It's great. Sally's has a pretty good one for a good price. I use this one on my face, hair, nails, everything. No scent.

So I’ve been reading a lot of nail stuff, like reddit subs for nails and stuff and one lady had tips on growing out and caring for natural nails.
She said the common stuff like don’t use them as tools, gloves when cleaning and don’t let them get wet aside from hand washing and dry right away.
But she said she wears gloves in the shower!! To keep from getting her nails wet.
Is this common? It’s serious nail dedication but I don’t know if I could shower in gloves.
Edit: and omg I’ve spent lots of $ on polish in the past few days and base costs and acetone and my gosh.

Both of these are not scented. Off topic: I had a dream about mango oil last night.

I love geometric designs and I LOVE neon nails. I pretty much stick to opaque white or deep dark like black or plum, but a highlighter yellow matte mani is awesome to see. Wicked by Essie is my all time favorite dark. Lincoln Park after dark (OPI) is good too

I'm gonna say no 🤣 I wear gloves while cleaning and washing dishes but zero chance I would while showering. One way to ensure they are protected, if long enough, is to paint the undersides with base coat and top coat. It really keeps them sealed and can also help extend the polish wear.

Kida ok that’s what I thought. It was a lot, although she did acknowledge she may be extra. Nice nails though ha. I use gloves for cleaning and dishes because I hate hate hate my hands being wet for any reason beyond washing. (Shower and pool is different since everything is wet). I did put a clear coat under the few that are long enough. I’m trying to grow them out at the moment. I started using jojoba like you said on the cuticles and I’ve been only doing it since Monday a few times a day and I think I already see improvements.

I just ordered some of the NailsMailed wraps. Hopefully they are easy to apply because I am not a talented nail tech. I need something, I am bored to death with naked nails.
