I don't know how trendy my teenager is, but she does neon colors a lot, as well as deep jewel tones in a matte finish.

I am you. For Vegas last time, I did Essie cherry on top and I felt so silly the entire time. It was so far from my comfort zone. I went back to navy almost as soon as we got off the plane.

If you’re wanting flashy and trendy, super long acrylics with nail art, multi colored, ombré tones, etc are what I’m seeing a lot. If you don’t want super long, you could also do something like this:

I saw a neon and a red French tip that looked pretty awesome.
I think the neon or the matte jewel are good “trendy” without being bejeweled claws.

Assuming we consider teenagers trendy 😁 Neon is big, but it shows the chips. For a couple days probably not a problem. A lot of my students have been doing something like this. I also like neutral nails, anything bright annoys me after a couple days. I like this look because it’s fun while still being subtle. Grays, pinks, whatever your usual style is.

Hi. I fucking love nail art. According to a blog I read recently, here are current nail trends: Dark French: Leopard nails: Cloud nails: Soft matte ombré: Geometric designs: Cuticle dots: Metallic accents: That said, I don’t think it needs to be on-trend. There’s a couple of amazing nail salons I follow on IG and I’ll search nail ideas on Pinterest and I’ll bring a pic of either to my salon. It doesn’t need to be what’s on-trend, just what you love.

I must be so conservative and frumpy. Cher, of what you posted only the geometric would ever appeal to me. The cuticle dots would make me think someone has an emerging illness that needs to get checked. Perhaps it's because the example is against a neutral color that could also seem sickly to me.

I love geometric designs and I LOVE neon nails.
I pretty much stick to opaque white or deep dark like black or plum, but a highlighter yellow matte mani is awesome to see.

I've started on a nail art path, so now I'm saving IG posts to show my nail art person at each appointment. I'm really liking get polish in clear with art on top. It's great for the growing out stage if you're not getting a mani every two weeks. My artist called it negative space art. I started following a nail artist in Canada because I like a lot of what she does. www.instagram.com/nailditbyalyssa/?hl=en

It’s not for everyone. I realized long ago that I have different taste than most people here. I remember posting in Parenting like 6 years ago I got nail art and getting shamed for it. I don’t think people who mainly get one conservative nail color are going to dig it. That’s ok. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. I was in Singapore in the fall, my souvenir was a 3 1/2 hour super intense nail art manicure. It brings me joy.

My nail artist was telling me last time that she used to be a stripper who danced exclusively to Nickleback.
I laughed like it was a joke, but it was not.

The big trends here right now are high gloss black and also colored and classic French tips.
I love some of the neon looks posted above!

This was my first manicure in 8 years. It’s a lowkey foray into nail art.

I love a neon nail. And matte black. If I had the scratch I'd do regular nail art but I save that for special occasions. But I haven't even had a manicure in two months since I cut the tip of my finger off (nail is fine, finger is woof). It's still tender and I'm scared, but this thread is making me want to go for it.

I have no idea what pricing is in other cities, but I've been booking with an apprentice in a nail art shop. She's $55 for a gel mani with basic art. And if you want 90 minutes for detailed art, she's $60. I'm sure her prices will go up, but I was thinking it would be way more $ than it is. It's not cheap nail shop prices, but it's way cheaper than some manicures I've gotten from upscale salons in the past.
