curmudgeon, if you're not already called in, you can ask to be relieved mid way through or at least ask them to see if you need to be completely full to get what they need. I've had to do that the last few times and the US tech was really nice and every single time after checking my cervix first, she'd let me relieve myself and then continue the scan.

thatgirlrachel, drink lots of water and I hope you can get some "rest" at work and when you get home after. Glad to hear you have an appt tomorrow to get things checked out.

mkrupar , sorry your day started out so terrible!! Let me know if you find a rash guard...lol. DS starts swim lessons soon and DH can't make a couple of them. Plus we have a pool party to go to soon. I'd love to get in the pool, but I don't think any of my bikini's will fit my large booty and I'd definitely be most comfortable more covered up. DNW to spend a fortune on a maternity suit I'll only wear a couple times though. This has been covered, but I have my glucose test next week. My appt is in the afternoon and they said to just eat my regular breakfast and lunch, but to NOT eat anything after the drink. rachydc I'd describe it as a tightening feeling. I wouldn't describe it as intense belly pulling or a side stitch, but I'm not saying your weren't have BH. I'm sure it feels a bit different to everyone. Sounds like a call might be worth it to put your mind at ease. Our neighborhood was nuts last night and our next door neighbor had the loudest fireworks; they sounded like the big booms you hear at the town-wide shows. DS slept through it until about 11:30 and it took us until at least 12:30 to put him back down. Then he was up at 5:30 throwing an epic fit but I think it was because his tummy was hurting. He ripped a couple good toots and he started acting better. I'm......not ready to be back at work on such little sleep at the end of my 4-day weekend.

mkrupar , sorry about your crappy morning. So not acceptable and glad they managed to sort it out for you but really sounds like the clinic needs to work on their scheduling and communication personnels and office management. For those that has done the 3 hr glucose ( just want to be prepared - haven't heard back from my clinic yet ) can you eat something after you take the nasty drink? and do they make you drink more than the 1 hr test?

I guess they are running behind. Good news is they said go ahead and go and just start drinking again. My appt time was 20 min ago. I'm annoyed.

No, you can only have water after you drink the drink. It's the same amount as the 1 hour, just more needle sticks and less food involved.

CoachTsWife I found a few on Amazon. I haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing yet, because they're like $45 and not eligible for Prime. I'll still probably end up getting one, because we're doing swim lessons like 3 days a week.

Sounds like a lot of us are having a crappy hump day! Maybe this will turn things around! Well, DS just got home from his walk and one of my neighbour's ( they're seniors ) gave him an antique toy yellow cab and a book about antique cars! This isn't the first time they've done that. They are so incredibly nice to him. Now I have to figure out something nice in return. I was thinking of making a blueberry buckle since blueberry is in season. I think they would enjoy it.

After 45 min of trying not to have an accident I told them to cancel this ultrasound. Maybe I should put this is the WTF Wednesday thread. But WTF tech to running this far behind and not letting someone know up front.

i have started making ds jump when I have to pick him up. He is getting heavy! And I can't hold him on the front of me. I have to hold him to the side. There just isn't enough room for him to be above the baby Haha yep, if I have to hold DD then she's on my hip! I'm slowly running out of space for her to sit on my lap, too...

I've been told by 2 people in 2 days that I shouldn't be lifting my 32lb toddler. I mean, I'm definitely leaning on MH for as much of the heavy lifting as possible, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Plus my OB never said anything, probably because her girls have the same age gap that mine will and she knew it would be a nonstarer. I'm right there with you on the toddler situation. DD is 30 lbs. I asked my midwife about it and she said they usually recommend not bending over to lift anything over 25 lbs, if possible. But she also mentioned that if DD is throwing a fit in the middle of Target, I'm not going to not pick her up - sometimes it's unavoidable. I look at it like others look at working out while pregnant...We have been doing it throughout our pregnancy, it's not like we just started lifting these 30 pound humans overnight. Our bodies are used to it and as long as we know our own limits and rely on SO/DH when we can, I think that's pretty good. Exactly! Yesterday the comment came after I ran across a playground to stop her from escaping and then she dropped to the ground in a tantrum. Like, what was I supposed to do? Kid wasn't about to nicely walk back. Obviously we're all using our best judgment, but sometimes there is no choice.

But WTF tech to running this far behind and not letting someone know up front. Yeah, not cool. Years ago I showed up for an ultrasound and they told me right away that the lab was an hour behind, first thing I did was pee and then start over drinking my 16oz because fuck that noise. And I wasn't even pregnant!

I was in the waiting room for over an hour, but I didn't have to have a full bladder. I'm sorry!

Now that I've eaten and peed I'm less annoyed. Usually I'll wait forever but with the full bladder it was just impossible.
Anyway, my SIL announced she's pregnant with her 4th child. She has 3 girls already so I'm anxious to find out the sex of this one.

Sorry everyone is having such a bad day. My day can be summarized as had a nice walk with DD and my mom and then toddlers be toddlering.
I'm currently waiting for an electrician to show up to replace our pot lights. H told me about it but did not remind me so I didn't prep dinner... we may end up ordering something because by the time this guy does his work and gets out of here it will be time to eat.

Question: how often will most babies go to the pediatrician? My OB paperwork says it's time to pick one and I'm trying to determine how far the office is from me to be worth it.

Question: how often will most babies go to the pediatrician? My OB paperwork says it's time to pick one and I'm trying to determine how far the office is from me to be worth it. It might vary, but we went - about 5 days after birth - at two weeks - at one month - at two months - at four months - at six months - I can't remember if there was a visit at 9 months, there probably was - one year - 15 months - 18 months - 24 months Kind of a lot, especially at first. We scheduled 'interview appointments' with about three providers we had heard good things about. We took into account our feel from the 'interview', hours, walk-in hours, do they have separate waiting areas for sick/well patients, etc. I had an interview sheet with sample questions that helped us know things to look for. We live in a major metro area, so the ped options were endless. We choose a pediatrician that didn't have rights at the hospital I delivered at. But they told us the ped they'd recommend from that hospital to do DS's circumcision (which I know doesn't apply to you....)

CoachTsWife thank you for that. I am relatively new to the kid aspects of this area and I don't have any local mom friends to take word of mouth referrals to so I'm flying blind here! Related: trying to find provider reviews on the internet is absolutely garbage.

cythe, I didn't have any mom friends (first to have kids) so I asked my midwives for pediatrician recommendations.

Okay follow up question - its not terribly important to select a pedi that has privileges at my hospital yes? The packet says a neonatal doc will care for my child while I'm there - if needed of course.

I won't write it out again, but from what I can recall we had the same schedule that CoachTsWife posted. So they go a lot in the first year, a couple of times in the second year, and after DD's 24 month appointment in May they told us to come back in a year. We said we'd be there with a newborn before that! I would definitely factor in distance, but also bear in mind that the rate of visits does decrease a fair bit after the first 6 months. Fun fact: we didn't have a pediatrician picked out for DD until after she was born. I was super stressed about choosing the "right" or "best" one, sooooo I basically did nothing about it. MH texted a bunch of his friends with small kids from the hospital to ask them where they go, and we chose one at random. It's worked out well so far!

A hospital pedi will examine the baby while you're there (I think they do the check-up 24h after birth), we actually REALLY liked the one at ours and kind of wished we could stick with them, but they only worked with inpatients.

Phew, thanks! I'm delivering at a hospital that is a fair ways from my house so most of the suggested pedi are near there. Do not want to drive 30 minutes each way for a pedi appt if I can avoid it. Thanks guys!
