Is this randoms? When do you all plan on telling your daycare about the new babies? Ours has a big wait list but we jump over non current families. I told ours after we had a good ultrasound, so just this week. Ours doesn't have a super long wait list and we were told we'd get a spot no matter what since our kids currently attend. Baby won't go until January of 2021 though after myself and H exhaust all over leave.

Seems to have taken the place of randoms lol. We'll probably start an actual randoms in February. I'm taking 18 months leave and probably staying home after lol. Daycare spots aren't super hard to find here for 18m+ but I'll probably be sending my kids a couple days a week to a French daycare so that they get their French since dad forgets to speak it 🙄

I'll probably tell after my first appointment. I know they occasionally have a wait list, but I'm sure I'd get first dibs since my 4 yr old is there right now.
Is anyone else having sleeping troubles already?? I've tossed and turned and many wake ups all week. I seriously hope this does not last entire pregnancy.

I'll be lucky to have my 8 full weeks for my csection. 🙄

No number of hours is making me feel rested and I keep sleeping through alarms which is super not like me. I'm usually the lightest sleeper ever. I have no clue if you can take melatonin while pregnant but I've taken one a couple of times. You can definitely take unisom though.

I only get 33% of the average of my pays if I take 18 months, as opposed to 55% for 12, but the child tax I get makes it easier.

I get paid for the amount of PTO I have, which will be somewhere in the 3-4 week range depending on how many days I use between now and June. Though as a teacher in NY I can take up to years unpaid without losing my position. Then we're banking the daycare costs from my summer pay for the ten weeks of summer we won't send them and use that to buy me another 8-10 unpaid weeks. After I go back H will take four weeks of full pay his work offers. So baby won't go to DC until into the new year, but I'll be back to work likely following Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I mean, I know people talk about the tax level, but really, with how much I make, last year 2% of my pay went into employment insurance (what covers maternity and if someone suffers job loss), 4% went into my federal pension, and 8% went to federal taxes, which covers all sorts of things including medical. I have to pay $0 for all of my appointments, bloodwork, ultrasounds, etc, including genetic testing. The only thing we have to pay out of pocket is about $10 per day if we want a private room at the hospital, but our private insurance (which is covered by Hs union fees) covers that. I've said so many times, I don't know how Americans do it. If I had ended up staying there and marrying one of the guys who proposed to me (lol, there were several) I'm not sure if I would have had kids at all.

I'm on mobile (don't know how to post pics) but I had a good ultrasound today! Only one in there, measuring 3 days ahead and heartbeat of 183. They gave me Zofran for the nausea but it didn't help at all this afternoon/evening.
They're already talking possible c-section because my second had her shoulder get stuck on the way out and broke her collar bone. I mean I obviously don't want a stuck baby, but for some reason after 2 vaginal births a c-section scares the crap out of me

Another random question. What are you telling your kids?
My kids are 6 and 3. They know I feel sick lately but have no idea why. I just know when I tell them my 6 year old will tell everyone she sees.

fem congrats on a good ultrasound! I had a planned c section and from what I've heard it's so much better than an emergency section. I think because you're calmer and know what to expect, and I know that I healed really well, which I attribute to it not being rushed. I even have feeling back there after less than 2 years. I know people who have no feeling still 5+ years after their emergency section.

I just know when I tell them my 6 year old will tell everyone she sees. We've told our 4 year old that hes getting a baby brother or sister but that it's a secret and he can't tell anyone. So far he's done pretty well about not telling.

I just know when I tell them my 6 year old will tell everyone she sees. Our kids know there's a baby in my belly that sometimes makes me feel tired or sick. They're intrigued but I doubt they really get it at 2&4. Congrats on your good US! I have yet to a vaginal birth and now never will. Neither of my sections were planned and both went fairly smooth, even my emergency with DD1.

I'll probably take 8 weeks off again this time, 6 FMLA + 2 vacation. Our vacation at work actually resets at the end of September, so I really don't want to use all of it right away. I'm hoping my boss lets me roll over one week from this year so I will have 2 weeks left. I'll probably work from home through the holidays though since my work is really flexible.
H's work gives him 2 weeks paid but he can use 16 weeks with sick days....It makes me so frustrated...but at least we're on his sweet insurance so all of our IF treatments went against the deductible and our OOP max is way lower than my insurance.

If I had a dollar for every time I checked the online portal looking for my Beta results this week... I got tired of waiting for them to call so I logged in to check and right as I looked at the results, she called to say all's good. So, it worked

I'll call daycares at the end of first tri. We're waiting until then to tell 5yo as well. Poor baby has asked for a baby brother or baby sister every night in his prayers for over 2 years now and I just can't stomach the idea of taking that from him.

My H has a better leave policy than me too. He qualifies for the new NY leave act, getting partial pay for 12 weeks, but his work will top him up to 100% for the first four. I don't get shit. I have to burn all my PTO than I'm SOL.

katespade I hope your betas are showing you good signs. Thinking of you ♥️ I didn’t get a call today. The OB did say they may not call me- “we clearly know you are pregnant”- so I’m trying to not worry too much. I woke up with terribly sore boobs, almost the worst they’ve been, and almost just ralphed when H came in with a bag of gym clothes. But I’m still spotting. I’m noticing it’s more when I’m up and moving (hard not to do with DD!) because when I woke up I wasn’t spotting at all and it picked up within 2 hours. I just want this nugget to stick and come home with me.
