I did my trail race! Overall I'm so glad I did it, I was really nervous about it. The course ended up being just under 1.5 miles short, I think it may have been due to muddy conditions? I'm a little bummed I don't have an official half time, but based on my paces I would have finished around 2:41, which was just 11 minutes off from my goal time. I would have been very happy with that, since I'd never been on that trail before and there was more long uphill climbs that my local trails. The best part is that I went in telling myself that if it was a horrible race I can take the next two weeks off but in the end I don't actually want to. I feel pretty ready to head back out now, which is such a different feeling for me, post-race.

Baby is a month old so I want to start running again. I am hoping I can get my treadmill set up so I can run tonight. Or maybe I will abandon Dh with all the kids and hit up the gym. I'm in a weight loss challenge with Dh so that has motivated him to start running as well. This should be interesting. Anyone have any tips/insight for getting back into running after baby? I know I will basically need to start over. I suppose I could do C25K again.

lildiamondeyes for me it was different with each kid. For my oldest, I honestly just started running again. Like I had never stopped. Ran a half marathon 3 months later and almost PRd. My youngest wrecked my body and it was a much slower start back. Like I tried a slow jog and had to shorten my planned run and dial back on speed to a run/walk. Took 6 months to train for my next half and it was the slowest one I'd ever run. So I would give you the super trite advice to listen to your body and go with what feels good.

I agree with billyhorrible, listen to your body. Take it easy and don’t expect to pick up where you left off.

I know I will basically need to start over. I suppose I could do C25K again. Listen to your body and start really easy. I've found after doing this twice now that whatever pace I left off running during my pregnancy, I was about a minute per mile faster than when I picked back up, but still like a good two minutes per mile slower than prepregnancy, to give some perspective. For me it really depended on how I did during pregnancy. With my first I when I finally stopped running I was struggling to do a single mile at a time and would feel wrecked after only the one mile. I restarted at one a mile and initially did run walk for the first couple of times before running a full mile. Then I eased back in from there. With my second I was still comfortably running 3 miles around a 12:30 pace when I stopped. My first post baby run I did 2.5 miles at an 11:27 pace easily without stopping. Take your time, listen to your body, but also don't be afraid to put some work back in. I've run two full marathons in my life and both were at less than a year postpartum, so anything is possible if you tackle it the right way for you.

Well, my treadmill broke in the move. That's a bummer eh? I might sneak off to the gym later. Dh is there right now with the bigger kids. The little peanut is to young for tot-watch.

That's the worst! We broke ours moving time before last and I legit ugly cried. H and his dad spent like a month trying to resurrect it unsuccessfully. We ended up buying a broken second one and Frankensteining the working parts from both together and it works again. It's fugly as sin now, but it runs and that's all I care about.

Had to drop my car off for a checkup so I ran 1.5 miles home after, then another 1.5 to go pick it up.
Lol, and I'll repeat it on Friday!

I went to the gym! I feel like I didn't do too bad. 5 mins intervals at 12-13ish min mile.

Did a short run yesterday (1.5 miles). I had to go to the bank (about .5 miles away) so figured I'd might as well make a loop out of it!

4 easy miles today gives me an even 100 miles for the month and checks day 250 of my running streak.

So I borrowed a treadmill from my parents and I can't seem to run on it. Like it's super hard even at a way slower speed. What gives? Is it calibrated that differently than mine?

Does the belt need to be tightened? I have that problem when I run at my parent's on theirs, but theirs is brand new and consumer grade. Mine is old as dirt and commercial grade so I assumed that was the difference. Maybe not then. I know H just tightened ours up. I wish I had a better answer!

When the weather warms up I plan on running them against each other to see the difference.

I empathize though because I feel the same way on my mom's treadmill; it's so hard to run on.

A rough 1.5 miles at the gym today. I'm thinking its my treadmill that's off and that saddens me.

2 miles on the treadmill. If I had waited an hour I could have run outside it’s just nice enough. Maybe tomorrow.

5k today. Day 266, so only 100 more days until I hit one year.
I've lost about 30 seconds off my average pace so far. I've been running just under a 9 minute pace for the last month, about 8:40-8:50 most runs. Curious to see how long it'll take before I drop into the 9's for good. My legs and heart still want to be fast, but my breathing can't keep up anymore.
Disney princess half in one week!
